I thought I would ask before ordering the Flanders poppy seeds that I want for an inner city high school. I volunteer some of my time there (tutoring students in math).

The school's landscape is a fairly blank pallet. Today I took the following pictures

I am willing to pay the postage if anyone wants to donate Flanders poppy seeds.

Please look at the picture in the next post see the plaque.

Part of the inscription reads

In memory of Trenton boys
Killed on the field of honor
During the World War 1914 - 1918
Dedicated, July 4, 1925

“If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.”

Thanks Rebecca ... don't need any more of those seeds ... we sowed them at the beginning of Jan .. on top of lots of snow.

Mary what a beautiful idea. I think the poppies will do fine...though they will be very tiny when they first come up. I love that quote.

Another one I love is They gave their today for our tommorrows.

I am hoping the senior class will add another plaque ... one that reads

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies

Moina Michael, an American woman, wrote those lines in reply to John McCrae's poem "In Flander's Field"
