Hi and Happy New Year Bernie and Bertha. I hope you two don't freeze to death before spring gets here. LOL! Wishing the best for everyone in the new year 2011. Wonder how many times I will write that wrong for the next few weeks?
Beautiful day here. Sunshine and warm temps with no wind. Let the goats and the horse out. I got 3 eggs today!!! It didn't rain so I was able to get the work done in comfort. Supposed to start raining tomorrow.
Happy new year. The new year started out with a hard breeze, down to 22 here. I already lost some plants yesterday. I hope I don't lose my Jackeranda. It's too big to do much frost protection on. I do have Christmas lights on it,hopefully that will save most of it.
Kinda strange weather!
The rain just moved out after about 8 hours of steady.
We got about 1/2" no violent weather at all, just rain.
It's STILL 55° here at 10AM.
Heading down to freezing by midnight.
It was forecast to be 40° at this time.
Long range shows the Normal temps... 40°/25° for the next 10 days w/ mostly sun no precip...
Looks like the winter weather is finally stabilizing.
Here's our new clump of Arum italica.
Put in the ground fully dormant late in the Summer.
I had to trust the grower that it was even in the pot...lol!
For those of you new to this plant it starts growing in late fall... stays through the winter...
flowers and seeds in very early spring...
seeds ripen as the plant goes dormant when the summer heat kicks up.
And it IS an Aroid (Elephant Ear)
Bad weather yesterday for a lot of people, hope everyone is safe! The squall line was bright reds and pinks to the west of us, but by the time it got here it had completely fizzled and we didn't even get one drop of rain, so that was good! Weird how the weather works, the squall line went over Mau's before it went over my house, by about 2 hours, and I live quite a bit southwest of her.
I'll try to catch up today, I'm going to take the Christmas tree down and put away all the decorations until next year. :~(
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone. It's windy, cold, but sunny here in N.W. Missouri today.
Unbelievable weather the past few days and those severe storms that slammed our friends to the south of us. Thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
Yesterday morning the temps were nice and warm with no wind. A couple hours later the temp dropped about 10 degrees and the wind was howling again. I went outside to get carts at one point and turned right back in and got a sweater. The wind was strong enough to knock the wind out of me and to burn my eyes a bit. By last night we were into the middle teens.
Today it's sunny and temps are pretty decent. Probably mid 30s or a bit warmer. No heavy coat needed unless you are gonna be out for awhile.
Happy New Year everybody!! Hope everyone had a good new years!! We went to a friend's house and played dominos and just chatted and caught up on stuff going on. Had a great time. Going to hockey game tonight.
Creek just down the road from my house. It's a treacherous spot there sometimes. I'll have to get a pic of the road and bridge over this when I get a chance.
Hope you guys all stay warm and in out of the wind. 3* Brrrr Glad it warmed up here.
Pretty tree. I took mine down. Only took about 30 minutes because it is really small and didn't have much on it. Rearranged the furniture and cleaned the room up.
I haven't played dominoes in forever. I don't know if I'd remember how. I do remember I enjoyed it. Is that ice in the side of the creek?
So glad everyone was safe from the storms. Looks like they were bad and afr reaching.
It has rained here off and on all day but never hard. It's still raining now and it's falling harder now than all day. Starting to get colder too. It was shirt sleeve weather all day except for the rain.
We have church in the morning. First time we have been able to have regular service since the beginning of December. But it will be sad. A dear lady from our church took her own life yesterday morning. It is so awful. She was bipolar and had been hospitalized. They had changed her meds and sent her home but she was not well. Her wake will be Monday at the church and her funeral will be Tuesday.
They are called Gold Star Layers. Don't get very big, 4½ lbs, but lay around 90%.
Very tame. Nice big brown eggs. About 1 out of 15 will be jumbo. Most are extra large.
They will start laying end of March & eggs will be nice size when market opens 1st of May.
12° with a high of 28°
Through 11am: Clear with temperatures steady or slowly warming to the mid teens. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunny to partly cloudy. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph.
Sunrise: 7:32 am
Bernie, wonderful pictures! We have a big buck rabbit hanging around too! Wow on all the cabinet doors! It comes to a lumber rack doesn't it?
Love the chickens. I thought maybe Rhode Island Reds. When DD's hens were just laying I had a whole carton of double yolks.
Copy cat, laughing! I have a ''cow-bird" (a bird sitting on a cow's back obviously :o)
Cajun, I'm so very sorry for your church member. It's a hard life, being bipolar.
Ric, sympathies for your BIL's brother.
Bernie, you'll have a wonderful open market with those eggs!
Well, the cold front is here. I don't have any outdoor chores, so it will be nice to have a ''regular'' Sunday.
Step son & family supposed to come for dinner today. Another turkey & trimmings.
I don't understand bipolar, so won't comment.
I see the Big Ten is really chocking in bowl games. I think it is entirely to long from the last regular games until the bowl games.
Last regular games for NFL today. Be nice not to have to hear all that hoopla anymore.
Sick & tired of hearing, "Brett Farve this, Brett Farve that". Vikings would be farther ahead if he would have stayed away! 2 years, pile of money & absolutely nothing for next year.
Bernie: great photos! laughing at the "copy-cat"!
Ric and Cajun: I have known/do still know several people who are bi-polar. They all have trouble with their meds--taking them regularly, that is. The problem seems to be with a lot of bi-polar people is that once they are on the meds and doing a lot better, then they decide they don't need the meds anymore and take themselves off without consulting their doctor. It's a dangerous thing to do. I also know of one woman who took her own life after taking herself off her meds. It's a sad situation. Bernie, you can look up "bi-polar" on Google and found all kinds of info about it, if you are interested.
Ric: enjoy your first day of vacation of the year!
It's warmer today, if you can call 40F warmer! LOL I know that sounds like a regular heat wave to some of you. Friday and I managed to get in a mile walk today but my face was cold by the time we got back. The rest of me was covered up good so I was warm everywhere else and Friday had on his little camo-coat. He hates that thing and I have to chase him around to get it on him but I don't want somebody reporting me to the ASPCA for making him walk without a coat on! :o~
Whoops I mis-typed.
Tomorrow is our New Year's Day Holiday.
Since I got rehired in August I receive one week's vacation starting Jan 1.
I won't be taking any for a while.
Probably wait until warmer weather.
Then on August 1st, my one year anniversary, I get another week.
It was sunny and dry here today but on the cold side and the wind was blowing.
It sure was good to get back to church and see most everyone. Sadness at the loss, though. We had special prayer for the family.
I remember how precious those vacation days were when I worked at the hospital. Now that I no longer work a job, I work harder and don't get paid. But if I can't get along with the boss now, it's my own fault. LOL
I think Gold Star and Red Sex Link may be the same thing. The RSL is a hybrid of a RIR roo and a White Leghorn hen if i am remembering correctly. ( which is always in question ) They are egg laying machines but being a hybrid they don't breed true so you have to either breed the basics to get them or buy them from someone else. I think the BSL are a bit better layer and a heavier bird so a better candidate for dual purpose but they are a bit pushy. They are also a hybrid of a RIR roo but a barred rock hen. Barre rocks can be bullies. Nice BIG brown eggs, often double yolks.
22° with a high of 32°
Through 11am: Partly cloudy with temperatures rising towards the upper 20s. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Mostly cloudy skies with a few afternoon snow flurries.Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Becoming partly cloudy later with any flurries or snow showers ending by midnight. Low 16°.
Pepper, is the creek spring fed?
Wow, what a great SIL to be!! I'd be requesting that if she ever asks what you would like to have!!
Cajun, interesting about the chickens.
It's Monday and back to the ''work week,'' even for us retired folk.
pepper: that is a chocolate lover's dream gift! LOL
Ric: I think that is a bummer about you only get one week's vacation after all the years you were with that company! GRRRRRR! (but they didn't ask me, did they? LOL )
Cajun: Interesting info about the chickens. I learn so much about different things from all you folks! :o)
# Today: Abundant sunshine. High near 50F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph.
# Tonight: Some clouds. Low 27F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
I have learned all about chickens! Thanks y'all! Dave wants to get a couple of chickens for our consumption.
Working for the State we get 1 week vacation for the first 3 years, then on the 4th year we get 2 weeks vacation, then I think it stays that way until we're there for 8 years, then 3 weeks, then 11th year it's 4 weeks and it never goes up from that.
It's bright and sunny outside and freezing cold.
Cajun so sorry about your church friend. That's a horrible horrible disease.
Consumption? I thought they'd about wiped out TB.
Chicken Soup couldn't hurt I guess. ;-)
State and Federal Holidays too Chrissy?
41° (Wind Chill 34°)
Got the 'Shed' mostly cleaned up.
Working the GH we were basically grabbing tools and throwing them back in...
Then we had all the Holiday decoration boxes stored there... lol!
Robyn has about 50% of the decorations down and boxed.
Ric, I don't remember seeing your house decorated for Christmas this year! Do you have 3 weeks vacation all year?
Cajun, so sorry about your church friend!
SallyBP, Ozgur won't be coming afterall, he has to work...it would have been nice for him to be here, but we won't miss him!LOL
Bernie, great pictures! All those are hens?
Mau, I can picture you running after Friday!LOL
It's been snowing here today and the temps are up a bit. This was yesterday when the sun was up.
Decent day today. Partly cloudy but temps reached the 40s. Supposed to be decent all week.
The creek isn't spring fed...I don't think. When we don't have rain for awhile it dries up. There are no fish in it. Just frogs and other animals. Meant to get a picture today of the area there but forgot the camera and wasn't turning around. LOL. I'll try to remember tomorrow.
I got a few shots Adina.
Usually the weather was too bad or it was too windy.
I'll track them down and post them.
I'll have 2 weeks vacation for the year.
Plus we get 8 Holidays and 4 personal days (which they now call sick days again...lol!)
quoting Ric: "Consumption? I thought they'd about wiped out TB.
Chicken Soup couldn't hurt I guess. ;-) " ROFL
but seriously, Celia is correct--TB is making a comeback, unfortunately. I personally think the fact that so many folks are on drugs has something to do with it--their immune systems are more vulnerable to diseases like that. Just my opinion--I'm not in the medical field.
Adina: also giggling at your remark about Ozgur. :D
weird things happening here: blackbirds falling out of the sky in a town just 10 miles to the north of where I live and thousands of dead fish in the Arkansas River
Ric: I just heard on the news that a TV station in your area (Cincinnati, OH) collected money to help out the folks affected by the tornado in Cincinnati, AR. That was a really nice gesture.
18° with a high of 22°
Through 10am: Partly cloudy with temperatures steady near 17°. Winds NW at 15 to 20 mph.
Time Until Sunrise: 1 hrs 57 min
Ric, not a bad deal on vacation after being called back. With the rest, not bad at all!
Chrissy, I'm glad you're back!! You always bring a bit of sunshine with you :o)
There is nothing better than eating your own chicken!
Ric, you're cracking me up!! Sounds like my porch till we ''properly'' boxed and stored all the decorations.
Have a good day at work today!
Adina, well, that's just too bad for Ozgur. He missed a wonderful Celebration with all of you.
Awww, you got your snow back. We haven't, yet. Love the skinny icicle :o)
Celia, that's bad news. When Mom had a chest x-ray they discovered she had had TB when young, but it was encased and never developed. She remembers an Aunt who had it and always made sure she coughed into a hankie and never near anyone, so not to spread it.
Pepper, it's still a nice creek, wet or dry. I'd have to walk around after it dried up, just because it's there. I love to see things ''uncovered.''
Marsue, I was reading the other day they don't want to give antibotics for sinus infection unless you have three symptoms.
The dead birds and fish was a strange story. We thought the birds were caught in high winds, but the fish? I hope they find out!
Adina, wonderfull! I can't wait to see pictures. I wish it was happening here :o(
It's already breezy enough to make it a miserable day. I'll have to get on the treadmill. I finished yesterday with a half mile walk around town. When I got home I saw a hawk fly up in the tree across the road. I got the camera and snapped away as I made my way over to the edge of the road. The garden over there is plowed and I had my ''going to town'' tennies on so I didn't get closer.
Sunny, cold but very nice day in N.W. Missouri today. We had a low of 18 degrees this morning compared to a year ago today when the temp. dropped to -17 below. That was the coldest day recorded in our area last year. Winter is far from over though...
Our weather has been like a yo-yo down here, Ric. Warm one day and freezing the next. No wonder the fish died! However it was just one species of fish which is why the experts think it may have been some disease common to that type of fish. I'm sorry about you losing all of your koi!
# Today: Partly cloudy. High 53F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
# Tonight: Partly cloudy this evening, then becoming cloudy after midnight. Low 36F. Winds light and variable.
It was nice today, except that the sun didn't shine. Friday and I managed to get in a walk. :o)
Sun was shining today and it was nice. Took the blanket off the colt while he was out in the lot. Tommorow should be nice, then a bit of snow on Thursday and another storm ny the weekend. I will take advantage of the clear weather tomorrow and trade some chickens.
Clear and sunny today with temps reaching low 40s. Very nice day.
I tried to download pics of the creek area but for some reason either the camera or the computer is messed up and refuses to download. So I have to figure out what's wrong before I try to download them.
14° with a high of 36°
Through 11am: Partly cloudy with temperatures warming rapidly into the low to middle 30s. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
A few snow showers this afternoon. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 30%.
Time Until Sunrise: 1 hrs 10 min
Rusty, a was mystery for a while. They will find it's weather related.
Cuckoo, winter is NOT over. Sadly, it's just begun. I don't care to see below zero days any more.
Ric, what a shame to lose ALL your Koi!
Cajun, how old is the colt? What kind of chickens? Ahhh inquiring minds :o)
Pepper, it's just not to be, LOL!
A chance of snow today. It would be nice to get snow back on the ground and I have no-where to go.
Shame on you BP, for not inviting us to come and partake of those delicious rolls! LOL
Overcast here and damp. Certainly feels like rain.
# Today: Chance of a shower or two during the morning, followed by partly cloudy skies this afternoon. High around 50F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
# Tonight: Mainly clear. Low 32F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
I have to get busy cleaning house--I'm putting my house on the market today. Pray for the speedy sale. I am going to be moving to Harrison, AR and move in with my DD and her hubby. I'm looking forward to it because they have a traveling ministry and I will be joining them in that.
Temps about the same as yesterday, high 30s and sunny. We have a few more days of sunny weather then supposed to get rain or snow.
I tried to download pics again from camera. No go. Not sure what the problem is. I'm gonna have to ask a friend of mine. No point in taking pics if you can't share them!! lol
I found an old pic of the creek area on my road. You can see the bridge there on the bottom of the hill. That's the creek below it. On my camera I have pics coming down the other hill. You can't see the creek bridge at all til you start coming around the corner there.
26° with a high of 25°
Through 10am: Mostly cloudy with temperatures falling to near 19°. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Cloudy skies with a few afternoon snow flurries. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Time Until Sunrise: 3 hrs 16 min
Dyson Dark and breezy.
Marsue, you notice the missing roll in the corner? I had just got them buttered and transfered to the rack. How long do you suppose they lasted? LOL!
Big prayers for you and your house!!
Adina, love the eclipse photos! I hope we get one here someday soon. I'll have to read up on the SpaceWeather site.
Pepper, that's too bad. I hope you figure out the problem. On the old computer we had to download the Kodak site. I hated it! Now I can just plug a wire into the camera and computer and it's done!
Cool! I love your country road! Creek is right, but it's my favorite little bridge that crosses them!
I don't use a lot of sugar, but the Brazil harvest froze and they will have a setback this year and next. I'm buying a bit ahead today.
Went to the shop this morning & sanded some boards so they can get final coat of polyurethane today.
I love going out early, then I can goof off the rest of the day!
Farmers Market board meeting this evening. I take over as President in April.
We will go over things that need to be discussed at the annual meeting next week.
I was redoing a bathroom for a man that had Percheron show horses years ago. A full eclipse of the sun happened while vI was there. The horses went absolutely bonkers. I guess they couldn't handle the dark in the middle of the day. It was a real eerie darkness, too. It was dark, but you could still see everything. Not like a full moon, though. Hard to explain. But always remembered.
24° with a high of 25°
Through 10am: Cloudy with temperatures steady in the low 20s. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Snow showers tapering to some flurries this afternoon. Winds NW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 40%.
Time Until Sunrise: 1 hrs 33 min
Brightening up and we have a light dusting of snow with a bit of sleet mixed in.
Bernie, that's my way of looking at it. Work all morning, play all afternoon!
Pretty neat that you will be heading the markets. I'm sure you can bring improvements!
Wow, what an incredible eclipse!
Pepper, what a perfect Coneflower! I was thinking of mine that are getting buried on the back of the garage.
Yesterday I attempted Hummus without Tahini. It was a bit dry, but I added a leftover dab of no-fat sour cream and also processed it right after I had chopped jalapenos for poppers. Then I made a fresh fruit pie! Laundry and dishes are done and I got groceries moved around in the pantry and cupboards. I missed exercising, so I have nothing in my way today!
Great shots of the eclipse, Adina! At least I am/we are able to enjoy it through your photos because there was a cloud cover in our area that night.
Pepper: your road could be any number of roads here in Arkansas--looks very familiar. :o)
Bernie: congrats on being President of the Farmers Market. I'm certain you will do a good job for them!
BP: I have never eaten Hummus--not sure it fits in with my southern up-bringing--LOL--but then I have given up fried foods except for an occasional order of french fries or piece of fried chicken. Also, I eat my veggies steamed instead of boiled-to-death and I haven't eaten "light bread" in years! I've practically eliminated red meat except for the occasional hamburger (eaten with the above-mentioned order of fries!) I guess I have beaten the "southern" out of my diet--LOL--but I have still not tried Hummus! :o~
The weather guy said this morning that two jet streams are "phasing" together--the polar jet and the southern jet. The polar jet has the cold air and the southern jet has the moisture--when the two "phase together", we can expect the frozen precipitation. A lot of the eastern portion of the U.S. will have colder weather and snow starting this week-end.
We are expecting snow on Sunday and Monday but for today--well, we will be near 60F! Enjoy it while we can!
# Today: Windy with sunshine. High 57F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph.
# Tonight: Mostly clear. Low 31F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
# Tomorrow: A mainly sunny sky. High near 45F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
Marsue, hummus was new toi me, but they had free samples in the grocery store. It grows on you and since it uses healthy chick peas, I might make it more ofter. It's simple to make in the food processor, or even use a mixer. With cumin, it had a chili flavor.
Laughing, I try to eat like you do, but chicken wings and frienc fries are my downfall!
I wonder what weather I'll really have today, LOL!
Well, the treadmill is hollering at me, LOL! Have a good day all!
Bernie, congrats for being elected as a President, wow! We had a full sun eclipse in 1999 and it was like you said, so weird, so quiet, but so beautiful! Unfortunately I didn't have a camera back then to take some shots.
SallyBP, I ate hummus from an arabian store we have here and I loved it...forgot what it was made of.
Mau, congratulations for eating healthy! I love French fries and have been eating it all my life...I guess I'm lucky I have a good stomach!LOL
Pepper, lovely pictures!
It's still freezing here, 15F and cloudy. Frost all over the field , on the fence, and on the trees and plants. This is from last week.
High of 37 with windchill of 25 today. Strong winds with gusts up to 40 mph. Very bitter feeling. Winds died down some after sun went down. Had some sleet and snow in the area today too. Not much just enough to feel.
Wasp from this past summer. I try to avoid getting close to them. They all like to sting me!! lol
There's a really good Hummus bar at Jungle Jim's.
Cookie loves the place
I love their KILLER Olive Bar!
You must try Kalamata Olives soaked in vinegar and aged in oak barrels!
Also aged Feta from the same barrels.
I have 2 mares at that barn. Water is no problem as they have a creek. The county had scraped the road up to the bottom of the last hill and a friend had scraped the last hill with the blade on his 4 wheeler but it was covered with snow again so we had to walk up and carry the feed. But they are fed now. 1 more to go. I have to let him out so I can clean his stall. Then I will feed and water him and give him the rest of his hay. He'll be snug again for the night. I still have to feed the chickens and goats but my feet need to warm up first. Got too cold amd I'm having spasms in my feet and legs. I sure do hate this weather. Should only be a couple more months. I got some new pics while we were out but I need to download them. Pics and snow creme are all this weather is good for. :)
Cold!!! Flurries this morning then the sun came out for awhile this afternoon.
Went to a friend's sister's place to help dig up some plants after work. I decided to tackle her snowball bush. It was about my height but not very big around. Gave it a hard pruning so that I wouldn't get smacked to death, then took the spade and started digging around it a bit. Then used shovel to really dig. I ended up breaking the shovel, possibly cracking the spade, and my friend cracked her shovel. lol. But we got the bush dug up!! And I owe my dad a new shovel. lol.
I wasn't supposed to disappear but work is still busy, I think we're about finished though.
Cool pics of the eclipse Adina! Lucky you got to see it.
I loved Jungle Jim's, what a neat place. They have everything, literally!
That's a bummer about your Koi.
I'm looking for a new car: Honda Civic EX Coupe with a manual transmission, they don't make manual transmissions for the EX for the Gulf Coast States. I can order one but it takes 3 months to get it in. Dave wants me to have a salesmen find me one, I'd like to just order the thing, but I'm also wanting to say that if Honda doesn't want to make them for this area then they don't want my business, and I'll go buy a Scion.
It's supposed to snow today!!! Like 3-6 inches!!! I'm so excited, this could shut everything down for getting to work tomorrow!!!
Just found out it's a Memorial for all the donors who died in Sept and October 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital.
So it will be a little less intimate than I was expecting.
Shouldn't be as traumatic this way.
Hey we just broke 20°!
Break out the shorts!
Chrissy I forgot you been to JJ's!
Did Cookie get you to try the Hummus?
Ric, those are NICE tools! I'm lucky the first shovel we got has been so good. We didn't pay a lot for it and it has served me well. I do not dig shrubs or anything needing me leaning into it. I'd snap it for sure now.
Chrissy, smiling. Every time I think I don't have time to catch up, I think about having to catch up. So, we keep up, or we pop in. It's all good! The secret is to not ask a question and then not be there when they answer!
I hope you get a car you want or like.
ROTFL! A Monday off. You can't beat that!
Ric, I hope it will be less tramatic. Just hold a lot of hands and squeeze.
We bought one of those spades years ago.
Still going strong and it's never been babied.
Just filed smooth and sharpened every Spring.
The British have VERY tough standards on shovels and such.
The spud bar I've had for 40 years.
They are actually what you usually use to dig a post hole.
The Bar loosens the soil, pops or breaks rocks, etc.
The post hole diggers pull it out.
Our diggers are probably 15 years old.
We're MUCH warmer than the expected 22°.
28° (Wind Chill 24°) now and Sunny too!
Ric, that is impressive! I love my tools. I'll keep that page bookmarked for future references. I'll never buy cheap tools now. Funny, all my tools are about 25 to 30 years old and all were built well, for being affordable. We've only broken a hoe and cracked my shovel handle. Snapped the hoe good, but DH sanded the split and I use the hoe end to chop lumps and mix my tub of dirt in the garage. The split is good for a lot of things. Then I got my Mom's old old old hoes.
While I'm here, it's now fully cloudy, any snow is drying up as it heads this way and it's a nice, calm, 26* :o)
Ric: I will not be buying a spud bar! LOL Somebody with more muscle than I have will have to do any heavy digging for me.
It's been snowing here for about 1 1/2 hours. This is what it looks like in my back yard after that length of time. The current temp on my back porch is 19F. It's been 19F for the past several hours. I don't know if the thermometer is frozen, too, or if it is accurate. In any case, it is cold!
I have put out 4 suet cages and also a feeder full of sunflower seeds for the birds.
Currently around 26* and Dyson Dark. We are under Winter Weather Advisory starting at 6am tomorrow and ending Tues at 6 am. We are expecting anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of snow. By 8am tomorrow the roads will be snow packed and mess up rush hour driving big time. Around noon it's supposed to be snowing heavily. It will continue to snow thru Tues.
Snow is already in Kansas City and it's heading my way. Gonna be a mess going into work tomorrow. lol. Hubs are locked and mirrors covered. I'm about as ready as I can be for this. lol
Pep it will be hitting here tomorrow night roughly 12 hours after you get it.
Staying the same length w/ the same forecast.
I should be home before it hits and hopefully it will be cleaned up by Tuesday morning! Yeh Right! lol!
We got there just as most of the rest of the Family.
In fact we all parked right together.
Nice touching service.
Psalms, a couple of songs done live w/ piano and violin, a handling grief sermon or lesson.
Then they read the roll of all the people who had died there in Sept/Oct.
As their names were read someone from the Family lit a candle.
Maybe 10 out of the probably 100 people were represented.
Then they gave each Family a cut long stemmed rose.
And of course all the fresh wounds were opened... but it's better they are openly grieving than...
Robyn's OK. Like me she celebrates the Life.
Nothing like reading this to keep things in perspective.
Tomorrow morning, we're going to get snow for the SECOND time this Winter. First was on my birthday, 12/26. I've attached a picture of me out in it at work (you have to look REAL close to see the flakes).
This December was the coldest since the early 1900's. If we do get snow, it's usually not until late January.
Thanks y'all! ;)

Tonight: Snow, mainly before midnight. Low around 17. Wind chill values as low as 5. North wind between 6 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Tuesday: Scattered flurries. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 21. Wind chill values as low as 3. Northwest wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
I took this pic on my back yard deck with bird feeder...
There is 4" of snow about 20 miles North of us. The amount lessens coming towards us. So far, we just have a dusting, but more is coming down now.
Won't last long. It's supposed to get up to 36 today and in the low 40's tomorrow.
Here's a picture of the backyard. It's the only place where it's really sticking. ;)
It is still snowing here and has been since the overnight hours. We have a good 6 inches or more out there right now and we will get more. I have heard possibly up to 10 inches in some places. I just read on a local news website that it's been reduced to 7 inches. I'm thinking closer to 10 here. lol
Winter storm advisory still in effect til tomorrow night. We are expecting wind gusts up to 30 mph and because the snow is the fine powder it will be blowing around and reducing visibilty. Roads are snowpacked but driveable if you don't drive like an idiot.
Woohoo! The sun is shining! Hopefully, some of the snow and ice on the roads will melt as we will be getting up to a "toasty" 32F today! LOL We will be down in the teens for a low tonight and tomorrow night--our coldest nights so far this winter. BRRRRRRRR
# Today: Partly cloudy. Cold. High 32F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.
# Tonight: Mainly clear. Cold. Low 14F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
Finally stopped snowing. 8" this time. 54" for the season. Most still with us.
Brain dead truck driver had his semi in the ditch & the jack-knifed trailer blocking the whole road. It wasn't even very slippery. Just going to fast!
They charge big bucks to pull them out. Maybe he will remember that.
Tow truck company lives in a very fancy house & has the best of equipment. Keeps real busy on this main drag 4 lane highway. It goes from Minneapolis to Sioux Falls, SD or to Sioux City, IA, on to Kansas City. Connects with I-90 by Sioux Falls.
We always say if they caught all the out of state speeders, we wouldn't need taxes here!
Our high today was around 11* or so. Sun was shining and the wind was blowing a little bit. I think we got between 4 to 6 inches of snow from the storm. Lows will be below freezing with wind chills around -15 tonight. Tomorrow our high will be only around 10* with wind chills not expected to get above -4. Very, very bitter out there right now.
Roads are slowly being cleared but they are getting slick again due to blowing snow. Winds are expected to pick up again tonight. I was able to just stay in 2wd and had no trouble til I was on my way home and hit a couple slick spots. But I was expecting them so was prepared. lol. I always get supicious when the trip is smooth in 2wd. lol
Well it was just starting to snow hard here when I left at 6:30AM.
Got 2 miles and it wasn't snowing... dry the rest of the way to work.
Then it hit there about 7:30AM didn't stop until about 6 tonight.
I left to make a delivery at our main plant at 8:30 and it was cranking!
Took me 45 minutes to make a 20 minute drive.
Unloaded, reloaded and 45 minutes again back to my shop.
After lunch I had to head over there again.
All the roads were cleared and just wet... normal time frame.
Coming home the HWY's, which I hadn't been on since 6:30, were starting to freeze back up.
Snow was just starting to blow!
Took me about 10 minutes longer than usual.
Glad I get off before rush hour!
Wishing all a blessed New Year... hope everyone is keeping well & warm. We too in north central Texas are being hit with freezing temps right now!!! We got about 2inches of snow on Sunday. This is not quite the norm but as we get to Feb we tend to expect ice storms!!
Texas is not equipped to handle the 2 inches of snow so it's hialrious watching people on tv try to drive in it! I'm originally from the "north" so I know better!! I stay off the roads if I can!!!!
I am praying for you all with this bad weather that you are getting... it looks like the whole country is having weather problems of one sort or another!!
Happy New Year, Cindy!
It's Dyson dark and foggy. Humidity 100%, temperature 42F.
Its been like that since Monday when my DD and my grandson left . They had to wait for about 9 hours inside the airport, but they got safely home in Switzerland.
This was taken a week ago, on the last sunny day.
The weather seems to be dominating the local and national news these days. The Early Show said this morning that there is snow on the ground in 49 of our 50 States. Florida is the only state without snow anywhere. Even Hawaii has snow on top of one of its mountains.
It was 10F on my backporch this morning and the northern counties of our state have wind chill factors below 0F. Where my daughter lives in Harrison, AR the windchill factor was -9F.
16° with a high of 22°
Cloudy. A few flurries or snow showers possible. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
We have a good couple inches of snow from yesterday.
Marsue, woo hoo, we have sunshine here too, today!
Rusty, if there's no where to go it's best to just stay in! Your picture says Brrr!
Bernie, too much snow for just being into January! Same story. If all people paid what they owe here...
Cindylove, Happy New Year! It's good to be from the north. Look at the things you learn :o)
Adina, cool picture! I'm so happy the family made it home safe!
Rusty. I don't want to see any below zero temps!
It's DD's 34th B'day today. We had the boys yesterday, so I made cupcakes for her to take home, and stuck some money in a card. She doesn't care for ''parties.'' I don't either, but I do it for the Grandkids :o)
We have about 5 inches on the ground and it pouring like a blizzard. Wind is strong so it's awful cold. DH went out with the blower to clear a path to the truck and it's filling in fast. Hate to have to feed in this but those critters still need to eat. We'll have to walk up the last hill to the barn on the mountain. Not looking forward to that.
Your hill is almost as big as our snow piles.
Stopped at Sam's Club today. Fourth of their parking lot is a snow pile about 20 ft high.
Drove to Twin Cities today to pick up my tiller parts. Would be to expensive to fix so it will be parts now. I found a used Troybilt horse model on Craig's list. Stopped & bought it on the way home. Looks like new & paid only $400. Electric start, too. New that model is over $2000.
Not me! The older I get the less I want a practical gift--I can buy those for myself! LOL I'm into the romantic gifts--like a trip to a tropical paradise! Now where is that rich man I'm looking for? ROFL
Bernie: I don't want to even imagine that much snow! Great bargain on the tiller!
# Today: Plentiful sunshine. Cold. High 33F. Winds light and variable.
# Tonight: Mainly clear. Low 22F. Winds light and variable.
Our snow should be mostly gone by tomorrow--they are predicting mid-40's for a high on Friday and close to 50F by Saturday!
This is a shot of my back yard on Tuesday.
Great buy on the tiller. It's amazing the difference between front and rear tine tillers. Those front tined jobs will run you ragged. I'd love to have a Mantis.
Pep, be careful on the ice.
Wish I only had to be out for 10 minutes. It takes hours to do all the feeding.
I'm done with the snow too. Wish it was done with us. But I hate to complain too much. We have not lost power this winter and that is a huge blessing.
It snowed here for 2 nights and a day. We have about 6 or 7 inches on the ground now. Calling for 7* tomorrow. Not looking forward to that misery. Need to fill the feed barrel today. It's below freezing still. Our snow is not so deep as other places and I am glad about that. Problem here is that we are in the mountains. Snow on a hillside is very dangerous. Wouldn't be hardly worth complaining about our snow if we were on flat ground.
This pic is going up the mountain behind my house.
Lots of rocks around here. My friend I gardened with last year picks rocks every year after tilling. He knows he will never get them all but he just moves the big ones every year. I teased him and told him I was tempted to bring him a handful of pea gravels and tell him it was rock seeds. LOL
Cold, partly cloudy and roads are starting to get slick. Came close to wrecking my truck tonight coming home from Wal*Mart. Luckily I didn't slide that much, just enough to scare me a bit. I would have hit a concrete thing on a bridge. Then almost hit the ditch after that. I stuck it in 4WD after that and kept it there til I got to more bare asphalt.
Glad it was a near miss instead of a bulls eye! Sliding is scarey. On these hills it's really scarey because so many of our roads follow creeks and it's always a deep drop off. Our truck is just 2WD and a diesel so all the weight is in the front end. Fords are notorious for having light rearends. Makes it slide around a lot especially in a bind on a hill. Scarey stuff. I am glad you have the luxury and safety of 4WD. Are they pretty good about salting ad plowing where you live?
Pepper, so scary! Glad you are safe!
Cajun, great photos! You have such beautiful surroundings!
SallyBP, Happy Belated Birthday for your DD! So great you had a party for the boys! You are such a great Mom and Grandmom too!
Mau, wonderful picture, so sunny with all the snow ! Thanks for the link, those frazil ice are amazing! We often see them here on our rivers too.
Crissy, loved those pics!
Monty, you're a happy cat!LOL
Rusty, stay warm and show us more pics of your doggies!
It's very warm for this time of year...it reminds me of last year when we had a warm January too and February came with deep freeze and lots of snow...some of you remember too! I googled the forecast for February and it says again deep greeze and snow, but only at the begining of the month. They say it'll be an early Spring at the end of February.
I have an old picture from our mountains, Poiana Brasov resort. It was taken from the telegondole cabin.
Beautiful pic. Were you on vacation in that cabin?
I really enjoyed the Yosemite video. Interesting stuff and so beautiful. I have always said one of my 2 dream jobs would be to camp in every national and state park and write about them.
14* here this morning. It's clear now but can't tell yet if we are going to have sunshine yet. Even on sunny days in winter the sun doesn't get to us until after 10am because we are between 2 mountains.
I have never owned a 4 wheel drive, but I am amazed that you wouldn't have it in 4 wheel all the time on ice & snow.
Another Alberta Clipper coming our way. We will make a full blown storm out of it & send it SE of us.
17º this morning. Cloudy, no wind.
Realy nice pups, Rusty. I'll bet they are great friends.
Our day started out cold as and the wind was blowing. I was preparing for a hard day but the sun came out, the wind layed and it warmed up to around 30*. Not bad at all. Got all the work done with no problem and even made it to the PO. But I have a colt trying to colic. 4th time and he is only 21 months old. *sigh* Gave him 6cc banamine and no feed. Lots of hay and water.
Good morning, all! It was36F on my back porch this morning at 6:30a.m. That is a long way from the 7F on Thursday morning! We are supposed to get up to 50F today--it will be a welcome change!
Adina: I agree with you and Celia re: Sally in Iowa being a good mom and grandmom!
Woo, pepper! I'm so glad that you didn't slide off the road or hit the bridge! Thank goodness for 4WD---as Bernie says---Use it! :o)
Cajun: laughing at the "rock seeds"
Bernie: good luck with the new tiller--hope it performs the way you expect it to.
* Today: Sun and clouds mixed. High 50F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
* Tonight: Cloudy skies. Low 33F. Winds light and variable.
Most of the snow has melted around here although there is still some on the rooftops and in the wooded areas.
Looks like our freezing nights are behind us for a while. It's been staying in the 40's at night and making it into the 60' during the day. We've had som gusty winds though, up int the 30/mph range. I've managed to create a new flower bed for my iris seedling. It's quite a job here. I had to use a jack hammer to dig 2 1/2 ft through the clay and rock and then have dirt hauled in to replace it. We don't have soil here, we have cement.
3° with a high of 20°
A mix of clouds and sun this morning with a few snow flurries this afternoon. Winds light and variable.
Sunrise: 7:29 am
Dyson Dark and Kiska Cold
We ran to town Thursday night. I've been researching cameras with extended zoom. That was to be my Christmas present since Dad gave me money. I settled on a...Canon SX30 with 35x zoom. I got to play with it some that night. I had to download the manual because it's not really a point and shoot like my little Kodak Z650, which truely is a good camera. But it has 10x zoom. Not quite enough.
Then, we got the boys Friday morning and kept them till late Saturday afternoon. DH played with the camera. Sooo, today, I need to play with it.
Marsue, lovely clouds to go with the lovely snow :o)
Cajun, I don't blame you one bit for complaining. I can't wait to see Spring and Summer pictures around your place! Wow on the mountain!! ROTFL over the pea gravel seeds!!
Oh Pepper! DH throws it in 4 wheel just to get down DD's sandy frozen lane in the winter.
Adina, thanks :o) Love the telegondole picture. Was this a sight seeing trip you took in it? Amazing camera to see all the houses way over yonder! (Just got the answer to the vacationing.) Wow, spring folaige already!
Oh Bernie, thanks so much for the clipper (Sarchasm, LOL!)
Celia, you would think Utah would be a clean place, but even the town East of us is one of the worst polluters. ''Muscatine Power and Water.'' Sheesh! I adore the little chickadees!
Rusty, what a great picture of the boys playing! Does your neighbor also have dogs? Rusty is such a good boy!! They both are so handsome!
Aww Cajun, sorry about the little guy. I used to have time to lurk on the horse thread. Great bunch of folks there.
Marsue, thank you too. I would welcome the warm up too!
Wow Redhead, that is a labor of love!!! But how exciting to have a new bed. Are these your seedlings, pollinated from some of your own?
Redhead, I am blown away by your seedlings! Lucky is right, both are beautiful!!
Marsue, I hope I can get some good shots to show everyone. Gorgeous sunrise! We only had a slim horizontal line of sunshine.
Rusty, giggling at myself. I DID know Ju was a girl. I have two boy cats indoors, two boys out and two boy Grandsons. I forget there's such a thing as a girl sometimes, LOL! It's too bad about the yappy dogs next door. We had a Cocker too and it was hard to stop her from barking when someone wass at the door. Yep, we did have a girl dog, long ago.
I named the first one Ginny's Smile after a woman named Ginny that was in our iris society who died in a car crash last summer. She was always smiling. I sent one rhysome to a blind seedling judging at the 2012 AIS convention in So California. They say I can't introduce it until 2013. No matter, I only have 3 so far. The other one I cant think of a name for yet, but I'm going to introduce it next year. It's a cross between Secrect Melody and Jump for Joy. Any suggestions?
Brrr, Bernie, so cold ! Are you working outside?
Sally, congrats for the new camera, sounds a great one! Canon is the best! The picture was taken from the telegondole over the ski slope a few years ago...I posted the pics then. Maybe I'll post more later.
Mau, wow, such high temps...beats us too! Lovely sunrise!
Red, wow, those irises are so beautiful! Congratulations! The second one seems like a torch...Joy Torch?
Rusty, thanks for the pictures! Your doggies are so cute and Ju-Ju already seems bigger than Rusty!
It's been 46F here today and raining. No more fog this morning. Yesterday was foggy and a yellow sun...will post some pics later. I'm at work now and only have older. LIke this one taken last week on the main street in our village.
Cloudy and cold. Supposed to get a wintery mix tomorrow.
Went to hockey game last night. We won 3-1. Good thing is my nephew had a blast watching the game.
Bad thing is I lost my camera and when I tried to find it in the several places it could have been it was gone. Someone took it. So now have to find a new camera. Not gonna rush it though. I need a similar camera so I can take it places. Gonna find the best one for what I want to spend.
The day of AP reported snow everywhere EXCEPT Florida my dgt. called to say they had flurries in Madison which is N. Fl. I've seen it here years past.
We have had 4 freezes this Jan. down to 29F here in central Fl. I can tell I have lost some shurbs but some will grow back from the roots. Last winter was same scenario of freezes and I'm wondering just how many of these freezes the plants can stand and still come back. Weather is certainly changing here over the years.
We lost our grove years ago to 3 back to back freezes. Not much fruit in central Fl. now. Still some in south Fl. Hopefully it will not change weather pattern permanently. It was in the 50's today and hopefully will warm up more tomorrow.
23° with a high of 34°
Through 11am: Steady snow will become mixed with sleet or freezing rain at times by 9am.
Light snow this morning will become a mix of wintry precipitation for the afternoon.Winds S at 15 to 25 mph. Snowfall around one inch.
Bernie, that's cold! 70° is mighty toasty when your bustling around.
Thanks Adina, I hope this camera works for me. Nice tree lined Main St!
Nice idea for the Iris. I thought the ''torch'' was like a Jack in The Pulpit, sort of springing up :o)
Redhead, I'm impressed I thought of the same name someone already chose :o)
I like both Ric and Marsue's names too.
I also thought of ''Joyful Spring'' "Arizona Secret" and "Spring Delight"
Oh Pepper!! I am so so sorry!! (((((HUGE HUGS))))) A HUGE POX on the thief. Praying you find yours, and if not, a good deal.
Hi Bonnie, wow, you have the same story as all of us. The weather isn't like it used to be. It's a shame you lost your grove. Were you commercial?
Thanks for the name ideas. I think I'll use Joyful Spring. I also have a bunch of seedlings with Arizona Sandstone. I'll probably use Arizona Secrect for the best of those, they won't bloom for another year though.
# Today: Cloudy with a few showers. High 51F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
# Tonight: Steady light rain this evening. Showers continuing overnight. Low 43F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 80%.
t's 32*, we had snow, a bit of rain turned to sleet and now it's really nice out. So what am I doing in the huse? I'm not dressed to go out. I'd have to change everything.
Redhead, wow, I'm honored to have come up with a name! Another cool for the Arizona ''series'' :o) I hope to see more blooms of anything you have!
In looking at all the pictures we've taken with the new camera. I sure see a lot of clutter I could move! One excuse is the boys were here and toys were out faster than I could pick them up. But, some was my things left laying around. I think I'll be cleaning house when my coffee is gone.
Temps were nice today but it was cloudy til this afternoon when the rain came. Rained for a couple hours then moved out. Now we have snow coming in on Weds. Could see 3-6 inches. Glad I left my hubs locked in!!!
I started looking for a new camera today. Selection is limited in the zoom option I want but I'll find one that suits my needs eventually.
Crissy, I don't keep it on because it's not always needed. But if I start sliding or it feels icy then I put it on. The only time it gets used is in the winter. I have to lock my hubs in to use it and I can't keep them locked in year round. It affects my steering and will eventually get torn up if I keep em locked in for several months.
Pepper, I said a prayer for your camera yesterday. I hope you can find a nice new one at a decent price.
I almost got a Nikon Coolpix, but after trying it out, asking the ''Best Buy'' guy questions and deciding I would take it, he said, well we're out, but you can order it online. I said thanks and walked out. I'm glad I did. I think I'm going to like my super zoom better.
The Nikon zoom was 26x. Pixels 10mgs. Not bad at all! The price I've seen it at, cheaper than "Best Buy" is $279.00.
It was overcast this morning and got up to near 40*. Staerted raining middle of the day and has rained all day. Got dark early. Snow tomorrow and through Tuesday. At least that is what they are saying today. I'm sure it will change tomorrow. Usually changes everyday.
I got the Nikon Coolpix. I am still trying to figure it out.
I never did figure out all the features of my Nikon. I kept trying though. lol.
The rain we had yesterday froze overnight so roads were slippery in places and my driveway is now a sheet of ice. Temps got into low 20s and remained cloudy all day. Tomorrow we have anywhere from 4-7 inches of snow coming. Gonna be a mess...again. lol
Dyson Dark, 28° And dropping quickly after a high of 39° with rain today. Forecast for NW Pa. calls for highs mostly in the teens and low 20's for the next 10 days.
This was the first "warm" day we've had recently so I scraped away the snow and got the last of my daffodil and hyacinth bulbs planted. With the cold returning I figured it was my last chance to get them in the ground.
Beautiful blooms RedHead!
Sorry you lost your camera Pepper. Cameras come with so many bells and whistles these days that it's next to impossible to learn them all.
15° with a high of 16°
Cloudy with temperatures steady in the low teens.
Scattered snow flurries early. Clouds will linger later on. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Celia, that's sun on your face weather! Love the bitty bird :o)
Cajun, I hope it won't get icy under the snow. I'm still trying to figure out my Canon. At least it is a point and shoot. I'm not entirely in the dark, LOL!
Googling it, or going to it's home page, is helpful. Even Youtube has people trying to show you how.
Pepper, I hope your driveway just gently slides you out into the road :o)
Early, we were supposed to drop temps and still haven't. Maybe today. Wow, still planting bulbs. We are frozen here!
Yep, I might have to use a tripod on the longest zoom. So far, I took a long shot out in the country without one and I have shaky hands. I do notice the view really bounces when trying to hold it steady while going down the road.
Absloutely cool picture!! They still look like sheep enlarged!
My country zoom. I don't think I'm zoomed all the way either. This is 8/10 a mile from town.
I check on my internet and see what going on the weather oh boy it will be more snow coming up today and tomorrow:
Today: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Wind chill values as low as 15. East wind between 5 and 8 mph.
Tonight: Periods of snow. Low around 21. Wind chill values as low as 11. Northeast wind between 8 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Thursday: Periods of snow, mainly before noon. Temperature falling to around 20 by 10am. Wind chill values as low as 8. North wind between 9 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
As on Monday afternoon, I has leak in my kitchen faucet and get new one and install myself then still leak mmmm I check the pipe and drain pipe got rust and hole so next morning I call plumbing to come to my home and fix the drain pipe remove it heck job to remove the old drain pipe and install the plastic pipe so I am so happy then I get ready go someplace I notice my van got one flat tire and I get grumble again it like bad luck this week!
My hands are shaky too so I don't get a lot of good pix. Mine is just a 15X zoom but it does pretty good. It's auto focus, which is nice, but it has so many features I have not found yet. And remembering how to get to them after I do find them is next to impossible.
It has warmed up here. Nearly 40* already but drizzly. I imagine we will get more rain again today. Temps are supposed to drop drastically by Friday. Not looking forward to that. Ground is still frozen here too or I'd plant my garlic that should already have been planted. Grrr
Rusty, we call that being "snakebit". Hope it turns around for you.
I spent $200.00 for my Kodak Z519 camera, it's a 10x zoom, 10 megapixels, 2.5" LCD screen and the settings are extremely easy to figure out. I love that camera! I know that some of us need more zoom than that but it's great!
Rusty, a big WOW on you trying to do it yourself! Trouble is, sometimes the job IS too big, but at least you tried!
Awww, praying for good luck for you.
Cajun, that's my problem, finding the settings twice! So far I've managed to hold the camera still for the country long shots, so I'm happy with that.
Cold snap for us Friday too. It looks like for a lot of States.
Snakebit is a good way of putting it!
Elena, I loved Annie Oakly when I was a kid. Burst my bubble when I tried to hit a target with a BB gun. I still can't hit a target, LOL!
Cajun, ROTFL&L!!! Sad but true!
Chrissy! That's a nice car!! I'll bet you can't wait! You've waited so long already. I think with our sun, we'll be frigid!
Celia, you do take some good distance shots! I am amazed by a lot of the things you post. I got lucky in having ''found'' money, and a brain storm that I could get another camera. I didn't even know this sort of zoom was out there.
Well, gotta get ready to go get groceries. It's a good day to fill the cupboards and we've almost finished the milk.
We are expecting about an inch of snow in my area starting around noon. This is a fast moving system and won't stay around long, thank goodness.
# Today: A mix of wintry precipitation this morning. Then periods of snow expected this afternoon. Cold. Temps nearly steady in the mid 30s. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precip 70%. Snow accumulating 1 to 2 inches.
# Tonight: Partly cloudy skies. Low 19F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
# Tomorrow: Sunny along with a few clouds. High 36F. Winds light and variable.
Tulip from a couple of years ago. "Triumph" I didn't dig it up and it didn't make it through our hot summer to the next season. *sniff*
We had a few days of above freezing temps at night. It was so nice to be able to uncover plants and let them see some sun. It even rained which will make tomorrows temps in the low twenties easier for them to handle.
I on the other hand HATE the cold. Put a sheet on me, I'm still pissed! ;)
Thanks! I am losing a lot of things that my car has but I want to get rid of mine while I can still get something out of it, it'll be alright, the one thing that I'm going to miss and probably chew myself out for not getting a car that has it is the variable speed intermittent wipers. Oh, and XM Radio, absolutely LOVE my XM Radio!
BeachBarbie! Wish I was on the beach, where it's warm.
We got snow today but nothing stuck, it was above freezing. Now that the streets are wet it's below freezing. HHmmm wonder how my commute's gonna be in the morning. I took a vacation day today, they were talking about it freezing and snowing and sleeting and I didn't want to risk driving in it. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get used to the weather here! ARGH!!
For the weather here in my area all I can say is WOW. We got 7 inches yesterday of snow. We had an inch within an hour. It came down fast and hard.
Here's the funny part; apparently when people hear we are supposed to get 4-7 inches of snow they think the world is gonna end and they hit the stores and clean them out. Yesterday our store was so packed. I have NEVER seen that many people there at once. We had all registers going and we had some butchers and some of our produce people sacking because we didn't have enough help. I ended up being the only one running carts for the most part yesterday and the cold really got to me at times. It's not easy pushing 5-7 carts up a hilly driveway in 20 degree weather by yourself. But it had to be done so I got it done.
Today we were pretty dead at work. We enjoyed the quiet and managed to get alot of backstock run to the shelves and got the store to where it didn't look so empty. A good day considering. lol
Now, I'm not done yet with weather. LOL. Tomorrow we have more snow coming. Could get up to one inch of snow. Sat and Sun we have more coming with Sun being the main event. Could see up to 7 MORE inches of snow on top of what we already have. Good thing I have 4WD. LOL. It's saving our butts right now.
Bernie, did you read in the prayer forum about Jo falling and breaking her right wrist and hitting her head? Check over there concerning the tests she takes tomorrow.
Edited to say that I just read that you have found the thread for Jo. I hope they find good news for her on those tests.
-7° with a high of 11°
Partly cloudy with temperatures warming rapidly to 1° to -3°.
Snow flurries and snow showers. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%.
It's COLD out there today!
Marsue, Spring will get here! I'd love to be able to dig roses and other flowers, LOL! I would plant ''Triumph.'' It's beautiful!!
Rusty, I love that picture!! Rusty really keeps an eye on what you are doing!
Barbie, this is our first major below 0 weather. Move over, I'm bringing a wool blanket and comforter to put on top of that sheet!!
Chrissy, it's a shame to have to leave things out. DH switched a lot of things out on his new truck and we too don't keep them forever. New trucks are a luxury he lets himself have.
Laughing over getting used to the weather. Might as well, It's crazy in Iowa too!
Pepper, oh my gosh!! 7''!! We got nothing. It all slid under us and covered Illinois!
Laughing, I pack my own groceries, so I would free one person up. Don't people shop once a week to keep their cupboards, fridge and freezer full?
Laughing again. I am nice and put my cart and any others in straight so the person having to deal with them has it easier. I can't believe how many just shove it towards the cart corral and walk off. I am amazed you were able to navigate that many. I think three are hard enough!
A very good day!
A very good truck! I hope the weather guys are lying this time!
