SO GLAD YOU ARE BACK CHAR!!!!!

Maxine ... keep moving girl. I understand how it is ... have that too along with my Fibromyalgia. It's a bummer!!!!

Got through 1 large bag of seedies last night. DH laughed at me setting at my puter with little packets of seeds all around me while I looked up things to see what they were!!!

Calling for Winter Storm to hit here Wednesday night into Thursday here. If it does very much, I can't get up the hills around my house to get to the highway. My supervisor will have a stroke if I can't make it in after being off for 3 weeks with my back & leg. LMBO!!!!!!!

For all you expecting bad weather, I feel for you and you stay safe and warm. Don't get out taking chances. It not worth your life in case of accidents. Even if you are safe others can slide into you. That stuff is bad to be out in. Stay inside.
Hugs everyone. Bright sunny day here after 2 days of rain. Suppose to get to 53 today.
Crit, enjoy yourself with those seeds. Spring will be coming soon and planting season will be upon us.
Kelly, Mechelle said she would germinate seeds for us ladies so I'll be gathering some to send her soon so she can start them in the greenhouse. We should have gorgeous gardens this summer!!!!
Have a great day everyone.
Al ,I got some new tomatoe seeds this year for a black tomato that is rare. Can't remember the name off hand but if you would like to try a couple holler. I ordered it from another country. These are not here in USA yet. BIG SMILE, but they will be this summer! ;-)

Mekos, are you gonna share your bikini pics with us? LOL. I think I'd freeze to death being outside in a bikini in 53 weather. That's very sweet of our Mechelle. Nice we have a greenhouse owner amongst our friends;o)

Trish, congratulations on the weight loss - it is very hard to do and definitely an accomplishment. I am not overweight by a long shot but could still definitely stand to lose a few pounds. The older you get the harder it is and the more you feel a few extra pounds. I've been exercising more so hopefully that's the ticket to feeling my best;o)

Seeds, seeds, seeds everywhere!!!!!!! I'm in hog ...er... seed heaven! I just found one package that really made my day ... Easter Egg Plant seeds. Woooohoooo. Now if I could just find some shrimp plant and lollipop plant I would truly be overwhelmed! tee hee
Hey, have a question ... If I plant one of the lollipops in the bottom of the box, will I get a lollipop plant? Or lollipop tree? If that works, think I'll plant a hundred dollar bill as well ...deeeeeeep into the woods.
OK, back to seed seeing. I will probably be able to send her back into flight tomorrow if I can get to town. If not, Monday.

OK, decision has been made. Our back yard that is fenced in isn't all that big. Maybe I should till it all up, plant it all to flowers, and make little walking paths around to the gates and stuff. Think I could convince my DH this is a good idea because he won't have to MOW IT??????

Crit those are so pretty. I love horses. If I was able to take care of one I'd have one to ride.
When I was young we had a strawberry roan and a couple mules. Back then they worked the fields cause we dint have tractors. The strawberry horse was so tall Daddy had to take boards off the barn stall entry just to get her in. And it was a huge barn. That one bucked me off one day. (Long story, almose no more me.) After I married we got a quarter horse and a black morgan, and the little colt that had been almost starved to death at birth and raised it but it always stayed little and just ran free in the pasture. After my DH died I got rid of everything and moved. That was many years ago.
Yep the shrimp plant is red/ orange and seems it had a light color in there too. Was rather pretty in bloom. I saw it yesterday in the greenhouse still green and doing good.

Wes has good days and bad ones, so we just take it one day at a time. he just had 2 where he couldn't get up or eat anything at all but today about noon he perked up and wanted to eat so hopefully he will get stronger. It just seems to be like a roler coaster. You never know how or what tomorrow will bring. Hid broke foot is doing much better and has stopped swelling but still not completely healed. It is still very tender when he stands on it. But he still tries to walk with his walker to the bathroom. I'm getting him an electric chair to be able to get around so he can be up more and go out some. I think that will keep him from being so depressed all the time.
Thanks for asking Nettie.
Kaylee will be here tomorrow to spend the day. I went by today to see about her and she grabbed me and would not let go. Her mama reached for her so we could go and she slapped at her hands, she took her anyway and Kaylee screamed and cried till she gave her back to me. I had to stay longer till she was settled down. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry. Poor baby. She still whimpered when I left but I had to go and just closed the door behind me. I'll try to take a new picture tomorrow of her. Haven't took many lately.

I knew Jake wasn't the seabrite, BUT the seabrite was in the same picture with jake. If you enlarge the picture you can see it. But the picture above this post is the same one she is wanting to see.
Here is a link to some on the internet also. Some are silver seabrite and some are golden seabrite. I like them all.

I'm with you Crit, I too really miss all my critters, lol! Just told DH that we need to buy a small acreage out of town somewhere so we can have critters again. Especially since DH and family are planning on moving to the city and the grandbabies won't get to learn about them at all then. Sure hope that work picks up on the new business and I can start making really good money so we can buy a place!

We bought a new place out of town a year ago. I was hoping for 10+ acres, but those are hard to find, and being so close to Tulsa, acreage prices are PRICY! We have 3 acres here, but the people who own the land next to us have 18 acres that they let us run our 3 horses on. There isn't much grass as Emu use to be raised there, and they picked out all the grass. But, there is a large pond and we feed them year round, so it works out great!

Land prices are high here too. This is one area of the country that didn't really see the prices drop like the rest of the nation. But most of the small acreages here are about 30-40 acres, which would be great by me! Don't see much for 3-5 acreages. Course, there's always places of several thousand acres, but really can't afford that, LOL!

All these pretty chickens and horses, wow! I grew up with chickens as a kid many years ago, we didn't do much with horses. I went to a lot of cowboy movies though...

I had my second try at the waffle maker this morning. I used Bisquick batter with one egg and a higher temperature for 5 full minutes like you ladies reccommended. NOW we're making really light and crispy waffles. My brother had gotten me a six jar assortment of Knott's Berry Farm jams and jellies. We also had maple and caramel syrups and cool whip on top. Wow, I could gain my 40 pounds and 4 inches back if I keep this up! Probably should watch myself on this one. Thanks for all your great advice, the Bisquick batter is definately the way to go. There's a dozen recipes in the owner's manual that also look good, including a fudge brownie mix with pecan nuts.

Al you can make your own syrup if you want also. Sometimes I make jelly and (purposely)dont add enough surejell to make it solid and use it for syrup. It is awsome! You can make it with any kind of fruit you want. My mon use to make syrup out of sugar too and add flavoring. Very easy.

Thanks for the thought nettie, but they aren't naked ladies or surprise lillies. I thought the leaves looked like Amarylis and I put a picture up for comments and they agreed. Said to leave them where they were until spring, then move them, so that is what I am going to try.

I agree with Kelly, Crit. I have those too and also have Amaryllis. They sure look like Crinum to me. They may not have been old enough to bloom before so I'd leave them alone and wait a while before doing anything at all.

Al, I am so glad that you are here! I'm going to try something different for me this year with some of your sunflower seeds. I saw a picture today of sunflowers growing in someone's yard with morning glories climbing the sunflowers. It was very pretty! And I'm thinking it will attract the hummingbirds to the mg's and other birds to the sunflowers. It should be great fun to watch this summer!

That Crinum on the picture has been in that spot this will be the 2nd year... I'm hoping it will bloom this year. A friend here gave me some more when she divided hers last fall - they are still small little things. They are gorgeous when they bloom. The only thing I find with them being in shade is the leaves seem to get longer and wilder than if they are in the sun. However, our sun they don't like too much;o)

I'm hoping to win the lottery soon so I can retire, garden and travel the country visiting all my DG friends;o)

Wow Sandi, I never though about that. Will the MGs not pull down the sunflowers though since sunflowers are tall to start with and when the wind blows hard they sometimes break anyway around here. But it does sound cute. I have Mgs that climb trees in my goat pen, they washed down there by the rain and my trees look to be blooming in the summer. Wild with color.

Sunflowers are fairly sturdy, though sometimes I have bunched them up and tied them together for added support. Some of my Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes managed to trellis their way up them. Mgs will climb most anything standing upright so they're a great combination with sunflowers.

Do you plant seeds now for sweet peas or wait till later?
Al I bet Livi loved the waffles even more just because she helped her Papa make them. Precious moments!

We are in BLIZZARD warnings. High winds (50-40 mph), whiteout conditions, have 12 inches right now and it is going to continue to about 4:00 or so. Airports closed. So un-natural for us to get this much at one time, but this is the 2nd one in 2 years. The other one was not considered a 'blizzard' like this one is ... but we got about 10 inches that time. Buildings are collapsing. The new Hard Rock had the roof on the new poker room that hasn't been opened that long collapse! They said it was the size of 3 football fields. No one hurt, it had begun leaking water and they evacuated the area. I'm huddled down in the comfy recliner, fire in the fireplace, not going ANYWHERE! The farthest I venture is to take the fur babies outside to potty. One of them is 16 and blind, so it is especially hard on her. I am letting them potty on the patio because it just has a little snow on it. Oh, I guess we will have to travel across the road to feed the horses this afternoon. DH went over at 3 a.m. and got their feed pans, so they weren't buried by snow. He is up all different hours of the night. lol Then down to chop ice... grrrrrrrrrrrrr
This is suppose to continue all week ... then up to 40 on Friday. Told my boss I was calling in 'snow' (instead of sick) for the rest of the week. :-)
Here is our new addition to the family. He is a purebred Rat Terrier I rescued from one of our local PAWS shelters. They were showing a shelter that was going to have to close it's doors due to lack of funding, and I caught a quick glimpse of him on the film. I backed up the film and showed my husband, and the next night I went over and got him. He's a good boy. Sets on your lap quietly, but runs around and the other dog chases him when they are outside. He's 6 months old, have to train him to use the doggie doors.

WELL HELLO EVERYONE!!!
Man, I had to follow 5 links, scroll down 15 times and look at all those pretty pictures of what all I've missed out on! Happy Birthday to all, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, too! Love all the puppies, grandbabies, horseback riders and all the flower pics of course! Sure hope everyone is doing well and I have missed all of you!
I have been so busy at the nursery getting it ready for a March 15th opening date and ordering liners, seeds, plants, baskets, windchimes, and all of that fun stuff. We bought another location in Ashland, MS. It's a statuary but we are going to add plant sales there so we are just ticking the time down, waiting for that wonderful day when my hubby can QUIT HIS JOB!! My son Michael has come home and he is going to work at the statuary with my hubby pouring molds and making all those pretty concrete tables, benches and what not.
The girls have been helping me at the nursery along with my MIL and aunt so it's shaping up to a family affair! I have lots of tropicals and ferns and just got in my first liner shipments of Lantana, Calibrachoa, Petunias, Setcreasea, and hanging baskets. So I have been really busy potting them up. I have this really cool machine that I got to use for the first time yesterday. It is a seed planter that operates on vacuum. I pour the seeds onto the tray, (different trays depending on the liner trays, 72, 105, 288) turn on the vacuum, it sucks the seed to the hole, I flip it upside down and unplug the vacuum hose and it plops the seed right down on the soil in each hole. It is so fun! LOL
Saves a ton of time, too. Yesterday I did a tray of cabbage, a few marigolds, and am going to try others today. Fun!
Hope all is going well for everybody and hope to see you all again soon! Hugs!! Thoughts to all who are in winter storm warnings. TTYS!

PS The pic is of my new sign that's due in anyday now! :D

Well, it's so cold here that when DH went out to get in the pickup, the door handles popped right off. Shattered plastic in his hand. GRRRRRR!! Broke both off, so we now have no way to get the doors open on his pickup. If we have to break the window out to open the door, I'm gonna be really P-O'd. Al, I'm thinking flying somewhere warmer is a great idea !!!! Too bad all the airports are closed too, lol!

crit your dh should have used a hair dryer on the door handles before he tried to open them. sory he crunched his door handles some plyers might help him get in it. don,t know for sure but beats knocking a window out. can you open them from the inside like go in by the window with a cloths hanger and pull the inside handle and open the door once you get in yyou could leave a window down enough to reach in and open the door the local police might have a solution to your problem you can tell i locked myself out of my car alot did that alot at work 3 yimes one might thats when i had a key made for it and left it at maintance, worxed for me, love nettie

Well, we finally got up to double digits above zero, and now it's going to snow more. Well, it's a good thing! I was afraid that the 3-6 feet we already have was going to melt off before June.
