Celia, thanks for starting a new thread! Great skies!
Hey, Crissy! Hurray for the sun!
E_B, wow, love that picture with the sheep! They look so alike!
Sally, lovely zoom! You go girl!
Rusty, cute! I'll post some pics of my doggies later.
It's a very strong wind and getting colder. We're expecting snow tonight...grrr!
They say we might get snow (very light flurries) on Monday. This is the time of year we, if it does snow, get our first snow, not the third!
Oh, and I wrote yesterday that it was going to get down to 22 today. No such worries, it's only going to get down to 23! HA!
Thank goodness for propane in the greenhouse. My poor tropical hibiscus are pretty much devoid of leaves.
Crissy, is Malvern anywhere near Mt View? We go there every fall with Melody and her hubby. That is also the area where my maternal grandmother's family hailed from.
billyporter, I hope you have a good time at TGP. As you can see, there are more forums there than Carter had Little Liver Pills. (We old folks are the only ones who will understand that.) There is something for everyone. You will notice several names of folks who write there and are also members here at DG. Check out our recipes and also our Humor forum. I have jokes characterized according to topics and it is easy to find some that interest you. Likewise for the recipes.
Still cold with our high in the mid 20s and flurries off and on all day.
Tomorrow night the snow moves in and will last all thru Sunday. Still calling for 6-7 inches.
Took truck to mechanic. It's been making a few noises and this morning was making some knocking sounds. Turns out it just needs a tool to adjust the pulleys. Had the tool at one point but threw it away along with a bunch other stuff when no one said anything about keeping them. lol.
Tried to download pics off my other camera and now it won't download. Grrrr... Must be a computer problem.
Sounds like mthe whole country is in weather disorts!! we are having a very cold spell right now..today it got to 40ish & that's been the warmest it's been in two weeks!! We did get a little snow last week & we are due for more precip of some sort this weekend!!
I didn't move to Texas from the north to get cold!!!! hahahahahaha I've had my fair share of snow & cold thank you very much!! hee hee
13° with a high of 16°
Some snow flurries during the morning hours will give way to cloudy skies this afternoon. Cold. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Rusty, wrap up and stay warm! We just have to get thru February and then we'll be so happy!
Barb, it will be interesting over the years to see if your weather stays in this pattern. Do the hibiscus normally shed leaves? We have had a lack of sun here. I'll be glad to see it!
Elena, I will try to get there one of these days. Yep, I saw a few friends there already. That's always nice! Recipes are my downfall!!
Pepper, I don't know whether to laugh or cry over your truck! It's had it's problems. I won't even mention the tool, LOL! But I'm so glad it was a minor problem! Grrr on the pictures!
Ric, I'm glad your streets cleared. There's nothing like seeing that salty dry pavement! Smiling over the WW fluid :o)
Hi Cindylove! I don't think anyone ever gets used to the cold unless they were born to it. I'm ready for Spring mentally. Really ready for garden and flower seeding, no. I need to get off the computer and bury my nose in the seed catalogs!
We have a memorial service this afternoon. SIL lost her son, age 46, to a brain tumor. Photos taken of him this October were the picture of health. That's how fast it took him. He had the few years they gave him. Funny how they are pretty much right on that.
I was thrilled to find a Brown Thrasher in my tree! I read that they frequent bird feeding stations, but I've never seen them at mine before.
Billie you asked:
"Barb, it will be interesting over the years to see if your weather stays in this pattern. Do the hibiscus normally shed leaves? We have had a lack of sun here. I'll be glad to see it!"
If I kept my greenhouse warmer, they wouldn't. But I don't want to spend that much on heating it. They are easier for me to keep if they don't go completely dormant. I've killed many over the years by over watering in the Winter.
It's snowing for the third time this Winter. My husband, whose family has had a house here since the 40's says that it didn't used to be that uncommon for there to be snow.
I was driving back onto the island about an hour ago, snow had accumulated in the sides of the road, but not the road itself. And I passed - a snow plow truck. Holy crap!!! They might be absolutely common where y'all are, but I didn't know our county even owned one. I've never seen one around here before. If I hadn't been driving, I would have SO gotten a picture!!!
That picture is gorgeous!
My sister went to Franklin and Marshall. I did grow up in the North, in upstate NY, in the Albany area.
I will say, the longer it stays cold, the more I'm getting used to it. Still hate it though.
7° this morning High of 15°
Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. Cold. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph.
Rusty, no snow here even tho we had chances.
Adina, it's nice to have birds with color!
Barb, I hear you on heating the green house too much.
Laughing over the snow plow! Common here, and you should see the huge blades on some of them! They built a County maintainer shed just up the road to the north of me so I also see a road grader daily :o)
Pepper, are the weather liars lying this time?
Early, I agree, January is going! I'm finally making my garden seed order because time is slipping away! I never used to procrastinate before I got my own computer :o)
I sure feel for the girl, but they are tough, and determined. It is a most exellent photo!
e_b every time I see that photo I'm picturing it as an old 'Time' or 'Life' cover from the 50's-60's.
Personally I think it's one of the best 'documentary' snow shots I've seen.
Makes you just want to know the back story!
Cold with a high of around 18* with a freezing mist off and on all day.
Our parking lot at work didn't get plowed today so we had a heck of a time bringing in carts. I really wish I could post pics. I would show you how they plowed it the last time. It's a mess the way they did it. We have a pile of snow going part way down the middle of a driving lane. So cars that want to park have to be on one side and hope another car doesn't come from the other direction and hit you. Unfortuntely we can't do anything about it. It's mall property and the owner doesn't care and neither does the manager. They also pushed snow into both cart corrals and a coworker and I had to dig them out today so carts could get in there and out of the way of drivers.
High of 30 and sunny today. Grader came by again today and graded the road some more. Trying to get rid of the snow so as it melts we don't get so much ice like we have in the past. Supposed to get more snow sometime in the next week.
We had -14° here yesterday morning--and 31° this morning. 45° warmer!
Thanks Ric. I should have taken another photo after I passed her of her coming towards me. They don't like to be photographed though. Several years ago the head of one of our local Amish sects decided that bicycles were allowed. They ride them everywhere now. Usually not in that kind of weather though.
I hiked into the Ernst Trail along French Creek before sun-up yesterday morning hoping for some nice foggy sunrise photos like I've made in past years but conditions didn't come together. I did manage a couple half-way decent photos though. It was cold!
24° with a high of 22°
Mostly cloudy skies. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight: Overcast. Low 13°
Rusty since it's now the 26th, I'll see what your weather was really like :o)
Bernie, just, WOW...
Ric, agree on the Amish girl on the cover of a magazine!
Aww, poor heavy kitty ornament, LOL!
Awww Pepper, you shouldn't have to be out there freezing. That's not normally part of your job.
Chrissy, our Spring warms in March also, but hides during April. If we're lucky, May warms up, but it can be cold in June.
ROTFL&L over the comment about fighting yourself in bed. Very funny mental picture!
Pepper and Ric, smiling over the leaky roofs :o)
Early, you're danged cold too! You could have gone for a close side shot to respect their beliefs. It's still a picture that speaks volumes and I think it belongs in a museum, if any are dedicated to their way of life. Yes, it's that good!
It's a gorgeous sunrise picture!
These two pictures remind me of waiting in line at the water fountain at school.
I am so sorry. I always come unglued at the seams when I lose a pet that I have loved for any period of time, much less that long. My heart goes out to you. She was beauty. I am glad she didn't have a lingering death. Those are so hard!!!!
That is a precious picture. I hope you will get another one right away. It is the sincerest form of flattery to your lost pet to get another immediately. It shows how much you loved the last one that you would want to try again. A bad pet makes you want to just give up on pets.
I'm not getting another right away as it's pretty hard having a cat out in the country where there are 50 dogs that run lose all the time, and I won't keep a cat inside, Tiga was in and out all the time, until the last couple weeks. I want to grieve over her like we do, then do the things I want to do for a while before getting another pet, me and Dave agreed that we don't want to be constrained to the house like we were, we love traveling and since we don't know anyone here to house sit like we did in CA it makes it very difficult.
My last cat had some very serious health issues since he was born with feline herpes. I could never leave him with anyone the whole five years because he needed special care. I know what you mean about not having anyone to care for them. It does tie you down. That cat was an excellent traveler so I could at least take him with me on short trips or when I could leave him in his big cage in a motel or home. He made 5 trips to Mt. View, the first one when he was just three months old.
Tiga was stricken with Irritable Bowel Syndrome when she was 11 and lived on steroids. Funny as she was terminally ill but didn't pass away from the illness but something completely different, we think she stroked out. She was fine yesterday morning when I was getting ready for work and after Dave got up, then he said about noonish her equilibrium got messed up as did her balance, then shortly after that she became lethargic and put herself to bed. He checked on her then and an hour after and she was still alive, he checked on her an hour after that and she was gone, but hadn't been gone for very long at all as she was still warm everywhere. I was dreading the day I was going to have to put her down, thank goodness it didn't come to that.
It was steroids that finally did my kitty in! I don't think they can stay on those very long without it killing them. I didn't know that at the time. My kitty had digestive problems also and we had to do something. That seemed the only possibility but it was his undoing. Our situation was also quick. I will definitely do much more research into this thing if any vet wants to use steroids again. I think they are not good for animals or people.
Sorry to hear about Tiga, Chrissy. My old man Whiskers is 14 years old. Still going strong though.
I don't know if we got above freezing today or not. We have have been right about there. Had freezing fog this morning and it lingered til around noon or so. Roof started leaking again late afternoon but not like yesterday. Just a few drips here and there.
Elena I 100% agree, but looking at the other side of that if Tiga hadn't have been on steroids she would have died 4 years ago, the only medicine out there right now to control digestive/intestinal problems is steroids, I tried everything in the book and she got down to 4 lbs, normally 12lbs, so I just caved in, better to have her on steroids than not have her at all. If steroids gave her blood clots and killed her I gave her the longest life I possibly could, a month shy of 15 years old is an old cat. I had 5mg chews that I cut up into 3rds, she got 1/3 of a pill every 3rd day. 3 different vets told me she was on an extremely low dosage. It's not uncommon for cats to stroke out anyway.
That's the baffle of the whole thing, she was going strong and seemed fine when I left for work. I don't know if you all remember, the week before Thanksgiving she became lethargic for 2 days then couldn't jump up at all because her hind legs were not working right and I took her to the vet on the 4th day, but of course the day I took her she came out of that 100% so he couldn't find anything wrong without extensive expensive tests. We blamed it on arthritis, which that was the first cold snap we had so it was a possibility, now I'm thinking that was a stroke as well and she was lucky enough to pull out of it. I seriously thought she was going to pass away then, but she didn't. This time she was only lethargic for a couple of hours before she passed. I'm glad she passed away in her sleep, wish we could all be so lucky.
It's supposed to be 50* today, and sunny!!! Saturday is supposed to be 70*!!!! I'm going to go look for a headstone and get Tiga's grave the way I want it on Saturday, maybe that will help with an apparent closure issue I'm having.
Oh, I didn't mean to indicate that I thought you had given her something that would kill her. It was just my conclusion that treating irritable bowel with steroids, which is what we also did, was not good. (My kitty had herpes and that was something that led to other things like irritable bowel. We started with very low doses of steroids but they had to get stronger as the didn't work unless increased in strength as time went on.) I realize they don't have anything else and it is that or nothing. It is just the old deal of not having any other choice and trying to get as much good quality out of life as possible, whether we are talking humans or animals. Your kitty was indeed old. Once humans or animals get to be very old, it is inevitable that things will start to go wrong sooner or later. That is just the way things are and all the lamenting over it isn't going to change a thing. I too, hope to die in my sleep. Who or what could ask for better than that?
Alena, I know you weren't implying that, didn't make it sound like you were. Lol That's why I said the other side of that, using steroids is a catch 22, if you don't give them they'll die, if you do give them they'll live longer but they'll die, what do you do? I think she got irritable bowel from the move across country, we weren't here for 3 weeks and she was sick, perfectly healthy before we left. I've read that moving will cause irritable bowel and that was a 4 day ride in a car. I'm wondering if steroids cause blood clots, I need to research that.
I think when the body gets bombarded by stress of any kind our bodies and animal bodies can start having problems they never had before. I am an example of that. I never had fibromyalgia until I had a serious health problem and was in the hospital for 5 weeks. Before that, I was as healthy as a horse. After all the whoopala was over and I thought I should be back to normal once again, I found I had come down with fibromyalgia. Now with an auto immune illnesss to deal with, I find that almost anything (such as a cold, flu, stress, etc.) hits me hard. I think that is what happened to both of our kitties. Mine had feline herpes and yours was dealing with age. Both of them were susceptible to get hit by problems such as irritable bowel disease.
LOL Elena, I can't even write, I meant to say, "I didn't MEAN to make it sound like you were." Sorry about that!! Good grief we have a bunch of people in this office and they keep coming in to say hi and I'm getting distracted, which isn't a very difficult thing to do anyway. LOL
I think you hit the hammer on the head with that one! It's strange how the body works. I have told everyone here in the office that I don't do stress, it makes me old. I knew losing her was going to be hard, but I didn't think it was going to be this hard, this is as bad as losing a child.
What a precious picture. She will always stay in your heart and thoughts. I know that!!!!!! Been there, done that for sure, but it will get easier with time. We don't ever forget them though, especially when they have been super special kitties. I will say some prayers for you my friend. The Lord understands your pain. He is the one who gave our precious darlings to us so he does understand our sadness.
Elena That is very true! I have spent the afternoon here at work lol going through my pictures on this computer and pulling out all of the ones of Tiga and putting them all into a separate folder. That was very therapeutic and I can't believe how much her fur had changed colors over the years! It made me realize that she did get old and it was her time, and I feel more like myself now than I have since Dave called me Tuesday afternoon. It probably won't last but this is a great start!
High of around 50 again today but tomorrow only 40 for a high and we go downhill from there. MAJOR snowstorm coming starting Sunday with drizzle which will then freeze then snow hits on Monday and lasts thru Weds night. Tues we get heavy snow and accumulations of at least 7 inches if not more. I've also heard we will have 30 mph winds during the storm so it will be blizzard like conditions if not a true blizzard. Gonna be fun...NOT!! lol
27° with a high of 32°
Occasional snow flurries developing. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Chance of snow 30%
The 'Chance of Precip' describes the likelihood of precipitation (maybe not even measurable) in your forecast area. The chance is based upon a series of 100 instances of identical weather conditions.
For example, a 40% Chance of Precip means that precipitation occurred 40 out of 100 days with the same type of conditions expected in your area.
Shhhh, everyone is still sleeping :o)
Adina, definately a winter scene! Your hazy horizon is what we've been having!
Chrissy, after Adina's picture, I'm ready for 70's too!
Tiga took such sweet pictures. I love how she matched the house colors :o) More (((HUGS)))
Elena, I hear about so many people on Dave's with fibromyalgia. My Mom, sick for over 40 years had it too, but towards the end. She was tough and determined to stay on her feet as long as possible, but doomed to being sick from two Grandmothers.
Pepper, the January blizzards :o( I haven't looked that far ahead yet. I need to find a better weather page than the one I'm using. I wonder if I'm in for any of that?
The ice is the worst!! Better get to the store and stock up, LOL!
Fibro is no fun but at least it doesn't kill you! There are certainly worse things to have, that's for sure. I am sorry your mom had such a bad time of it. I surely can't complain but life is all in what you make out of it. It could be better in most cases of illness but it most assuredly could be worse.
I thought Bernie was the only one who took pictures while driving down the road. LOL
Only 55 MPH!
Got to be going at least 70 for good pictures!
Miserable ½" of snow this afternoon. NW wind blowing it onto the highways.
I am renting a store in a neighboring town. We are going to open an Antique shop again.
I hate that all my stuff sits in boxes. I want bit out where it can be seen. My daughter will man the place most of the time. We need to remodel some & get shelving as it is just a big open space.
Cabinets are still going strong. I got the job in the Twin Cities. Low bidder of 4, plus some couldn't figure out how to work with the lady.
High in the 40s and sunny all day. Last decent day for at least a week if not longer. Still calling for drizzle on Sunday night and turning into snow Monday. Heaviest of the snow on Tues. They are saying 6 inches for sure with high chances of more. What's weird is their forcast track hasn't changed one bit in the last few days. You know it's gonna be bad then. lol
I agree, gotta be going at least 70 mph for good pics. LOL. I do have to say though that I only take pics at that speed if I'm not driving. If I'm driving I usually stop or just stick the camera out the window if I'm going down one of our gravel roads around here.
Oooh, an antique shop. I love looking around in them. I really like the ones where stuff is just crammed in there and you have to look for your treasure. lol. And congrats on another cabinet job.
SallyBP, what a great picture ! Funny snowman!LOL Love those birds too!
Crissy, I also know how hard it is to even think of the pet you just lost, but , as Elena said, it'll get easier in time. I still have trouble thinking of or seeing my beloved Boss pictures. Hugs and prayers !
Bernie, congrats for a the antique shop!
Ric, what a wonderful view of those flowers! I suddenly felt the need to take pictures of my indoor plants.LOL
It's 30F and sunny again today, but the temps will drop to 8F tonight...brrr!
Here's my GH as seen from outside.
Adina, I'd love to see your indoor plants! They look wonderful from outside! Did you build the window just for them, or did it just happen to work out that way? If you take indoor pictures I'll be able to see the shelving. All in all, it's a perfect spot for flowers!
Remind me never to ride with Bernie unless someone else is manning the camera. Yep. I am chicken. Might as well admit it! Bernie, that shop sounds like it could be my dream rather than yours. I am just too darned old to start over or I would do just exactly that. That is what I always wanted to do and never got the chance. When a person has a tendency to want to buy antiques and keepables at good prices, those things just add up into a HUGE collection eventually. Since junking is one of our main hobbies, it does get out of control. Congrats on the job. They won't be sorry they chose you.
It actually was nice today!
I had the top down on the convertible coming home from work and my husband and our dog took a bike ride.
The forecast is much more "normal" for this time of year. It's not supposed to get below freezing again until next Saturday. YEA!

Winter storm warning in effect from 3 am Monday to noon cst wednesday,
The NWS in Kansas city/pleasant hill has issued a winter storm warning for mixed precipitation and heavy snow, which is in effect from 3 am Monday to noon cst Wednesday. The winter storm watch is no longer in effect.
Locations, central Missouri including richmond and lexington.
Timing, freezing drizzle, light freezing rain or snow will be possible early Monday morning through Monday night. Significant accumulating snowfall will impact the region late Monday night through Tuesday night.
Snow and ice accumulations, a light glaze of ice up to a tenth of an inch will be possible on Monday and Monday night with light snow accumulations. Storm total snow accumulations between 8 and 14 inches may be possible through Wednesday morning with isolated higher amounts.
Impacts, this storm will arrive in multiple waves. Freezing drizzle or light freezing rain will lead to icy conditions on primary and secondary roads by the Monday morning commute. Once heavy snow arrives, roads will become snow covered and travel will be difficult to extremely dangerous on Tuesday. This storm has the potential to bring travel to a halt over much Missouri on Tuesday and Tuesday night and perhaps Wednesday.
Other impacts, strong winds between 20 and 35 mph Tuesday afternoon will create significant blowing and drifting snow along with highly reduced visibilities into Tuesday night. Near blizzard conditions will be possible on interstate 70 and highway 50. Falling temperatures Tuesday night will produce wind chill readings well below zero by Wednesday morning.
A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous.
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Slow down and allow extra time when traveling. Practice your winter safety rules, keep a flashlight, shovel, food and water in your car in case of emergency. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts during this still developing winter storm. If you are traveling Tuesday and Tuesday night, begin to make alternative plans now.
Pep to say that doesn't sound good is a VAST understatement!
For once I'm glad our weather isn't following yours.
The storm should have played out by the time it reaches us.
We'll get the cold but not the wet, or at least only a minimal amount.
PERIODS OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION ARE EXPECTED MONDAY EVENING THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING. THIS PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO INITIALLY TAKE
THE FORM OF SNOW AND SLEET...BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO SLEET AND
FREEZING RAIN LATE MONDAY NIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY. PRECIPITATION
IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION TO RAIN BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS WARMER
AIR MOVES INTO THE REGION.
SOME AREAS MAY SEE UP TO A QUARTER INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATION. TOTAL
SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AROUND AN INCH OR
I'm lucky that I don't have to work tomorrow but Tues is a whole other story. I've already told my dad he may have to drive me in. If he doesn't even want to attempt it I will have to call in. Hate to do it but if it's that bad I won't hesitate. It will be 10 times worse at work than here since the store is on a hill and is a wind tunnel.
23° now. Cloudy with snow showers becoming a steady light snow later. High 24F. Winds ENE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.
Two rounds of snow will affect eastern Iowa, northwest Illinois and northeast Missouri early this week.
The first system will bring a light snow to the area from midnight tonight until midnight Monday night. Locations along and north of Highway 20 can expect 3-5 inches, while areas to the south may see 2-3 inches of accumulation.
A second, much stronger, system will begin to impact the region early Tuesday morning into Wednesday, with the heaviest snowfall expected from midday Tuesday through about daybreak Wednesday. There is the potential for snowfall amounts from this second winter storm to be in excess of 12 inches southeast of a line from Sigourney, IA to Clinton, IA to Freeport, IL. Even higher totals over 15 inches will be possible southeast of a line from Memphis, MO to Princeton, IL. In addition to the high snowfall totals, winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph from Tuesday night into Wednesday resulting in considerable blowing and drifting snow, especially in open and rural areas.
Aw Chrissy, you aren't alone. There are a lot of us with tummy issues. Not me yet, knock wood and eating apples :o)
I'll check Accuweather out. I'm suprised I don't have it. I have every other weather bookmarked, LOL!
I'd love to see more pictures of Tiga!
I hope youi're feeling better today. Dang old stomach bug anyway.
Elena, you would have been an awesome antique dealer!
Ric, the snowman is forever in a photo :o)
Nope, not to cold at all!
Beach Barbie, yayyy :o) Boy, I'd like to see the 60's.
Oh, that kind of bike, LOL! Nice! I'm glad to see the pup has a coat too. It sure can be a chilly ride for them. Nice husband too :o)
Pepper, it's a shame your storm starts with freezing drizzle. I wonder if the road graders will keep up now?
Do you get paid sick days or is it your loss for calling in? Geeze, stay safe!!!
Ric, LOL, you are lucking out and I'm going to get it!
It's quiet this morning without the boys. We played games and dinosaurs all afternoon yesterday. I also made a play-doh out of water, glue and Borax, well, I let them mix it up two weeks ago. It still had too much water in it so DH added flour. It worked. It's softer and still stretches if you hold it in the air. It melts into itself if you try to make a snowman, but they sure like playing with it.

I better go to store before the weather hit later on... Stay warm inside again... My dogs goes crazy in my house again! All stay by me!
This is from January 17, 2010. She passed on January 25th, 2011.
I got whatever was upsetting my stomach out and am perfectly fine! Dave didn't get sick at all so I don't know, we ate the same exact things all day.
We got some thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and evening with a couple of downpours, that was so nice! I was watching The Weather Channel as I was getting ready for work this morning and it looks like the ice and snow is going to miss us and we're just going to get some thunderstorms. The severe thunderstorm weather is supposed to stay at the Arkansas Louisiana state line and south. Hope you all down there stay safe and out of harms way!
I think it's supposed to be cloudy all day with a high of 55*.
We've had a warm stint, but that's supposed to change. Tusday it's predicted to get down to 19. If it's anywhere clos, that will be a record for me. I've already lost my Hibiscus. I'm not sure on my bougainvillas, have to wait and se if they get any new growth.
Accumulations now could end up over 2 feet and drifts will be just as high on the south side of everyone's houses. Tomorrow we will have a full blown blizzard going on. Work called me today and wanted me to come in. Told them my driveway and the road is a solid sheet of ice. There was no way I could make it in. Tomorrow I may not make it in either. But now I need to go to Wal*Mart and get me some thick gloves because the ones I have are falling apart and I lost one glove. lol. Hope the asphalt is ok.
Current Weather: 4:35 AM CST FEB 1, 2011 Overcast 23°F

Rusty, I hope the storm isn't as bad as it sounds, but I think they mean it this time :o( I'm going to hate the winds and bitterly cold. Our forecast is almost your forecast.
The dogs know don't they?
Chrissy, I'm glad you are over your stomach ache.
I'd love to hear a thunderstorm right now :o)
Tiga is such a calm girl :o) She's definately a poser! She melts your heart tho.
Aww Redhead, any chance of them growing back from the roots?
Awww Pepper, bad timing on the gloves. I got a new pair last week from Farm and Fleet because Walmart had crap for selection. Everything was a driving glove. Men and women. I hope you can find some good ones.
Adina, I'm soooo jealous! LOL! What a wonderful room! The plants seem to be getting enough light. It must be nice to just walk in and look at everything. The shelves are perfect to let in light thru to the bottom plants.
I love the frosty fronds and fence :o)
Bernie, what a great shop you are going to have! What great snows too! Man!
We won't see anything major till this afternoon, so I have one last cold walk out to dump the garbage. It's too windy to burn wastebaskets, but they aren't too full. Shades are drawn and curtains closed.
Oh my! It will be up to 20 inches of snow I has to keep clean out of my french door or it will be struck like icy!

Ju enjoy it in snow and Rusty isn't happy about it...
Ug Rusty that's horrible, the radar looks nasty up there!!
I'm watching it real close today, it's not supposed to snow or ice or anything but it's going to get close. It's been raining and thunderstorms have been coming over since about 6am this morning. One storm decided to dance with me, it came over the house when I was getting ready, and since it was headed north and I drive north I caught up with it about half way to work. I drove through it and now it's caught up with me again! LOL I'm not going anywhere else so it's on it's own now.
Today I think we've already reached the high at 6am this morning at 55* and it's 48* now. Tomorrow's high is 32*.
we are getting blasted today!!!! I can't even keep up with the temps, but they are getting colder! We had sleet & snow at 3am so everything is bad! DH is off of work because he can't get there!
It's going to get colder as the week goes on! I pray for those who are homeless & hope they have somewhere warm & safe to go to!
Good old Minnesota is up & running today. Plows went by at about 8 AM. We were plowing the yard & I went for a coffee break about 9.
Couple pictures I took before I left.
Sun is now out.
15MPH wind from north. Some drifting.
2º, high today of 5º & -1º tomorrow.
welll Countrygardens... Lewisville TEXAS is looking very much like Lewisville MN!!! today!!!! hahahaha... temps are freezing too!!! It's going to be like this for the rest of the week... someone said it was to make the Super Bowl fans/teams feel right at home!!!! hahahahaha
They say they will have a hard time getting there. Already airports are closing & flights are canceled.
1975 we had a "Super Bowl" storm. It started noon on Friday, went all day Saturday, then cooled off on Sunday. -70º wind chills. It was very windy during the storm. It took many days to get all the roads open. Drifts were 12 to 15 feet high.
I lost my internet last night and thought I would not get it back til after the storm was gone. It came back today!!
We have over 2 feet of snow on the ground and we are currently in the heart of the heavy snow. A few more hours then it lightnens up. The snow has drifted so much that our road and yard and driveway are all blended in together. Wind gusts up to 40-50 mph at times.
I made it to work this morning with my dad driving but coming home was a nightmare. First off, my dad went to Walmart before he had to pick me up and my truck broke down. Won't start, won't crank, deader than dead. It's still there. My mom picked him up and brought him home to get his truck. My store closed down at 3pm today so I was out of there around 2pm. Tomorrow I most likely will not be going to work. Roads are slicker than snot and it took 2 tries for my dad to get into the driveway when we got home.
Eastbound I-70 is shut down, KCI Airport is shut down, and several other major highways around here are shut down. Visibilty is a quarter a mile to whiteout.
My brother called a bit ago and said they were gonna atttempt to come over today. I think we talked them out of it though. We just flat out told them we couldn't help them if they got stranded. We are down to 1 truck and it was having trouble with the snow and winds. Snow was getting inside the motor onto the fan belt and making it squeal. He has chains on his back tires which need to be replaced with new ones and he was afraid the rubber was gonna break on them or the chains themselves would break. So today has been an eventful day. lol
Hate to say it but we just barely got brushed by the storm.
Maybe 1/8" of ice that melted in minutes on the roads.
I was out in the truck all day never had a problem.
25 miles north was a skating rink.
It's good living in the 'Deep South'! (of Ohio)
