This plant was found in the Atascosa Highlands of southern Arizona.

The leaves look like a Dalea sp.. Of which there are about 36 species native to Arizona.
Did you find this growing in or near a wash? Or on a flat land area?

This one wasn't in a wash, it was on a hillside where it kind of flattened out. This picture doesn't show many characters but shows kind of where it was growing.

I'm adding another plant that looks similar, to my untrained eye, because it may be in the same genus. This was found near Harshaw along Harshaw road on the side of the hills there.

My hypothesis are possibly these one or two. Judging by the color and arrangement of the leaves and where they are native to (Pima County).
