Pinching marigold seedlings

Bartlett, TN(Zone 7b)

It's not quite time yet, but I'm wondering if these are supposed to be pinched?? I have seedlings now under lights. They only have the first leaves at this point but I'm wondering if I pinch them as they get bigger.

ok thanks Vickie. Do they bush out without pinching?
I've read some people pinch & some don't. I don't want to do it if it's not necessary.

HI,

I have not pinched my marigolds before, but thought I would run your question by our lead grower at the greenhouse that I work at.
His response was "You don't pinch marigolds, but can de-bud the 1st bud. For some varieties like Janie, Bonnanza, or perhaps even Durango, de-budding the first bud will help stimulate lateral branching. Most marigolds don't need de-budding"

So what he is saying, you don't "pinch" marigolds, but some de-budding the 1st flower bud is ok.
