I collect hosta, daylilies and iris. Books are so pricey I would like to see what you guys think are a good investments.

I have the older HOSTA HANDBOOK and one called GROWING DAYLILIES and some that are about perennials in general.

Rodale Press does garden books. perhaps you can find something on e-bay...

Have you looked at DG's Garden Bookworm? They have a lot of books listed, some of which have been reviewed:

I have a book on Daylilies by Walter Erhardt called "Hemerocallis: Day Lilies." I like it, even though it's getting a little old now (1992).

Another book on general gardening I like is the American Horticultural Society's "A-Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants":
