There's quite a bit of truth to the old saying: "An apple a day will keep the doctor away."
Apples are low in calories, provide both soluble and insoluble fiber and are an excellent source for a number of nutrients.
They have no fat, or sodium and the fiber they contain is equal to a bowl of bran cereal.
Rich in antioxidants, apples help fight the LDL Cholesterol. They also contain a flavanoid called phloridzin, which combats osteporosis.
So, an apple a day is probably an excellent prescription for good health!
