| Hi Everyone,
I have not been here for a long time but was with Barb from Hillsboro NH this past Saturday and she taught our friend Elaine and I some wonderful tips on how to get a flat center on things like pinwheels!! We all belong to a block of the month club and the day we pick up our new block we go to Elaines and make it the same day, and that way it is done and over for the month!! This get together was really special because special friends surprised me with a birthday cake on Saturday!! Is there any thing new starting up that I might be a part of. |

| Hi Ladybug, welcome back. Check around we have some fun things going on. New swaps are started from time to time. Mostly we chit-chat and help each other out. |

| Hi Gloria!!!!! It's about time I find you back here. We just finished sign ups for a pot holder swap. Tell you what - if you want to get your feet wet we can swap with each other for now!!! A pair of pot holders to be finished and given by Mar 1. Okay???
Our little b'day party was fun. The three of us go once a month to the LQS and then stitch our blocks together. That way, if there are any problems we are there to support and help each other.
I'm sure someone will start another Christmas block swap as Mittsy still wants blocks. Maybe by March I'll be in a position to start another. We'll see...
Gloria, these ladies are really the most wonderful people you could chat with. They are knowledgeable and friendly and caring.. Welcome...
And let me know the next weekend you and Elaine are free. I have a fun day to do with both of you!!! |

| What I showed LadybugNH was for four patches. I showed her how to make all the seams go the same way - Either clockwise or counterclockwise and they lie nice and flat. It also works for pinwheels too. It helps to eliminate some of the bulk. Another way to help make pinwheels lie flatter is to open every other seam. Ex: seams at 3,6,9 and 12 o'clock would be pressed open. Hope this helps. |

| When I have 6/8 pieces coming together I press all the seams open and then further trim away any of the extra fabric at the point. Then use a pencil eraser to "fan" them out on the back side.
Another trick is to only sew to w/in a thread or 2 of the center, then do the same from the other side. So there are a couple "threads" of fabric w/out a stitch. That also helps it to lie flatter. |
