I killed all the weeds last summer, mostly filaree, in this area and planted CA native seeds on Nov 15, 2010, since it has snowed once in Nov and once in Feb 2011. The seedlings, about two inches tall, don't seem to have been hurt. Around the edges, I planted perennials, agastache, penstamons, and salvias.

I'm hoping to have a natural meadow this spring and summer.
