any suggestions for favorites about witches and such?

I've read the Harry Potter Books
ditto the series with The Crystal Cave (my apologies to the author--can't remember--
ditto - Anne Rice - my apologies (again!) her series about the generational witch family.

But that is exactly what I am looking for and would appreciate all suggestions... Take me away from the sane and safe!

Just read a discovery of witches -- first novel for history writer so well developed plot and characters if you have a taste for alchemy, history, and romance.

I like Cassandra Palmer Series by Karen Chance
http://www.karenchance.com/books.html
I also liked the K. E. Mills series Accidental sorcerer but it was a bit slower.

I just got The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and there will be a second book coming soon. It is said to be a Harry Potter for adults but who knows??

Missing Rosie. How about Mercedes Lackey Witchworld series? Or the Dianna Tregarde series?

Yasmine Galenorn Other World/Sisters of the Moon series & Indigo Court Series

Other Paranormal/ Urban Fantasies great reads(Witches, Werewolves, Shape Shifters, Dragons etc.)

Allyson James AKA Jennifer Ashley- Dragon Series, Storm Walker Series, & Shifters UnBound Series

Ilona Andrews- Kate Daniels Series & Edge Series

Kim Harrison- Hollow Series

Keri Arthur- Riley Jension Gaurdian Series & Dark Angels Series

Maggie Shayne- Wings in the Night Series

Laurell K. Hamilton Anita Blake Vampire Series & Merry Gentry Series- beware some very strong sexual content

Love Paranormal stories but they seem to put way to much sex in them especially LKH. She gets very explicit leaving nothing to the imagination. Skipping it doesn't take away from the story line.
