I'm not going to send D-mail reminders so it's up to you to post if you're still in.

I have a few ideas. I am not good at the organizing though so will just put it out there...

Dog clothes swap

Cook book swap

Gardening book swap

Any specific kind of book swap actually

Hand soap and lotion swap

Bead swap for those jewelry makers out there

Plant markers swap (actually make some markers specifically for their buddy with provided info to include)

Ribbon swap

Specified holiday decor swap

Music or movie swap

Gourmet coffee swap

Purse or pocket book swap (good condition only)

Stationary swap

Unused greeting card, various holiday cards, or blank note card swap

Fabric swap (for those who like to quilt)

I could go on and on and on but I will stop here for now.

Hey!

I had this idea a few weeks ago - how about a coffee mug swap?

I get tired of trying to decide what mug to use to drink out of every morning (does anyone else have to decide between the smiley face mug, master gardener mug, doggie mug, etc.?). My life is pretty boring, eh?

It could be a mug from your own collection or new I guess.

Thanks for swapping!

Zone In closed today, and I'm so proud we had 18 participants :)

The next swap I'm planning to host will be our Fall Houseplants/Tropicals swap. I'll post an interest thread for it in August. It'll still be blazing hot for most of us then, but we'll have two months to mail our plants. And our traditional "Neck Of The Woods" swap, back by popular demand, will start in October with the goal of all goodies arriving by Thanksgiving.

When you start a sock hop thread, Patti, I'm in :) Several pairs can easily be mailed in a bubble envy for very little postage.

I'm curious too, Susie. What did you have in mind for a Crazy Critter swap geared toward the 4th of July?

Great idea, Elfie. We could pack several miniature Hostas or other mini Perennials in a small Flat Rate Box for around $5 postage.

"Friendship" bowls have come in handy when I'm not sure where to plant or I want to keep a collection together. I have a couple of these for houseplants and this one is dedicated to the mini Hostas you sent me, Elfie, along with a couple of your turtles from the infamous "junk box swap" (LOL from the Peanut Gallery) The Wide Brim Hosta (I need to move) and the garden Gnome and knothole house came from Robin.

See how sweet Blue Mouse Ears looks today blooming :)

Go for it, Elfie, and I'll follow your lead.

Thanks for the compliments. I love my bowl gardens and think of each person who sent me a plant when I take care of them :) The bowls weren't expensive, $8 apiece at Lowe's the best I remember. They're shallow only about 8" tall, but are 16" or 18" diameter and can hold several plants.

You know I'd love nothing better than helping you any way I can, Patti! How about we work out the details in D-mails?

Night everyone. Have a good TGIF and I'll check in tomorrow evening if not sooner.

Crit, just google fairy or miniature gardens. Some are so easy and simple, others can be costly and complicated. All it takes is a bowl, or pan, for a container. Some even use a saucer for a large pot. You can make it larger scale if you want, like maybe around the base of a tree???

Crit, I made some for the moms for mothers day (maybe I shared this already) I used a 99 cent plastic oil pan from Wal-Mart. Cheaper than a pot saucer and big enough for stuff :)
Got little fences from Michaels and some rocks for stepping stones. Some bulk jewels and made a humming bird feeder and some "flowers". Also found some mini daffodils that I put in there.
I have since moved mine to the yard. Here is a (bad) pic of it

Hi everyone..I'm truly sorry that I've been so lax on this thread and not kept it up as I should. I'll try to do better!

It's with deep regret that I've decided to not do my 2nd windchime swap this month-with all the overtime that I'm working, I know that I couldn't do it justice. I feel like I'm letting Glen's memory down, which I know is silly..but this month is such an emotional one for me, cause his birthday would have been this month.

I'll make the February one next year a very special one to make up for missing this month..I've got some ideas swirling around in my head.

take care..

Yes, everyone made it easy this year...besides home made gifts it's snowmobile passes, e-readers and solar charger for kayak..lol. Make sure because of cost 1 large item bought every two weeks..because I was recreation co ordinator for over 20 years and had to organize events/programs 6 months prior it's a habit I find hard to stop..

Christmas is what I live for. Lol. Sooo if you asked me January 1st if I had started Christmas shopping I'd have to say 'yes'!

Right now I'm deep into pattern packets trying to find something fun and easy for our 4th Dave's Garden Christmas workshop..will feel better once that is underway.

Today is my son's 35th birthday..wow..and we just found out that he's being offered a promotion from Lowes (he's an area installatin manager right now, with 12 or so stores under him)..but it means he'll have to move the family to Philadelphia :(
Even though I knew this day would come, I'm not happy and it capped off a bad week- my good friend Doug's older brother passed away from cancer and Glen's little sister passed away very unexpectedly..she was younger than me! That brought back alot of not good memories of Glen's passing.. so as usual, I just stayed away from the computer and regrouped.

Enough of that.. I'm better and I didn't come on here to mope and groan :)

Hope everyone's doing well and hope to see alot of you in the swaps!!

Hugs :)

I am saddened to tell you my horse, Frisky, that I have been doctoring since Monday died yesterday afternoon. (She's the one I was working with when I ripped my finger open) She started bloating so I took her for a 20 minute walk. It didn't seem to help and started getting worse so called the vet and told him. I went to get her to take her in and she was already gone. He thought with her bloating that fast that she had twisted a gut with all the rolling she had been doing earlier in the week. RIP Frisky girl.

I am planning to do a Sock Hop Sock Swap after the first of the year. Kind during the let down after Christmas to bring everyone back up. What do you think? I'll put out some feelers and see if there is interest.

Thanks gals. sniff sniff

Yes LK, the finger is getting better. (Frisky is the one I was working with when the accident happened) Saw the doc last Wednesday. He had me close my eyes and brushed my finger with a little soft brush, and I was to tell him when I felt it. He said I was getting some feeling starting back and when he tapped on it I felt tingling all the way to the tip. He thinks when I go back to see him in 6 weeks that I should be getting a lot of the feeling back. PRAISE GOD!!! It is still a bit swollen and he gave me some exercises to do with hand putty.

Patti, I'm so sorry about Frisky..that just plain sucks :(

Thanks Miss Fruity.. sending hugs right back at you!

On a good note, I'm going to a local middle school tomorrow to watch a ribbon cutting ceremony for the reopening of their auditorium- my son Shawn will be one of the speakers as Lowe's donated $23,000 to help them remodel it :) Every year, they donate that amount to a local school to help them with whatever it is that they need. The school for this year (tomorrow is last year's recepient) will be announced soon.

I've been thinking about doing something different.. I wear pierced earrings and I have a bunch that I don't wear anymore. Costume jewelry, of course lol

I'm thinking of doing a round robin- get a list of ladies who have earrings that they don't wear.. the box will go on a predetermined route, one lady after another. Each can take her pick of earrings (one pair to however many) but she has to put in a pair for each pair that she takes out. Then she would send it to the next person on the list. We could use a flat rate box, which would keep the cost down. I would start the box off and then the box would end up with me when it has made the rounds and after I take out what I like, the rest would go to Goodwill or somewhere like that.

I'm not sure that I want to open an interest thread, though.. I'd like to keep it among people I know. It's just that I've seen round robins mysteriously disappear, you know?

I'd appreciate any thoughts you have about this- pro and con :)
thanks!

Chris, would you please change the sign-up date for this year's Christmas Swap to next Saturday, November 6th? The date has been bumped up in case participants need to handcraft one of their gifts.

There's still plenty of time and room for anybody lurking who hasn't already signed-up. As the old saying goes, the more the merrier!

OK gals... is this where you post an interest thread for a swap? I was thinking of a Sock, Sniff and Sip swap. Ideas for the sniff could be candles, scented wax, scented bath oils or soaps, etc. Sip could be coffee's, teas, hot chocolates, etc. Maybe sign up in January with the swap in February. What do you think? Would another month be better. Help! This will be the first one I host.
