"Invasive Animal Species in my Yard," contributed by Geoff Stein has nothing to do with "burning bushes" but does have the misfortune of being aligned immediately above an banner ad paid for by Stark Bro's who sells the burning bush. Perhaps the webmaster might want to remove the ad and advise Stark Bro's why. The link to the ad is below:

Interesting ... I don't have access to the way it appears on YOUR screen, and as a subscriber, I have the option of turning off ads altogether, an option which I assure you, I exercise! I did stick my zip code into Stark Bros little calculator and it told me it was prohibited from selling them in my area -- at least that's one good thing. I will point this out to the Administration.

Thank you for picking up on that little unintentional irony.

My name is Meg, & I work at Stark Bro's Nurseries & Orchards Co. ( I came across the article "Don't get burned by 'burning bush'" about a week ago, & because we do carry this bush, I took the info to our Chief Production Officer. I've been informed that this (Spring 2011) is our last season carrying the Burning Bushes. We will not have them as inventory later this year, instead investing in flowering plants that attract native bugs, butterflies & birds (such as hydrangeas).

However, since we are still carrying this bush through the end of spring, I did a double-check with Production to make sure our state restrictions were in order. The burning bush is currently restricted to MA & NH, both to whom we will not ship it. We also do not ship to Hawaii.

Thanks for allowing me to share that. : ) If you have any specific questions about this, or Stark Bro's in general, please feel free to send me an email at

Thanks, Meg, for your comments. Isn't it also restricted in CT? I'm sure our readers are happy to hear of your company's responsible attitude!
