I'll take a look at my Home Depot or Lowe's next time I go. But, I think my chances are alot lower of finding any Aeschynanthus here than Roly0217 . . . florida probably has alot more tropical-ish plants.

Roly0217 - did your Aeschynanthus come with a tag, or is it nameless?

No tag other than Foliage house plant. I was definetely looking for a cultivar name but couldn't find a tag that said anything with regards to the plant.

It looks like the one he has has plenty of calyces - the blooms will come out thru the middle of those . . . kinda makes it look like lipstick, which is why it is nicknamed the lipstick plant. According to Violet Barn, the blooms can vary from yellow to orange to red.

Just a reminder:

The first person to cross off ALL the plants they have chosen should post BINGO in this thread. If more than 1 person posts Bingo, the one with the earliest posted time will be the first winner. Once carpanthiangirl verifies the Bingo, the winner will choose a number (1-3) and will then receive the corresponding prize directly from the donor.

(no, there is no order, rhyme, or reason in placing the numbers with the prizes. So even though the Rob's Violet Barn certificate is at the top of the list, does not mean that it will be choice 1.)

Once a prize is chosen, I will mark it off on this post . . . and repost after each Bingo prize is picked. Of course, once the 2nd prize is picked, it will be easy for the 3rd person to pick their prize . . . ^_^

Prizes offered:

1 - $50.00 certificate for Rob's Violet Barn
1 - "Surprise" package - supplies and/or plant material
1 - choice of plants or $20.00

Bingo!!!!! Hahahaha...not really! ^_^
I did however win the loser prize in the last game, and just received a box from Nicole. Inside was a very handy starter kit, with little cups, with pre-drilled holes, a wicking container, ample amounts of perlite and potting mix, fertilizer, and...leaves!
And the leaves survived over a week in the mail w/o a heat pack! It is still winter here, and the package got mis-directed by the PO. Nicole sent me leaves of Jolly Moonflower, Jolly Champ, and stolons of episcia My Black Beauty. (Rob's Inner Orbit didn't make it) I love the Jolly's too! Thank you for everything Nicole!

I can't think of one rule you'd be breaking by asking a question, Olaf . . . let's see if I can't explain it a bit . . .

Whenever it gets close to being time for a Bingo game (and you'll feel the bingo tension!), the "caller" will make a list of 75 plants. Each player will choose 25 of those plants to be their "bingo" card (25 spaces on a bingo card, get it?) . . . the players will submit their cards to the "card holder" (which is a separate person from the caller - keeps things separate, and no chance of "favoritism" calls). Prizes are donated by the players, and sometimes those not playing (for whatever reason). Once the "Bingo's" start, the players "choose" a prize by picking a number (I have an ingenious system for attaching a donated prize to a number). Once all the prizes are spoken for, the game is over until next time. Sometimes there is a "biggest loser" prize . . . for the last person in the whole game to get their plants marked off . . .

Jamie as much as I would love to send you a division of one of my plants I really don't have much to share. I lost about 1/2 of my collection due to Fusarium plus sunburnt when my avocado tree was cut down. What's left is recovering from the burns and putting new growths. I'll keep you in mind for next spring when I do repot again. Not having so many orchids is what gave me the chance to get into AVs.

I don't have any terrestrials but I do grow them all outdoors. My orchids are lithopythes or epiphytes meaning that they grow either in rocks or on trees were they get lots of air circulation. They do not like regular potting soil.
