Another mosaic still in progress. I got this snail on sale at Walmart. I sealed it with water and Weldbond glue. Gave a good three coats. Once I finish glueing on the glass pieces and grout it, I will seal the grout a few times. This is going to be part of a birhday present for a friend of mine. I think the snail is so very cute.

Thank you both! I'm still learning about the different materials to mosaic on and what's porous and not porous and sealants and glues! I have a birdbath I started - used large glass tiles, similar to what you would see in a tile shop. I bought the proper waterproof grout but I'm apprehensive ... I should just do it! I used one of those XXL terra cotta planter saucers. (Sealed it first very carefully since terra cotta is very porous). I have so many unfinished projects!

Where do you get the tiny mosaic pre-cut tile?

The snail is just adorable. I would love to know where you got the tiny mosaic tiles too. I'm new to this so please be patient with me!
And info on sealing. I (sort of) started a small concrete bird bath but haven't sealed it. Do I need to do that before gluing glass on it?

Thanks.

Hi Lainimoo! Do you have an updated picture of your snail from last year? After it was grouted? How did you seal it? I hope you do have a picture. I thought it was especially cute.

You have done a beautiful job of placing the tesserae - the snail is really lovely! Your friend should be very pleased with it.

Hi Lainimoo,

That is ADORABLE! It's the only snail I would allow in my garden. :)
