This is a great piece of "old timey" wisdom! I am the (lucky?) owner of a tremendous poke plant that I've been cutting down several times each summer for many years. I'm thinking that root much have gotten HUGE by now. As to the dye, bet Aunt Bett boiled those sacks in a big old iron pot in the yard with the poke berries to get the color to set!

Hi Judy,
You are right about the big old iron pot in the back yard. It was used for lots of other things too.

Doubt that you could get to the bottom of that root even if you tried. It sure is a pretty plant, though.

Best to you, thanks so much for your note.
Sharon
