Then we open it up, it was wired on, to revel the treasures within. Yummy Godiva Chocolates, Easter egg chocolates, Jellybeans shape like carrots and two little bendy bunnies for plant. A wonderous treasure trove. I can feel the inches right now , just looking at them.

Thank you Dear Fruity. ((((hugs))))))

You are so welcome, Char! Don't cha go eating all those chocolates at once :)

Well now you all know the "twist" I mentioned were just baggie ties to secure the wreath on on top of of the coir basket and twisted Easter ribbon around the top of it. Does the basket planter count as a twist...lol

I'm anxious to know if carrots were one of the secret items?

Thanks ya'll :) It was a really fun project. I found the wreath at the grocery store, of all places. They have a wide seasonal aisle, always have to cruise down it. That same day I stopped next at Lowe's for seed starter mix, saw the stack of coir baskets and a light bulb went off! OMG I said out loud...lol and asked the clerk if I could see if the egg wreath would fit on top. She knows I'm half nuts anyway. The rest was easy filling with candy. Char, I should have sent you something to plant..ack! Did you dig in the grass and find a little pen and egg note pad?

Some projects are easy for me to plunge right into, others I dilly-dally at --- and here I thought that was a Southern expression -- and others that need thinking about I just piddle at and hem & haw about what to do, like the naked bowling balls that need to be covered in mosaics. And none of the bike helmets have told me yet what kind of critters they want to be.

If you have a fridge at work, happ, tell those silly girls the glass can always be 1/2 full.

Yikes, just heard thunder boomers and saw a streak of lightning...see ya'll later.

Sorry I have been absent again! We are hosting the Cardigan Corgi National Herding Championship at teh farm this weekend and today was the first day and I was the first judge. So I spent the last couple days really working to make the farm look extra special. Only today we had 25 MPH winds and 88 degree weather!!! Everyone is covered in dust and sweat. But it went well and I only have two more days before peace and quiet reigns again.

BTW, carrot jelly beans are not the secret item. Or carrot shaped jelly beans, or carrot flavored jelly beans, or jelly beans in particular. Sorry. But your basket was very creative.

Yes, she is one of my older Sebastopols. And Char, she is a goose just has very curly feathers. Ahhhhh, see I missed the part about Reeses pieces. But still, no prize.
And no Fruity, I don't judge Corgis in the way I think you mean, I judge them herding sheep and ducks, not conformation. I am just now sitting at the computer for the first time today, it is after 10 and I have been up since 5:30! But it is working fine, lots of folks here and tomorrow we also will do a herding instinct test for dogs that have never been on stock. Wish it were cooler and we had less dry wind,

Sad to say but I didn't pass it onto my children. I was a great
believer in keeping your kids busy & keeping them out of trouble.
Didn't give them any time at all for dilly-dallying.

Well I have spent days just hemming & hawing over little decision
concerning my "basket". Everything is set to go - I just can't find a
box to fit it yet ! So frustrating. I might have to destroy a bigger box
and use every bit of tape in the house to get it the right size.

Just read your article on using botanical names.
Aside from being so very well written it was really
interesting and makes such a valid case for using
the Latin.
I've been using the Latin to keep records but a bit
haphazard when I've been sending out that info
during my trades. I'll really pay more attention now.
Thanks for a wonderful article.

Cris,

I think that was probably Critterologist that wrote the article you read, it wasn't me. I actually campaign the other way because I might as well be reading Latin on the botanical names (pun intended) because I don't know what they are and it is a foreign language to me. I like using the 'known by' names. ^_^

A few Latin names roll off my tongue easily, but the majority of them are difficult to even begin to pronounce, much less spell correctly. I give up and usually go by "commonly referred to" names too in general conversation. Although my plant markers are the real deal, unless my kitties dig them up and leave them at the backdoor as trophies...lol. And if I don't know what a plant is, somebody here is bound to be able to ID it...one of the many beauties of DG.

So whose Easter Basket is headed my way? Oooh, never mind, will have to wait til the Bunny hops my way to find out...lol

How's the whirlwind tour going, Carey?

Ok, gonna list all the great stuff I got. Had to go to the po and mail my box to my buddy, felt bad after I got mine and was so excited. Been using my laptop at work until I get a new one so I hadn't set it back up at home and DH needed his...rofl.

Chocolate mousse peeps no less, like a say a real problem with life expectancy tho...very short lived.

Got so excited talking about chocolate peeps I hit send...ok now for the list of great things I got:
1. Beautiful silver wire basket with colored beads woven in it...look really close cause it is really pretty.
2. purple grass for my basket
3. the cutest little fur rabbit
4. Lindt milk chocolate bunny in a gold wrapper, I have hidden him from other humans in this house
5. a dozen of the prettiest eggs that have a hanger and small crystals all over them for bling
6. a bunch of the sweetest eggs that are hand painted with flowers, I will take a better pic of them they are so cute, lilies of valley, daisy, so cute.
7. container of candy corn My Mom use to buy those for us and then end up eating them all...rofl.
8. a container shaped like a carrot, with gum inside but the top of the carrot has a bunny head coming out that wobbles back and forth.
9. package of carrot seeds for my rabbit
10. package of bib lettuce seeds for my dh
11. package of grand rapids tipburn resistant lettuce for me
12. choclate mouse peeps
13. the cutest china bunny setting in a china egg, it is really cute. Need to take a better picture of it.

So my basket was perfect.

I'm with you, Patti, and haven't seen those before either.

My basket came today from you, Cris, and was packed to the rim with all sorts of sweet treats…..

Bunny, Chicks & Eggs candies, jellybeans, shortbread cookies (did you bake these?), Tulips and a Pot candies, malted eggs (these will have a short life), Reese’s Pieces “Carrot” (gone thanks to hubby), and 3 bars of luscious Dark Chocolate.

A planter was nesting inside a beautiful purple & white paper Tulip Basket tied with an Easter fabric ribbon that matches the table runner and cozy cover Cris sewed for me. Very special receiving a hand made gift since I can't sew :)

Stay tuned for a close up of the wooden garden signs. Got a huge chuckle out of them and bet ya'll will too.

OK, I am here!!!! Everyone calm down, just had to drive out to my mom's house and spent the entire day going through stuff and deciding what needed to be tossed and what needed to be kept. We went through over 200 boxes of things and probably only saved 25 or 30. Not my idea of a fun day. But we got it done and next week they will be installing carpet and tile. HOOORAY!!!!!

Nope, no secret ingredients yet!!! Although chocolate peeps could be used for a bribe!!!!! I will have to scour the stores looking for those. And I am always a goner for cute furry bunnies.

Susan,

Yes I made the shortbread-type cookies as well. Glad you like them.

Saw your comment awhile back that you liked dark chocolate which is
why I rather skimped on the other types of goodies. My DH gave me the
candy melter at Christmas so I finally had the chance to put it to good
use & thought the tulips were cheerful although not quite screaming
Easter.

You mentioned only finding one odd thing in the basket? Whew!
Please check the basket again tho, I fold laundry on the dining room

Love all the tuff in the box fruity and the plant tag thingys I have never seen before, those are cute, funny how that chocolate candy just disappears.
Wow no secret item yet...hummmmm
Well my bunny is hopping on his way to a good home, I know that. Had a problem tho, because of the size of the box I couldn't send priority or it was gonna be $38.00 and as much as I love my swap buddy that was wayyyyy to much money. So instead of flying my bunny is going on a mini vacation, I figure on the bus, going the scenic tour. There wasn't a way to shorten the box or I would have had to cut the thing in half and that sure wouldn't of worked so well. So fingers are crossed hoping hoppy gets there in one piece, the sweetie at the post office said 5 to 7 days...ughhh!

Everything has gone up, now I sound like my parents...well I can remember the day when I use to buy a new car every few years and they changed alot every year, now they have all these computers and robots and the body styles never change.

I was afraid if I didn't get my basket posted she might lose out on the surprise, so it arrived on Friday but DH didn't tell me until Saturday, but as soon as I found out I got it posted in case she might win. Oh yeah that cute little gold foil chocolate rabbit, I can't find him anywhere...wonder where he made off to...rofl.

I don't know how this happened but last week I thought I posted with a picture about receivng my basket, and I just found out it never got posted. So I do apologize to Susie for this delay. (guess next time i 'll dbl check the thread and make sure it made it through cyber space)!
Okay, here we go. Last week I received a call from Susie, telling me she needed help on a project. This seemed reasonable, because we are always doing things back and forth for each other.
So imagine my surprise, when I was in my driveway, gathering supplies, and I turn around and there is Easter Bunny Susie standing there looking at me with a HUGE beautiful basket, filled with all sorts of goodies. She really got me this time!! In the basket There was a Mr and Mrs Bunny, decorations, 3 succulent plants, (my favorites), a chocolate bunny, malted chocolate eggs, werthers candies, two large eggs on the side with LiIly bulbs in the, plastic eggs, filled with cadbury eggs, goodies, and SEEDS!!!!!!!!!!! This was the best basket ever. I loved, loved it!!!!
Thankyou Susie, you know me so well.
(and again I apologize this didn't go through the first time!!
ALSO, MY PARTNERS BASKET, was sent out via the Bunny Express first thing this past Sat. morning.April 16.

I started out this morning fo;r the Dr. office and the PO man stopped me at the end of the driveway, Couldn't figure out what he was doing there this early. 8:00. He was sorting the mail this morning and came across a box that had my name on it and it was opened, so he taped it up and brought it straight to me. He didn't know if it had plants in it or not and wanted to make sure everything was ok. I thanked him and went on my way. I finally got to open the box a few minutes ago,let me tell you the box was banged up and I crossed my fingers, It was full. The first thing I saw was Cat treats and Dog treats. That just made me laugh, my animals get as much attention as I do. next it was a build your own birdhouse package and the sweetest Bunny Basket I've ever seen. The basket was crammed full of hanging eggs, chocolate cross, dark chocolated peep, Reeses choco eggs, 2 plant markers and tags, butterfly headband. beautiful different colored paper grass. Carey this was fantastic as is, but she included one more thing that was the bestest thing a dragonfly windchime. I don't know how she knew it but all of these are some of my favorite things.

When I build that birdhouse, that will give 134 houses. The chimes are going up on the front porch of my new house along with those from the chime swap. Carey this was a very blessed thing for me today. The move was getting me down, not being around my DGD as much was really getting to me and this wonderful box arrived just in time to make me realize I have a wonderful family here on DG, Thank you sweetie from the whole of my heart this has truly been the best Easter I can remember in a long time.

Well, my mailman just knocked ont he door, and handed me this huge box! Look what was inside!
Well, let me backtrack, When he handed me the box I heard broken glass, and thought for sure something was broken, but when I got it all unpacked, all was good!

First I pulled out his huge watering can, and I love it! Looks like Happ/Joyce painted it herself? It is so pretty. Then I looked some more, and the can was stuffed with things. All kinds of yummy candies, and some are already sampled! Love those caramel eggs! The reeces pieces will be good therapy for my broken finger... And the cute little bunny pot hanger. Oh, and the beautiful towel with Easter eggs all over it. And the cutest little penguin vase! it is so pretty...
Thanks so much! I love it all... But there is one more picture, so hold on!

Thanks again Joyce. I love it!

Oh, in case you can't see the candy bar in the first picture it is a russell stover note 1,000,000,000 bar, that say's in bunnies we trust!
Please excuse the mess on the counter, I just wanted to take this picture quickly!

I'm so sorry to be so late in getting my picture posted - my younger brother had a really bad stroke at the end of last week. I've been MIA due to helping with his daughter and wife and staying at the hospital for news. My niece turned 10 the day after he went into the hospital and I've been keeping her with me so my SIL can visit as much as she can.

I received a wonderful box from Robyn and I was so touched when I opened it - she spoiled me terribly.

The first picture (she spoiled me so much there are multiple pictures!) is of a beautiful watering can. There are daisies that go all around the can but I took the picture so you could see how the spout has a daisy on it as well. I really, really like this, Robyn...daisies and watering cans - right up my alley. This is just so pretty. There is the cutest bunny plant stake that I just realized you can't see in the picture - :( - I was so focused on showing the spout that I forgot the stake. There are also some nice garden gloves and bunny note cards.

The next one is of a super adorable wall hanging that I'm putting on my front door, bunny-ear headbands - lol, a nice Easter card, and an egg. I thought the egg was just decoration but my niece opened it up and found coleus seeds! Leave it to a ten-year-old to search for every last thing in a plastic egg :)

I bought a couple of the "bird" vases and we put spring flowers in them at work. Some think they are ducks, one thought it was a rabbit (with a beek? now you know what my days are like...rofl), and another thought it a cold penquin because it was pink... ;)

Glad you liked everything, Susie. The other sedum is Xenox - you'll really like it after the first year. It tends to stay small and the second year it just takes off; it has the prettiest color. I ended up with some of the tri-color myself to try. I knew Daddy would like the lemon cookies and I knew for sure you would like the chocolate!

Char, I use paper towel tubes to pack things and I've never had a pot/planter/fragile item break when using them. I have DH and the kids trained to put them in a milk crate when they put a new roll in the holder :). They're so easy to use - just cut, stuff around, put in-between things..whatever. They act as a great cushion and filler in boxes.

I Use them to hold loose cords , so they are not dangling . & when we were younger my mother used to fill them with candies & wrap them with the Holliday Paper weather it be Xmas , or easter , valentines , or stuff a toy in them , or socks or panties :) HEHE for real . I have also packed some plants into them to ship.

but they really work well for packing Breakables there was not even a chip in this planter I absolutly love it .

LINDA I cannot seem to get on the JS facebook i thought i had it but them it just went out into space .
will try again later.

wishing you all a great weekend & a Special Easter with your families.

An adorable picture frame which is very timely for the new addition
to our family.
A lovely hand-made egg, the sweetest little bunny bell, a tulip
decoration and an easter basket with a butterfly. This was very
cleverly made. I do appreciate home-made items and all the time
that has gone into their preparation.

Last but not least is a folding organizer. I actually saw this
on a post a year or so back - downloaded the picture &
swore I'd make one for myself. So I'm delighted that one
was made for me :)
There are clips for holding seeds and the largest clip
I'm going to use for at least one pair of gloves which I keep
loosing.
Again thank you for taking the time Birdie - very much

This is so great to watch all y'all's neat boxes of stuff. Ready???? Lights flashing!!!!!! Bells ringing!!!!!! Sirens whooping!!!!!!!!!! We have a winner!!!!!!!!

Miss Di sent the winning special item, you will all groan, a live plant! So unless I am mistaken, and I am blonde, she wins one of the prizes for this swap.

I am going to have to download all the pictures and put them up on my screen side by side to even hope to judge this. I assure you that I will have a panel of independent (male) judges who will attempt to offer intelligent input as to the greatness of the baskets. LOL

Joy and bunny basket swappers I have to say I omitted one of
Birdie's items and came on specifically to correct it.
Its a LIVE plant - lettuce to be exact. When I was staging the
pictures yesterday it got tucked behind the picture frame and
remembered it as I passed by the table on my way to bed.

My sincere apologies to Birdie.

inundated with seeds - you can take them to their local food bank.

Yes, Birdie sent a real lettuce plant. Wouldn't want her to lose

YES ... it's HERE!!!!!!!! Sorry I didn't get posted sooner. The mailman put it on the front porch, as we were out riding. Then we came home to a horse disaster and by the time we got all of that taken care of, changed clothes and went to eat for our anniversary. I just happened to check the front porch (which I have been doing every day ^_^) and there it was!!!!! It literally popped open when I cut the tape. I just love everything. Even something from Goober. :-) She sent me egg colored chalk that my DGD's and I can draw on the driveway with!!!! And an egg coloring kit that vibrantes (sp?). First I thought it said vibrates... lol but it means bold colors I believe. The cutest little bunny fold-a-pillow. My DGD's have big ones they use on their beds. A soft cushy duck that quacks and tells you Happy Easter (drove Bowzer bonkers!) Chocolate bunny, plastic eggs with jelly beans and star burst in them. A 'stick' of candy shapes, a cultivator and shovel...I think they are fiberglass... just TOO many things to mention. It is all so GREAT!!! She had painted me a basket but it got broken in the attempts to pack it. :-( Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, and she is a winner too... she had a lily bulb in the box. Monte Negro. Thank you sooOooOooOOooO much Elfie and Goober. How funny we had each others names!

They are exquisite! And, carrot seeds and a lily bulb. Of course, who can live without a rubber ducky. And bunny plant ties. And cadbury eggs. And bright colored note pads and markers to keep track of stuff (kick me to be sure I DO IT) and ... woohoo. I posted a bunch of it earlier. I love the duck that quacks and says Happy Easter, and the pillow pet pink bunny. Thank you again Elfie. I'm sorry the basket you made broke. It sounds great.

They are right in front! Be sure to check them out.

I really thought we were not going to be able to have a consensus, the baskets were so awesome. Every single one had fabulous stuff and showed thoughtfulness and creativity. Ultimately we have decided on one basket. And that one is...

do y'all really want to know??????

Taters55's basket to Happgarden wins by a whisker. Wow was it ever hard to judge these baskets! They are all simply wonderful.

Love the rainbow Susie! Very pretty.

I got up to 103 today, which met our high for the day! They also said on the weather channel, that we have hit the longest drought dry season, in 105 years! It is 9:30 at tnight, and it is still 88 degrees!

Wow LK, that is not a good record to have. We finally got some rain. Have had about 2.75" here since Sunday. But east of us had up to 13". I wouldn't want that much!!! Hope you get some soon!

I'd love to share some of the rain we've got. We're at 12" and expecting more over the next four to five days. I've had enough of the stuff. All kinds of storms and flooding all over the midwest. I've been trying to blow it to TX and OK but moma nature keeps pushing harder for here.

Linda Kay, that is hard to imagine over 100 since we are still in the 40's at night here and seems like it rains everyday and cloudy even when it isn't raining, have to admit I will keep our weather, at least the hostas are sooooo happy..rofl...Robyn hope you aren't near all that flooding, heavens! Or the tornados!

Beautiful flowers DJ...

Congrats to you too, Patti!

Great choice for your prize, LK. Daylily "Slap Me Silly" is one I don't have and know you're gonna love it.

Another fun swap -- Thank you, Susie -- and I think the neatest part is everyone received their baskets by Easter.

BTW Cris, the cookies and candies are gone, thanks to hubby's sweet tooth. But I'm saving the dark chocolate and have only had a nibble or two.
