Thanks! Sorry I over posted with you, but just had to comment on that adorable little girl! She is getting so big, and has always been cute! Wonder how hard it would be for me to talk DD into having a girl, lol!
She loves to sing and dance. This little toy plays music.
Thanks for all the sweet compliments. She is my little angel.
I got a Daylily or Iris last year named Kayla , gotta look and see if it is doing anything yet. Hmmmmm, I had forgot about that.
I opened the greenhouse today and brought some stuff out. Some didn't make it but lots was good. My stictocardia vine bit the dust but the red magnolia vine is green. YIPPIE!
This is a white mini brug in bloom. My blue one died , pouting now!
Hello I hope you all are doing ok and survived all the bad weather..I wanted to check in quickly before heading off to bed.. Ive been up since 3am and my body is refusing to stay up much longer.. Love the flowers everyone. My irises are in full bloom and hopefully I will make it back int he next day or two to share them with you all.. I made these pictures the morning of the storm.. Hope you enjoy them..
My bog iris were doing really well and growing. I thought they might even bloom in the house. Then when we got back from our weekend, they were all bent over and look horrible. I don't know if they didn't like the coffee, or the peroxide, or... if the dog got bored when we were gone and played with them!
Huney, How beautiful! Love those yellows!!!
The sky is awesome colored! WOW! So glad you are ok and didn't get the damage so many did. Lots are still out of power and homes. Good to see you post. Take care.
Crit, YIKES! Poor baby. Maybe it will perk up for you now that you are back.
Good night all. I'm wore out too.
Good morning everyone! Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Gonna be in the mid 80's today and sunny so that means I'm mostly stuck inside from noon on till late evening. Can't breathe when it is so hot outside.
Gorsh, has anyone talked to Arejay lately? I haven't heard from her. Hope she not stranded at the cabin with them mooses. We won't never see her again.
AREJAY AREJAY !!!!!! WHERE ARE YOU AREJAY !!!!!!
Need us to call Charley to come get you girl??????? YoooooHoooooooooooooo???!!!!???
OK everyone, these storms are about to kick in again widespread across the US so batton down the hatch and hold on to your dresser drawers. Looks like it is gonna be bad in some areas. Here, I think we will be ok. Just lots of heavy rain for us but already giving tornado warnings all around in other states close by. Jest sayin...
YIPPIE!!!! It all went around us today and was really nice here. Al and everyone up north of me, I found out where Spring is...
Stolen from a friend's FB page; had me in stitches...just had to spread it around!

Mistletoe and Holly wasn't too fond of the snow... We all glad it is warmer now.
I am going to thin them out as soon as they finish blooming so I can tag some to know what they are and gonna send you a few more different ones, Al. I pulled yours from the edges and you only got maybe 3-4 colors but I have lots of pretty colors when they open for me to see where they are. I still got light powder blue and light pink and bright clemson orange and Black game cock, and black after the storm, and a big yellow, yet to bloom. Plus all that Mitt sent me but those are not moving yet as they haven't multiplied yet.
Thank you everyone for the compliments, I love my Irises! THEN the Daylilies!!! Drooling now!
My oregon grape.
we have had rain two days and been cold today. i like warm weather.weather liars say its going to be warm today hope they got it wright. if not im slright with that have to re pot a plant on the porch the cat just had to check it out. shek knocked it off and broke the pot that is the second one this spring. a nice heavy pot gone ive got to watch her a little closer.. see if i can break her from proweling and being so nosy. love and hugs nettie.
I would pot it now and keep it damp and warm. Does it have roots yet? OR is the arm you were talking about a root? I would think the arm is the leaf or limb coming out. IF you have roots plant it if NOT just leave it in water a while longer. It will be ok in water for a good while yet so don't worry about it. Just keep it warm.
ive been off for a while to much wind thunder and lighting . have two little scardy cat dogs to watch over they are a mess got to get real close to moma if you know what i mean. glad that is over. always turn puter off when a storm is that close. hate that wind. dogs go crazy i have to hold them real close.love and hugs nettie . mekos i think i will wait a week or so before i pot the little log up it has roots and one little limb up closer to the top. hope you all have a good day today. ive got to go get a new celing fan for the kitchen need one with a good light in it.
Hope everyone has a blessed Easter! It's a lovely day out and I have weeds calling my name - lol. Oh, I noticed today a bud on one of my potted Brugs! I'm surprised I kept them alive yet alone have a bud;o) They are in 15 gal pots. It's either a NOID I got from Seray last year or it may be the Isabella I got from Mechelle. WIll have to dig in the pot and see if it has a tag. How long before it blooms mekos once that bud appears? I'm excited I may actually get a Brug to bloom! Unfortunately they will probably stay in pots. I don't have the patience to baby them through the summer heat and the winter cold...
Well if the bud has just started it will be a few more weeks. They grow slow when you want to see color. Go figure. Give it plenty of brug feed now and plenty of water and it will just set the most buds and be beautiful. Can't wait to see it. Mine are putting out but I did not dig them or bring inside for winter, they stay out and are slow starting out again. But I see green coming out so maybe not too much longer.
Weeks? Ugh! LOL! I've been feeding and watering so will keep it up. I have 3 that started from itty bitty cuttings. had a lot of cuttings at one time but these are the three survivors. I'll keep ya posted.
I have my brug starts in 32 oz styrofoam cups. When I put them into a pot, how large (or small) should I start them out in? I have 21 that actually survived!!!! Lost about 5.
I have just been watering with 1/2 strength Miracle Grow until I pot them up. Is there something else that you use?
it has been a sad day not a bad day i have them ever so often. just a self pity day i will be fine in the morning. plaining on some yard work.playing in the dirt is good for a person. al you hurry back you will be missed love and hugs to all and good night. nettie
Happy Easter everyone! Time to get some much needed yardwork done today. My yard looks like a jungle! Working in the yard and barbecue with the family. Hope everyone has a great day and God Bless you all on This special day :-)
I have 2 of my good roses about to bloom. The ones that were here had buds on them when I looked. Have a wild one I am going to pull out and put a good one in there. It is right along the sidewalk. Another one that was here is blooming pretty.
rrm i think you arre wrwright about the color of that dress, it has butterflies all over the top and down one side of it. her dad is my youngest child spent the first month of his life in the local hospital weighed a little over 3 lb. three months early i think he has grown out of it i thought he never would love nettie hope all of you have a good night.
crit that is a house they went to to eat after the dance that is not billy and nottas home.that house is very large glad i don,t have to clean it it is beautiful but not for me. youngest gd is good friends with the little girl who lives in the house. she loves to go out and spend the night with her. nettie sorry about that
we have had more than enough rain i can,t stand another day in this house with my golf playing dh. he has a bad case of cabin fever.i don,t know what to tell him. i can,t stand it myself just have to put up with the weather not much anyone can do about it. hope you all are haveing good weather. love nettie
Such a tragic thing. Sure hope the babies are able to survive. I know both parents work together in careing for the babies so maybe the father will do overtime and it will be ok. Poor things.
Beautiful Iris Charleen. I really loved the yellow with reddish fuz inside I saw earlier. That was awesome!
It's a shame when such a beautiful bird is taken out by an airplane. Unfortunately bird collisions are quite common and very dangerous for both the bird and the airplane, and not much can be done to prevent it. A couple of years ago a New York passenger flight was taken down after hitting a flock of Canada geese and made a dramatic splashdown landing in the Hudson river. Luckily everybody survived but the goose.
Birds are always a problem, though. I have had personal encounters with crows, pigeons, seagulls, geese, and even a wild turkey once. Not to mention a host of smaller birds in flocks. Any pilot will try to avoid them as best they can, but that's not always possible. Kind of like trying to avoid deer on the highway.
Oh, Yes. My brother was a truck driver, he told me don't try to dodge them (the deer): Just keep on going. Stop after it is hit of coarse but sometimes if you try to miss them you really have a wreck...
crit have you had enough rain i hope so we can,t stand much more river is out all in the river bottoms and they have closed the flood gates on blue mountain lake that only means more water for us can only get out one way to get out of here now. we had 2 bad storms today they say we may get more tomorrow hope they are wrong.
I was very sad to hear that they confirmed that it was the female from the Norfolk nest that was killed, hunting for her babies. That was the 1st ever Eagle Cam I ever watched. This year I have been mostly following the one in Decorah, Iowa but check in on the Norfolk ones occasionally. Very sad. I hope the Dad is able to finish raising them but I guess it's wait and see right now.
nettie ... we have had about 2.75" here at my house since Sunday which is a perfect rain in my book. Had time to soak in and really do something beneficial. East of us around Muskogee had upwards of 13" and that came your way. Where exactly are you? I know you have mentioned Ft. Smith in some posts.
I was glad with my procrastination of getting my plants taken outside last weekend. We had pea to marbel size hail yesterday evening that covered the ground so much it looked like snow!!!!! It would of beaten them all to death. I stand by my rule here not to put anything out until May 1st. You just can't trust our weather. Although the nice rain we have been having would of been good for them, it would of been for naught after that hail!!!!
i did a post half an hour ago but my net poped off and shut down it has been doing that alot. and i get tirde of turning it back on im going to call magtell in the morning and see if they know what the problem is the water probly fiber optic runs under the river and the river is rolling right along if its not one thing its another. love nettie,
Really bad storms coming through tonight. Tornados wiped out Tuscaloosa Alabama , killed many, and another went through Birmingham on the ground not sure on damages there yet, but is bad.In Ga, now and NC now and one headed for us in a few minutes should be here. They said it was coming 60MPH and the wind has just started gusting bad. It supposed to be here around 1:20 am, and we are under a watch till around 5:00 am . Some places got hit bad already and more coming. Be safe everyone. Take cover and pray. Sure don't look good at all.
mekos! Hope you check in soon to let us know you are ok. Prayers sent up for all our friends to the east that they did not suffer from any of the traumatic weather I saw on the news. Prayers out for the families of those that lost their lives and the ones that lost their homes. Everyone out that way needs to check in to let us know that you are all OK. So worried, it was awful! Saw some of the video from over that way on the news. What an ominous looking tornado that went through Alabama. Been in one, but wasn't that massive. Don't want to be in another!!!!
That's why I've been out for the last 5 days. Since I'm a retired design engineer with NYSDOT, I get called for bridge watch duty during storms. Our team has 153 bridges in 3 counties to watch for damage and flood control. It's a lot of work, and a lot of travel time. So far we haven't made out too bad for damage, but some of our bridges are nearing flood stage. Creeks and valley streams are really high right now. I'll probably be out for another week or so.
You be careful Al. I'm safe still looking for Charleen though. Haven't heard from her this morning. Around 200 dead or missing from Alabama and lots injured and homeless and no power. So bad there. My heart breaks for them. We had funnel clouds but we are ok here.
Hope everyone else is safe. May God bring sunshine and joy to all on this day!
She called me back a little while ago. She is ok but no power. Her cell phone battery went dead. No damage but some in her town and some were killed in her town. She is ok and no damage except for power went off yesterday and still off.
No, I got it a couple years ago. I get stuff misnamed all the time. People want something and have something not blooming and call it whatever to either sell it or trade for what they want. I may have got it on E-bay. Got stuff there with wrong names too. Not a problem, I like the color.
But IF I had got it from you was you gonna give me a replacement plant???? (IN that case I mighta did.) Hehehehe
Yay Jan - I'm glad your Duranta is blooming!! I lost mine but will get another this fall. They are so pretty when they fill out.
I just found out on a couple of other threads that I follow that our Tubby passed away this morning with his dear wife Shirley at his side. The "old timers" will remember Tubby well. Rest in peace dear friend. ♥ ♥ ♥
OH Kelly, I am so sorry. He was a sweetheart. I really enjoyed talking to him. I know he will be missed and pray for his family to be comforted. Thanks for letting us know.
What you mean you lost yours? I thought yours was a big bush. It don't get cold where you are what happened to it? Was Lucy on the prowl again?
My white lochroma plant. (might mispelled that).
We had an unusually cold winter and of course after I had planted it in the ground - it never came back:o( I tried to blame it on Lucy but really it was the freak cold. Had it still been potted I could have brought it onto the south patio with the Brugs and other sensitive potted stuff...
Sending prayers for Shirley and all of Tubby's family. Thanks for letting us know. He fought a tough, long battle, and I'm glad he is now at peace with the Lord and in a better place. RIP dear Tubby. Sending prayers to all my friends to be safe from all the tornadoes, and bad weather. Please be careful and let us know how you all are doing when you can. Snowing here again, but that is so much better than the weather some of you are having.
Sorry to hear of Tubbys passing..Glad to see you guys survived the storms..Heres a link to some of my irises. I dont have them all labeled yet but will get it done one day soon I hope.. Im off to haul some dirt(maybe mud)if its dry enough..
I'm Back all my Friends. Was talking to Jan this Evening 3:15 and Thank God and Southern Rivers the lights and Electricity are back on. Want to Thank everyone for the prayers, love and phone calls. I love you all and hope you all are o.k. and Great. God Bless you all. Love you all!!!! Hugs and nuzzles, Charley is o.k. too. Sends you lots of nuzzles...
Sorta ok - good enough anyway.
So here I am, and I've been missing you too! I will have to tell you later about my whirlwind of a life!
Nettie - are you still here? Here I am - still not in jail...but none the smarter either.
Guess what I've done now...I posted on freecycle for irises, told folks I would come over and rework their iris beds if I could have the extra loot.
So, this lady gives me her phone number - her husband passed 15 years ago and LOVED irises. I am going over there tomorrow to start to work...I can't imagine how many irises were lost due to neglect, climate changes or whatever, they are gone now. But I get to have starts of everything that is left; at one time they were show quality flowers. I am excited and kicking myself in the rear at the same time!!
thank goodness we all made it back, now if i just had some hip boots id do some work in the garden. dh came and killed a copperhead foe me yester day the thing was trying to bite my fake i like to fenish the cleaning before this late into spring i don,t do snakes, of any kind. nettie
Here is a pretty picture for y'all... the most beautifully colored Glad I think I have ever seen;o) Did any of you ever trade with makshi (Dianne)? We had a trade in process when she passed away last year. Her son Andy contacted me and asked if he could send me a bunch of his Mom's bulbs. This was one of them and it is even more special because of the circumstances under which I acquired it. If I ever do a memorial garden it will get moved there in honor of Dianne.
That IS gorgeous! Mine have not started blooming yet. Still early for them here. Did have this to open today with a few more.
I'm tired gonna turn in but Nettie, you watch out for them snakes. I ain't fond of them things either!
OMG nettie. Glad you had the rake and weren't using your hands. I hate those creepy critters too. Just isn't natural to be able to move across the ground and up trees, etc., without arms or legs. YUCK!!!!
Nettie, I think you need more than hip boots! I swear I ain't out stealin irises - I am reformed...I don't stalk peoples gardens at night anymore, scared of the police, I think they read my posts and were watching me. LOL
On to serious matters, I have found tags for several of the irises I am rescuing...so far I have: Cayanne Pepper, Claverack, Best Bet and Apollo One. Then of course there are the NOID ones, there are lots of those.
My best friend use to think I was terrible, because I would go to some of the old country cemetaries and 'take care' of the flowers that needed thinning and whathaveyou. Mainly peonie and iris. Was getting a nice collection until the divorce and ex wouldn't let me go back and get starts of any of my stuff. Like he really wanted them. :-(
Oh, and come around it does! Karma will get ya every time.
Actually, I have thought about doing the same thing in the cemetaries here. Most are little bitty rural cemetaries and the families are either all there (in the cemetary) or have long ago moved off. We had thought seriously about planting peonies on my dad's grave in Colony KS. The whole family is there and of course when I meet my demise, that is where I will go as well. Since we live 5 hours away we didn't figure a new plant would do well- the mowers would probably chop it off anyway - how nice it would be to have someone that would watch over the plantings. I would really like things to be pretty when I have to move in there.
IMHO the other thing to consider is most anything growing in the old cemetaries is old. The old varieties should be cherished - if you want to prowl the cemetaries let me know, I will come up and visit - you are only 2 hours away!
enid you are a mess girl, but i still like you crit i have taken rose cuttings from the cemetary made my dh go with me not verry good roses most have been let go to long.wood grow better if they were taken better care or. most are old ramblers. and will take over so i stoped doing that. love and hugs nettie
good morning all! I am sure glad they finally got him Mekos but I wouldn't expect soldiers home any time soon. I seriously doubt that the whole thing is over - however, the USA made great strides yesterday! We are one nation under God - the president said so!
I was so proud of his speech I even shed a tear!
They are calling for frost here tonight...doesn't anyone know it is May! Good grief, I don't have enough sheets to cover everything and I will be darned if I drag all that crap back inside! This is not good
good to see all of you on here visiting and messing around garden talk would not come up for me tonight all i could get was adds for different products im not instd and anything for sale not my thing if you know whit i meandid sny of you have that problem.tonight nettie
Those roll over ads are a pain! I get hung up on those all the time Nettie.
Lots of cemetaries that need lookin after here Crit, we could even meet half way and go to jail in some town we have never heard of! Can they arrest us for that? Graveyard plant robbing? Would make a great headline anyway.
I can't believe they are calling for frost, I didn't wait...soon as it warmed up the plants got moved out - hope they survive - I am not going out to cover them tonite, I am way too tired.
ok ladies find and ask someont for permishion to take cuttings people are verry nice about letting you take cuttings. im not feeling good enough to come and get you out. and now is noy a good time to be behind bars. not much heat in thost oklahoma jails. love and hugs nettie
Several years ago, Tubby sent me some seeds, and I have tried ever since to get those darn things to sprout and grow with no luck what so ever, but for some reason, this spring ever one of those seeds that I started inside sprouted and are growing. I didn't start too many of them, but you can bet those little seedlings that are now growing are going to get lots of loving care, as they now mean just that much more to me :-) Thanks Tubby! Bless you and rest in peace, my friend.

al my little log you sent now has two green arms and 3 or4 roots going to plant it up soon just wonder how deep to put it in the dirt. need to ask mekos about that. i tkink you would leave the little arms out but just don,t know so far it has done good. love nettie
Nettie, I would leave the arm out and just plant about half way up the log. The roots will go deeper as it grows. You'll have to show us a picture of it Nettie.
Guess what everyone? I have been feeling bad and my kidneys are trying to quit on me again so for a few days I been sluggish and not doing much at all. Well , WHO knew Santa runs around in MAY?
NEW mail lady came today bringing me a package with the most gorgeous Gladiolus bulbs!
THANKS SANTA!!!!!! I wish you all could see the beautiful colors they will bloom! Amazing.
They are called Easter Joy. Mixed colors. Sure made my day!
mekos those are gona be beaitiful can,t wair until they bloom, i have a few but they don,t grow good here the few i have are old were momas i think. sh could peobly tell me what i need to do to get them to grow better.my eyes are all swolen and red don,t know what i got into this time was some kind of wead ive been pulling them all over don,t thin i will ever get all of them out. you take care of your self don,t push so hard to get things done i can.t come and make you do like you should can.t give you a kidney cause of the canser they don,t even won.t my blood any more. im going yo bed soon you have a good night see you later love and hugs nettie
Nettie, take a benadryl tablet and that may help with whatever you got in your eyes. Maybe too much pollen from all your working out pulling weeds. YOU be careful and don't over-do. I feel some better today. Gotta go get my test results now. back later.
Beautiful day out today after the rain last night. Supposed to be cooler today too.
Hey thought you all might like to read something cute!
