Calling the experts...is this a difficult one to grow??? Seem to recall something from some of the older posts ( I have spent the winter reading them) that this is a bit temperamental. Logee's is offering it on sale with some others now. Thank you

Madame Queen has been very temperamental for me in the past. I'm on my 3rd one and so far no great problems this time around but not a fast grower either (for every new leaf it seems like an older one falls off). I think I was not watering my first two enough during the winter months and they eventually defoliated, shrunk, and kicked the bucket.

Another alternative is Muddy Waters - looks very similar and has been a great grower for me for the past 2 to 3 years. Very thirsty though but I have both of mine in clay pots. Here is one of them.

Taylor's has Madame Queen as well - and if you are taking a road trip there...

That is where I bought my last one. If you buy ten at Taylor's you get free shipping too which is an incentive if you don't live close by and must use mail order.

Thanks for the response. I think I will wait on Madame Queen for now. Still planning the road trip to Taylor's this summer. I ordered a few from them and they will be delivered in a couple of weeks. I couldn't wait for the road trip to get some new begonias. I don't have many yet...and my wish list is long. Now for some warmer, dryer weather!

One of the members of the yahoo begonia group has canes for sale - in quart or 4 inch pots. I'm looking at 10 - 20 plants, maybe some rhizos too.

db...just saw your message. I'm not familiar with the yahoo group but I will look into it. Now that the weather is finally getting warm around here I am looking for begonias! My order from Kartuz should be coming next week. I can't wait. Taylors order should come next week too. Christmas in May.

I don't even remember! I think I ordered them all in February. I have the order confirmations but I think I will just be surprised. Logee's order shipped out today. I will have to post again after they arrive.

I forgot about it! I only have pictures of the two small orders; one from Kartuz and one from Logees. It was very cold and raining when Taylor's order arrived and they were scattered to any available space under the lights in the basement. Haven't had a chance to organize them. This one is Logees, from back left; Elaine, Midnight Sun, Paper Snowflake, Tea Rose and My Special Angel.

They all arrived in pretty good shape except Midnight Sun from Logees. It was completely wilted and stayed that way for days. I actually brought it in the house. I contacted them and they said just wait, it should perk up in a week or two and it is starting to. I haven't had one arrive that wilted before.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm getting ready to place an order. My begonias have to be houseplants. Our environment doesn't support them outdoors.
