Yep, there's actually some rhymes people use to help them remember... "Red touches yellow, kills a fellow. Red touches black, friend of Jack" is one variation. This saying is adequate in all of the United States, save for portions of the Mohave and Sonoran Deserts, where there are a couple small, harmless species where red touches yellow. It is never the other way around though (i.e., there aren't any coral snakes in the US where red touches black).
