The two black snakes that somehow found their way to our kitchen have terrible timing!! Just as I have been trying to reassure our 2 teenagers that most snakes are not to be feared, they came upon 2 rat snakes in our kitchen and with no one else at home had to deal with them alone... With coaching over the phone, our 16 yr old son agreed to exchange the "machete" for a long handled rake, and one snake was safely escorted outside. But... the other one is still a fugative; any thoughts on how I can find and trap safely... I have no desire to find it unexpectedly, and yet do not want to kill it. Just want to help my 13 yr old daughter "rest assured" she wont encounter it on a midnight trip to the bathroom! (sorry~ I know some of you might say none are to be feared~ I'm just not at that level of appreciation!!) Once we are confident it has returned to the wild, another objective is to find the point of entry (ha! house is originally an old barn!!) and attempt to seal it up... thanks for any help!
