Ben, I'm the daughter of a veteran and the wife of a very-recently retired military member. I've only recently learned the significance of poppies, and as a brand-new gardener, I've vowed to grow them in my garden every year from now on. I will be looking for the right location and the right seeds to start my first poppies and, thanks to your article, can explain why they're grown around my home.

Thank you for remembering.

Hi there Amy,

First, I would like to apologize for my belated reply. Thank you for your kind words and you are so very welcome.

Blessings to you and your family,
