Thanks Synda for letting me use your pic :D
We'll toast the 4th of July our swap way!!

Still plenty of time to mail out, and if you're sending plants, the date can be 'stretched' to accomodate the heat :(

Betty, I agree with you!! This is the best swap ever for me! What a way to celebrate Independance Day with patriots like these swappers, plus a very special honorary American.. you!
You got your wish Betty, next year you'll be first on the list, beating Liz!!!

And the best thing about this swap, for as long as I'm with DG, it will go on every year.
Err.. I know it will be on next year...as someone has been so kind as to renew my subscription! :X

Chat away ladies.. firearms...dogs... cats... weather... FLAGS!!!

Jaye, thank you sweetie, now if only you can convince the USA Government to give me dual citizenship I'll be thrilled to no end! lol

Was out shopping last night and saw our Canadian July 1st. decorations out..need to drop in to a few stores and seeing ours is July 1st. I think I'd best at least get a couple of flags to put out before my Canadian friends ask if I've switched allegiance..

Yes indeed, all the boxes received so far are spectacular..look forward to seeing more and of course at some point getting mine ( postal service is on strike so not likely I'll receive it by July 4th) so not to worry swap partner...will have to take a photo of the back deck cafe decorated in your R/W/B...

Betty, every time I think of you...I feel sad that I was not here to meet you :( but then I get Happy...well sort of, because I was visiting my son and his family and that was great, but sad that it was to see him before deployment...and Happy that I have a good friend to be sad about missing...up down, up down...

My brain and my heart are on a roller coaster...a very big, scary roller coaster!!!...did I mention I don't like roller coasters !!!! Hugs to Y'all I am gonna go sew now...calms the soul...

these are ribbons for April and May, I put a ribbon up on my fence every day that my son is away (deployed) sending prayers for all of the soldiers every where...

That's scary sis. Sounds like govt. trying to keep it hush, so there'll be no mass panic.
Let's pray that that won't happen. But to be prepared is much better than gambling it won't happen.

You truly shine as an American, Thunder!!
If there should be a tour around the country to promote patriotism.. you should be in the spotlight!!!
A common American with so much love for this country, and she bleeds AMERICA!!

Yep, get your Canadian flags Betty. Your Canadian neighbours will just envy our Red, White and Blue when comparing the two ;)
Hehehe.
Should you decide to assume US citizenship, I'll be there for the oath taking :D

Charleen, I love Serendipity!! IT's my favorite brug. I grew it in a pot for 4 years, and last year decided to place it in the ground.
It hasn't shown any life this year.
I should have known better, as I lost so many brugs. The only ones that keep on returning are the old staples, like your CG and Jean Pasko and Painted Lady.
Oh well.

Those of us near the New Madrid fault have known for at least 20 years that another big one is due. The earth is constantly shifting. Check out this map of earthquakes in the U.S. in the last 7 days: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/

Betty, they also have one for all of North America. I'll try to find the link for that.

NO ... this is awful. We have been averaging 10* above normal since mid May, with no relief in sight. We usually don't start hitting triple digents until late July into August. This time of year is usually real pleasant in the mornings, and only in the 80's for the day.

Late spring, cold May, no rain, from 70's one week to 90's the next and hasn't let up!!!!! I really dislike this!

It's just been weird here since last summer - freak drought, then freak snowfall amounts in winter, no spring to speak of, rainiest spring on record, then this weird mid-90's at the end of May/beginning of June and last Saturday we finally got a break. We went to normal high 70's Sat, Sun, Mon, and Tuesday. Today it is rainy and 68 and by Sun we're supposed to be in the mid-90s again through all of next week. I give up on even wondering what's next.

Synda, you better change that to northern Ohio - you're up by the lake, you lucky gal. Me? I'm stuck in this darn valley down south with rotten humidity. It's only 80 right now but there's a wet blanket wrapped around you when you walk outside - at least it's not 95 with it. We're back in the 90's on Sunday. Humidity is back with a vengeance right now, I really don't mind the heat even in the 90's. It's the humidity that just seems to wear me out for some reason.

Well, I finally got around to taking a picture of the wonderful things Thunder sent me. I'll give you the list first: 3 small pails with stars, 9 tea light candles in RW&B, a cute heart necklace, of course RW&B, beautiful earings made by Thunder which I'll be wearing a lot (yes I wear pierced earings) RW&B paper for printer, post it notes and a magnetic list pad and a very pretty Tshirt with flag on it. Almost forgot the table runner she made and I'm so thrilled that it will fit exactly on top of the cedar chest my son made me that I use for a coffee table (full of junk right now). I tried to take a picture of the beautiful earings, but too much white no matter where I set them to take picture. Thunder, thank you so much I love every thing you sent.

Pegi, I know you appreciate Thunder's work, being a craftsperson yourself.
Ain't our Thunder talented? I see clearly the earrings in the first pic. They are so pretty!!! One of a kind!!
Awesome runner!! Pegi, you'll be getting questions!!
Here I go bragging on Thunder again, but it's the truth.
She's also a Super Quilter who truly enjoys giving away her work.
Do you know that she gave away so many quilts to charity, besides making for her family?
What a woman, that Thunder!

I'm NOT forwarding my RW&B presents to anyone, they are staying here in my home on my person. Now that I've said that, I once again will say I love all the wonderful things Thunder sent me. I can't believe the table runner will fit perfectly on my cedar chest. This chest is very special to me as my son who made it is the one we lost 6 years ago. I think it is time to make it look like new again, and it is full of all the wonderful things my mother made me over the years. I feel so blessed.

I got my box today from Crit, so sorry to take so long to post, but I just got home!
The box was so full that Crit couldn't even close it, rofl, I don't know how she packed it so well, not one thing broken.
Starting at the back:
A flag bow (which I have the perfect place for it)
A really nice oven mit with the cups on it (which I needed desperately!)
A pot holder (dog ate the my last one, I have been forced to use a towel)
See the red jar those are strawberries, never saw anything like that, can't wait to taste it
Blue jar is blue berry soy candle
Then a wonderful red metal bucket with the blue star, it is going in the center of the table on my new runner
One of those really cool glass blown automatic water bulb- see it in the red metal bucket
Now going on to right side
Really cool blue stones, I use those alot when I cut flowers for the vases, they just make everything look so much better
The blue oblong dish is a citronella candle
On top of that is my very own fireworks center piece which will go on the table
Moon vine seeds, I am going to get those planted this weekend!
Then last but not least, wonderfully packed plants that were still moist!
Salvia Blue Queen!
Fuji White balloon flower!
Red Fox (Veronica)...rofl, DH and got married in Vegas and we went to see "Red Fox" while we were there! So that one will have extra special meaning!
A great box, packed perfectly, from a great gal...I really like everything in it. I will post a pic this weekend when I get the table all decorated!

Editted to say, wish I would of made the pic bigger. I will repost in the am, 4:30 is gonna come early...but had to post my great box, and I see two of you are still up chatting away... ;)

rofl, I must of been tired last night and when Crit said she used real things as packing material she was so right. I missed a pot holder that matched the oven mit, that was on the side of the box...rofl. Walked into the laundry room where the "empty" box was and glaring at me was a pot holder! Don't know how I missed it, but the box was just bursting with wonderful goodies, I just couldn't believe it.

I am guessing the trick with the frig and the plants must of worked because it was as if I had just got them ready to ship. Plenty of moisture and just in the best of shape. I could stick them in the fridge at work and then take them to the po. I am going to try that and see if it helps.

I loved everything and will have a wonderful time decorating with them in my finally complete (expect for knobs) new kitchen...yeah!

Edit to say, we finally got rain yesterday, last night, and so far today. I am so excited! My box is going out Monday.

I've just been so sick that I haven't been able to keep up with the threads , the housework or my gardens. This bronchitis has just really kicked my butt, that's what happens as you get old I guess. I got the rest of the pressies for the box yesterday when I went to town for the doctor, finally got the energy to get it in the box and the address on it. Come tomorrow if I can't get to the PO my DH will. So come hell or high water it will get to my good buddy.

I love the USA because we are shocked if we find out a politician lies, a woman is treated as property, something disappears out of the mail, a govt. censors the media, a civil servant is bought off, someone is turned totally away from critical lifesaving care because of money, someone is killed for voting, or someone is not allowed to practice their religion. We are shocked because this is usually foreign to us (well, except for the politicians lying - but we still get mad when we find that out). I love the US (and Canada too) because integrity is honored and we sincerely want to help people in need - not just because it's the political thing to do, but because it's the "right" thing to do.

Thanks for the well wishes, This is the 3rd time to the doctor and the third round of antibiotics. I can't take just any kind, he has to be careful because of the medicine I have to take with the RA and what I'm not allergic to. The last antibiotics I couldn't take the RA drugs and I was in so much pain from the RA and from coughing that I though I was going to go nuts. I have no energy at all, and I can't sleep because of the coughing, I just plain sick of being sick. Today is a better day and I have gotten a few things done. now it is time to rest again.

LOL Susie at the kitties in the box. What great gifts everyone is receiving! I love it all - such thoughtful unique items and the plants and handcrafted items are the tops. My mail came today with no package for me so I called the company and they gave me yet another date for my buddy's items so I just told them to cancel it. Unfortunately, what I had ordered was specifically for my partner and I hate it that the company messed up. So...my buddy's package is going out tomorrow. A bit late but it's going.

mutt - regarding your earlier thoughts -I totally agree.

I love the USA because I have the freedom to say and do whatever I want and so do all my family and friends. I look at people around the world and how they are persecuted for their religion, thoughts, gender, race, etc and all I can think about is how lucky we are to live here and how lucky we are to have people willing to defend those freedoms with their lives. To all those that whine and complain about what a rotten country this is, all I can say is - Go live somewhere else and tell me what you think then!

Just stopping in for a minute to let you all know I got my box from Synda yesterday and OMG can she pack a box, wait till you see it all. I love it all. I am going to post pics later when I have a chance to take them, company is here and we been busy. My DS has taken pity on me with my sickness and has come to help me get boxes unpacked and her hubby is helping mine with the garage and the yard. They are all a blessing right now.

Thank you so much Synda, be back later, I hear my sis getting up.

I'M back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been so busy with Liam, family (Mom fell, broke her arm, had surgery), volunteering and trying to keep my yard watered that I hardly have any time for anything else!

I have my box ready and will get it out in the mail tomorrow. So sorry to be so behind in things.

I love you all and will be back soon. Julie

Thanks to my buddy for alerting me about my package. Once again the carrier put it out front...I never use the front door..Southern thing I guess.

I will post pictures later today but let me say it is full of the most wonderful, creative things I have ever seen...LOVE IT.

Marion, I am like you. I always go in through the back door as I park my car in the garage. My regular carrier is really good about leaving me a note if a package has come and if he has put it in the agreed place or somewhere else because of the sun or something. But the others usually leave it for me at the front door. (I thank God that they don't just leave it by the mailbox!!! Great carriers!) I have learned when I get home at night to always check the front door. :-)

Happy Father's Day everyone, whether yours is still with you, or you're like me reliving memories. Today was flooded with so many fond ones and can still hear my Dad's big belly laugh. He always had a smile on his face, a joke up his sleeve, and never met a stranger. Really miss those days when I could call and ask his advice about growing veggies, but what I don't miss was my job weeding. What kid would have wanted to when their friends were either at the Y in the swimming pool or riding their bikes around the neighborhood?

Susie, I had a fabulous time getting your goodies and plants together and am SO glad I was able to share some different plants you didn't already have. That is not an easy feat! Coreopsis "Red Shift" is another plant that starts with young Yellow blooms that will have Red tinges as they age. And ya never know -- that tall, dark, handsome prince may still show up on your doorstep when you least expect him 0:)

Should I be expecting some more wonderful pictures today??
Hurry Robin.. Maid M. Feast these eyes please!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day.
Fathers who instilled in their children a love for the country, are certainly to be commended. Not an easy task, considering nowadays how some nations like to villify USA.

Betty, that's not a kind of run anyone would be looking forward to. But paying respects on Father's Day to the ones that have left this earth, is indeed so thoughtful of you.

I'm with the Fatherless group. Susan, I truly envy the relationship you had with your dad.
I was blessed with a grandad who saw fit to give my sisters and I, the positive male attention needed when my dad had only time for his sons.

Susan, the list of RWB plants you've given me, is the coreopsis one of them? It's beautiful.

Put a spoonful of sugar in your mouth and swallow it as it dissolves. (Right hand in the air) I swear, it works for me!!!!!

Forcasting possibly severe weather here tonight so I may not be online if I lose my satellite connection. Will likely be here if I have connection. Can use the rain, but don't like the severe stuff. Have my 'fraidy hole' all set up and ready if we need it. :-)

Had a good day yesterday. DH's two sons came out. We grilled burgers, went horseback riding and swimming. Was a nice day.

Jaye, Saturday it was a day of memories, met my sister and did 3 graveyards putting floral arrangements on all, most of my cousins live out of town so we did it for them..

Then Sunday, hubby's..

Work day but a day of rest for me..never stop when I'm at home...but did manage to do the 2nd pond..just need help with flat rock for the falls, I'm bullheadedness and usually try to do things myself, but after moving the rock I did move, I knew better as my body was saying 'take a break!' lol

Was out on back deck for coffee this morning..looked so pretty with my RWB and RW honoring both countries..

Got to run..

This is going to take a few minutes, Synda can sure pack a small box with big items and lots of them too. She didn't even use very much tape. My sister would have used a whole roll on it.

First we have in the pic RWB Hanging heart, 2- 12 ft banners, 2- 9ft tissue banners, 4 USA flags for my pots, 5 hanging flag stars, flag stickers, flag stickers and a ceramic RWB Candle Holder with Blueberry Cobbler candle, it smells so delicious. DH has already planned where to put everything up and he even wants to take a couple of the flags and stars with us for the car for when we go to his 50th Air Force Reunion in Sept.

In this pic is a pair of blue garden gloves, a hand towel that is cross stitched with RWB flag heart and another little stuffed animal, a little bear with his flag sweater on. He also comes with 2 other sweaters one for Christmas and one for Halloween. He is sitting here on my computer desk along with 7 other little bears to keep him company.

Synda did you sew the heart basket and the hand towel, such a great job. I'm loving it all. I am still in awe about how you stuff all this into that little box. You be the Queen of the packing.

Thank you so much for it all. RWB rules and so does this swap.

Good Lord, Synda, you must have known of her DH's Air Force reunion.
Now he can brag about a bunch of patriotic gardeners!
Another wonderful job you did, and all at $20 :D

You're right Betty. There must be a store called "Name Your Price" where these ladies can sure pack their boxes for under $20.
Unless you're like LK there who's oblivious to the limit!! Lolol!!!

rofl...on the price, altho, I must say the things I have collected and will mail this week, have been pretty amazing on the cost side. I have ran into some deals...and then only had to be 50 to get the senior discount on top of that...not that I probably couldn't have qualified if it was a higher number...rofl.

Crit, I use the sugar to get rid of hiccups also. Honestly I hate the taste or the texture one of the other, but I am guessing it is the texture that stops the hiccups.

Beautiful boxes everyone is receiving. So many different types of red, white, and blue.

We had a good Fathers Day, we went to a car show (even tho it was blazing hot and humid), he enjoyed himself and I took him out to eat.

Here we have an organization that raises money for Hospice and one of the ladies that donates their time did the Cross Stitch Towel ,I seen it and thought it would be perfect for your box and would also help the community in there aid to the terminally ill patients and their families !

I did have to use my BRUT Strength to have the boxes flaps meet and tape together ...LOL.

For any of the Swaps I'm in I try and start the year before collecting stuff for the next one,and then all I have to do is pick up a few personal items after I get my Buddies name ...LOL.

Also had some things to finish today as we are leaving in the morning to go see Mom for a week. Well a week provided...
I will go back later for a longer visit sometime toward the middle or end of July. Always a good time for me to be gone as things are hectic here when Kim starts back to work. She actually does better if I am off doing my thing.

Glad my package arrived safely and you enjoyed all the RW&B. So today I was out and noticed a lot more RW&B I missed, guess that means I should start picking up things for next year.

I'm not one for tatoos, but that butterfly is so pretty I may change my mind.

DH got two shots today, one in his right shoulder and one in right knee for his arthritis. Young man who took his vitals said we looked patrotic, DH had t-shirt with flag on it under his outer shirt and I had my flag purse and blue shirt with RW&B flip flops on it and AMERICA written underneath. Should have worn my new earings from Thunder too. Saw a woman with an umbrella (sun was pretty hot) all done up in RW&B. Darn wish I had that to send to my buddy.

>> LK I wish...next one will be "navy" butttttt I have always wanted to get a RWB butterfly and RWB dragonfly..
Navy one is in the search for ideas phase...and I have no Idea where I want to put it??? so that is sorta making it harder to decide on what I want???/ thinking maybe a bird (sailor/ pirate) and / or some type of anchor...one of those beware symbols for nuclear has been suggested, as he is going into Nuclear Propulsion... I have been drooling over "sailor Jerry" designs...

Writing isn't backwards, but I have to move my page over to the right so I can read everything. Not liking the new layout, but then I see not too many do. Will probably get used to it in time, or NOT.

Crit the writing in the pic is backwards on my screen also...rofl. You not crazy...well do I really want to go that far...let's just say the writing is backwards...LOL

Box is packed to the hilt, glad it is flat rate. I am also sending an envelope with stuff. Still had stuff and couldn't get it packed in there and it won't fit in an envelope... ;( Wish postage wasn't quite so expensive. I was up packing at 11pm last night, DH finally came out to see if I was ok or had been eaten by a wild critter... Had a really really bad day at the office yesterday, what could break or not run correctly did...got home so hyper that I mowed, watered, cleaned the filter on the pond, cleaned up things and packed the box, and I didn't get home until 7:30pm... Nothing like a bad day at the office for me to find happiness in the garden!

Got my package mailed off tonight after work! I will dmail the confirmation tomorrow, it is in my car, but the po best guess is it will be delivered Saturday... I actually sent a box and a first class big envelope so we will see which shows up first. Oh I hope everything shows up ok...

Woa!!! I'm glad I'm back online!!

Look at all the goodies!!!!
Sis Kathy, it's amazing that Lady Marion is NOT late. She broke her record!!! Or is it 4th of July?
She sure wants you to get a good celebration, looks like you need a bigger table next year for your RWB!!

Thunder, that's awesome what you got there!! Who would have thought of something that lit, but Jax!!!
Lolol.. so cheerful, will get you in the mood for RWB all the time!!!

A few more to go and we'll be flying high in decorations.. except for sweet Betty whose postal service isn't co-operating. But she got plenty to have a joyous 4th from her own collection.
(One to be envied by us).

Lookee, new room for new displays.
