Shame, they're exceptionally dependable, but fade way before the heat starts, more than likely they require the frost period. - but you guys in Az have a lot of plants and cacti which I can only admire from afar as well, I have a collection of about 50 cacti & succulents which I keep under lights, tiny in size compared to what you can grow in Arizona!
Yes, they are very showy, PedricksCorner, more substantial than snowdrops, they break ground here while the temps are in the low to mid 40°s during the daytime, taking overnight lows into the low 30's at night.
