I'm in, Susie, since I've already got some "critters" stuck away in my gift stash. Perfect for this! :-)

Edited to add that I like all critters that are realistic or perhaps a little bit whimsical or zany. I'm NOT fond of fairies, elves, gnomes, fantasy figures, etc. Just not my thing.

Oooh, I didn't know about Frankie and SweetPea - how cool! The veterans home in Quincy IL use to have peacocks and peahens but I haven't seen one there for years - not since one of the cocks decided this elderly blind vet was a rival for his hen and had to be beaten off with the white cane. You don't mess with a vet - even old and blind ones. But they are still really cool birds. Do you get the police out there ever from someone swearing a person is screaming for help?

One of the lightening strikes hit one of our local radio stations and knocked them off the air for a few minutes. That location is less than a mile from our house...scared the crap out of me too! Made it to work during a dry spell but now it is storming again...more lightening, thunder and pouring rain.

If the weather gets too severe, they will make us all go to the basement. I'm probably better here than at home! No basement in my house. Looks like we are in for storms most of the day or at least all morning! Brought my lunch with me today so I don't have to go out!

WOW ... that is some storm. You take care! Glad they have a basement there. We don't have one at work. My hallway goes to an interior bathroom. It use to be a small appartment so has a tub we can get into. There are only 4 of us, so we could do it. No basement here either, but neighbor has a storm shelter we can get in. Is maybe 100 yards from our front door. If can't make it over there, have my 'fraidy hole' ready. Walk in closet in my bedroom. Already stocked with flashlights, weather radio, pillows and a bottle of water. We are suppose to have severe weather tonight starting around 7 p.m. until midnight or 1 a.m. or so. Will be online as long as my satellite internet holds up.

Susie, so glad that your brother can watch daddy so you can go for your appt. and a little shopping. With all you do, the least they can do is relieve you once in a while. Have fun shopping.

This is another one of my new ones blooming today, Gironda.

I can tell you this,, I hated mine. But got lucky and was able to get ATT dsl after 2 years of h*&l.
Now here we cannot get dsl but got cable modem and it is 4 times faster than my dsl was. Wierd huh?? Go online to see if you will have a cable company availeable, you can use your new zip code to see what is availeable. Also check with AT&T. You donot even have to have a phone to get DSL any more.

I will never never ever recommend Dish TV or Direct TV or Huges network. I tried them all and they just flat out lie to you. And after your 6 months at the real low rates they jack up the bill to $$$. I flat out had a heart attack and even after I fulfilled my commitment, they went and charged $200.00 to my debit card that I never could get back. I was furious!!

I FOUND A GREAT CRITTER TODAY & I DON"T Even Know who I will be sending yet hehe Just could not pass it up :) all I Will say is fun sweet adorable & I Might have to think how i'm going to ship that might not be to easy .

I don't have any complaints about my Hughesnet so far, except that it goes out when there is a bad storm, like the tv does. We are at a place where there was no dsl connections available (the cable line ends about 1 1/2 miles south of me), US Cellular air card didn't have good reception so went to my only choice besides dial-up...satellite. It is more expensive but it was my only choice.

My son was thinking we should go Hughesnet, but I was thinking more the Verizon air card. Then I could take it with me down to the coast when we go and use the laptop more. The only concern with that is that I may use up the 'allotted' time, especially if my daughter and I shared one. Geez, shes on it all the time.

Love that calla! So pretty! I have not tried to grow them here!

Susie, I'll help you assign names, if no one else has signed up.

Sure hope your Dad is feeling better soon! Don't let him be too stubborn, his signs of confusion and tiredness, may be a stroke. It needs attention as soon as possible. Ask him if can smile at you, or stick out his tongue. Can he speak clearly?

Signs of a stroke...

http://www.strokeinfo.org/?gclid=CNLrlvqux6kCFQsS2godXBlenA

Face... Does one side of the face droop? Ask the person to smile.
Arms... Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
Speech... Is speech slurred? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Is the sentence repeated correctly?
Time... If the person shows any of these symptoms, CALL 9-1-1 Immediately!

You taught me last year, Neener, to clip Mums this time of year and did that two weeks ago when mine first started to show buds. I gave them a good haircut and stuck the cuttings in a a pot of Miracle Gro potting soil next to the "mom" plant, Susie, with no special treatment like hormone powder, and am amazed only watering when needed that most of the cuttings have already rooted.

Outside critter for me please...anything goes from frogs to bunnies, dragonflies & butterflies, lizards & spiders...realistic or whimsical. If you send me a snake, I'm gonna send it back COD! When I was in town Friday scoping out the toy department trying to get ideas for Elfie's miniature garden swap, the lower shelf was loaded with rubber snakes that totally freaked me out.

Fruity, you would love this, finally took my long nepenthes out of the GH the other day and was trimming it up, because I let it dry out and some of the leaves dried up. Right there at the top was a snake skin entwined in the plant. I knew there was one that lived in there but haven't seen him lately. Guess he's back!!

Our Atwoods farm store has all kinds of little critters. Cows, horses, zebra, etc. I look at them but don't remember what all there was. Don't know the price either, probably $2-3. Tractor Supply probably would have some, I've only been in our new store here once so don't remember.

Same with our Rural King ... whatever farm store you have nearby, if you have one, would probably have them.

Awwww ... this Black Rat Snake eats rats and mice, among other things. S/he's a constrictor. Not poisonous. Left quickly ... which was a good thing. My neighbor just told me one of the tenants who had rented the house on the other side of her "kept" pet snakes.

Debbie, are you affiliated with Purdue U. in any way? My girlfriend just earned her Ph.D there year before last, I think it was.

Well two more days To sign up if no one signs up today even I Don't think they will tomorrow so I will close it early tomorrow send LK 1/2 the names & I will have the other half & YOU ALL WILL GET Your Partners name on " SUNDAY "

NOW I just want to say we know that you all have sent to each other before or receive from one another so it will be hard to match you with anyone you have not sent or received UNLESS You send me a Note & Tell me who you have sent to or haven't sent to . its no matter as for who I rec from or send to but if you want to send or rec from some one new just let us know. my mail.

Just wanted to let you know I will be gone for the day. Going to San Angelo for a follow up on my back, just a normal trip every 3-4 months. I will be back tomorrow, and hopefully with a new tower for the computer!

Susie, as soon as I get back, I will let you know, so I can help you give out names.

C'ville: I work in the Business Office of the College of Technology @ Purdue U. I manage the sponsored program accounts for the faculty in all of the technology departments. I make sure they spend the funds they receive from submitting proposals to all kinds of sponsors...federal, industrial, etc. Up until February of 2010, I worked on the beginning end of sponsored projects by preparing the budgets and putting together the documents (written by faculty) to submit proposals to the sponsors. I missed doing those budgets and making those deadlines...for awhile! Now I'm at the 'other end' of the process and I keep very busy monitoring the accounts, pulling monthly reports and preparing correcting documents to fix things that shouldn't have happened in the first place! :)

Amanda: Nice Iguana! But not for me! My son and a friend of his found one walking through an apartment parking lot one Sunday afternoon. They 'very carefully' caught it and took it to a local animal feed store in town. I don't know if they ever figured out where it belonged or not. The store knew how to take care of it and that's what they were looking for.

We have a Rural King here also and they have any kind of animal you can think of. In a couple of different sizes. Farm animals, jungle animals, zoo animals, etc.

I found a really cool looking owl in a local grocery store (of all places) this morning! And a wood look cute black bear couple!

Beautiful here too ... sprinkling off and on. I'm out the door to plant today ... someone in IN sent me all these daylily bulbs. :-) :-)

I hauled in soil yesterday too and garden mix and also got one of those round hard plastic kiddie pools to put it in to use as a garden bed. I'm running out of prepared planting beds and trying to dig in this Bermuda grass this time of year is the pits. And that's putting it nicely. Grrrrr... hate the stuff! :(

Ohh, thanks for the great idea. It is all rock and clay here, so was going to do raised beds. But love the idea of the kiddy pools!! That way when we leave in 2 or 3 years, we can just pick them up, dirt, plants and all and load them in a truck to be moved to new place and will not have to "fix" the property back to what it was!!! I am going to use theblack rectangular concrette mixer tubs for mine though,, and just push mulch up to the edges to cover the sides.
Now I really really need to get to home depot!!

GA, you know he's still slithering in there somewhere. Yikes!
And double yikes, Carole, but at least you gave me fair warning and I didn't click on your pic...lol

I saw the leftovers of one's body with its head a couple of feet away last week right next to my corner garden...way too close for comfort...and figured Hubby must have run over it with the lawn mower. One of our kitties brought a live snake in the garage a couple of weeks ago and dumped it on his feet while he was talking on the phone. At first he thought one of the cats was rubbing up against him til he looked down on his flip-flop feet and the thing had coiled up! Then I heard him scream "Holy Crap!" but believe you me, his words would have been much more colorful if he hadn't been on the phone...LOL! He grabbed one of my shovels and beat that poor thing so badly we now have pits in the concrete floor.

Welcome Outlaw! The more the merrier I always say! I've been searching for crazy critters here in ss, may have to move on to Tulsa. Still not sure what I'm looking for, but guess I'll know it when I see it, huh????

GM everyone! When I woke up early I said to myself "self, this is a good time to plant those gazillion plants you have that need to go into the ground". Sooooooooooooo, where am I? In my recliner, on the computer, still not dressed. Another good idea slides on by. Already 84* ... think it might stay that way????? Nah, forecast of 102* today. UGH! Think I may take advantage of this sometime today!

*spoiler alert* but great story I have to share
I packed up some things for the salvation army about 2 weeks ago while painting our house. I lost my engagement ring about that time, but had been weeding and assumed it was eaten up by the garden gnomes. Well, I had packed some dark ---- ----- and ------- -------- that I thought would be perfect to send along, so I lifted out an old 'schlitz' mug that we didn't want since we're tea totalers and I heard a rattle. Thinking it would be wrong to send broken glass to the salvo I peeked in and there was my ring!!!!
I'll be darned! :) I almost brought that box to town TODAY!

Thanks for adding me, LK and Susie!! I love critters :) I love butterflies, dragonflies, gnomes, dragons, fairies, cutesy animals and real looking animals. Hmm, I basically like it all LOL-- oh, guess fairies aren't critters :-)

My address in the Exchange is current for me :)

I would love one myself but I'm afraid that they wouldn't make it too long on the street we live on. And, our dog simply can't stand cats! She is getting up in years (14) and is part black lab, shepherd and husky...has the very long hair that just goes everywhere!

Awww.. I cannot wait for Patches and Elizabeth to get here on the 11th of July!! That is when we have all our doctors appointments, vet appointments and I have an apointment to get a pedicure too!! Going to be a really busy day.

Well I got up this morning at 5 am determined to get the hostas beds set up and all the hostas in the ground. I was working right along and then disater struck!!!

I was bending over putting a hosta in the ground and all the sudden had a horrible sharp pain in my stimache. I whipped up right way to fast and tore up my back, then I got 2 more pains in my arm and stomach again!! Apparently I was kneeing on a YELLOW JACKET nest!! So now I have swollen stomache, swollen arm and I cannot bend over at all. My back really really hurts. I think I pulled some mucsles from the jumping up in down in pain thisng. I am in the house now on the couch. Took two pain pills and a benadyll. So I will not be packing up any boxes today after all as I canot bend over. That is unless Ralph will do it when he gets up. I can sit at the table and he can hand me everything and do the lifting and taping. I can do the packing up. Darn it I was feeling really good today too. And so proud of myself for getting out and getting so much done,,,sigh

OUCH!!! Make a paste out of baking soda and a little water, and soak those stings. it sure does help.
I have also heard to tape a penny on a sting, the copper is somehow supposed to re-act to the sting? And make sure you have removed the stingers!

Off topic here, Susie, but now the 'Chocolate Milk' daylilies you sent earlier are both setting buds. I'm going to get to see them this year too. Yay!

It will be fun to see what "critters" everyone receives in this swap.
