Invisible Soldier
by Sarge Lintecum

You can tell her by the twinkle in her eye,
At parades when the flag marches by.
She served our country and she served it very well.
Some have even served a tour or two in Hell.

She suffered hardship and never ceased to care.
It gave us strength just to know that she was there.
She was a leader, you could tell by the rank she wore,
But she became the invisible soldier after the war.

She can march, she can fly, and she can sail.
She proved that bravery isn't exclusive of the male.
She did every job she was asked and more,
But she became the invisible soldier after the war.

Now, it is finally time to right a wrong.
Honor our sister soldier; hear her song.
It's very clear that she's a patriot to the core.
Don't let her be the invisible soldier anymore.

I found my box on my front porch from Robyn. YEAH! I actually got it 2 days ago but the storms keep knocking out the computer - and not necessarily those close by. Lost the T.V. and the computer (and some people the phone system) for an entire day because a mud slide up north a bit wiped out a cable. Today it is beeeutiful.

Robyn, how did you know me so well? Guys, she sent a red visor because if I don't wear a hat outside I turn into a beet. She sent a really cool little Eagle plaque. She sent a pot holder mit and matching towel (I've already used the pot holder) and the biggest surprise was the four ice cream bowls, ice cream scoop and spoons - red white and blue. How did you know that I consider ice cream one of the major food groups? Pictures will follow once I get my camera geared up to go. Thank you, Robyn so much. I love that box of treasure!

Got a feeling there will be more pics before bed, and I’m right!!!

I'm glad to be back, Thunder. I was missing on RWB goodies!!

Jax, you don’t need another tote.. I do!! I love anything strawberries, and it seems there is a conspiracy going on to make me jealous! Where did you find that tote, Julie?
Nope never had “batcheon” buttons neither. Always a new species to try in our garden ;)
Good job Julie. With your busy-ness, you still find time to make Jax happy.

Ahhhh, I see that Joyce does shop at the Name Your Price store!! Patti, I hate to tell you this, but Joyce used a magic wand to stuff all those goodies neatly in your box.
I can’t believe the RWB plants plus the extras you got Patti. Indeed you’ve been blessed, and not just with a box but an envie too!! LOVE that table runner!! Did you make that Joyce?
You’ll enjoy the scent of the white butterfly ginger. Now you really have enough hostas for a beautiful bed.
Great job making your buddy happy, Joyce. Patti will now have a broad smile on her face for the rest of the weekend!!

Jeanie, I am so glad that you got a great box yourself. I’m a visual gal.. so please hurry with your pic!!! Wonder what will my doctor says if I were to tell him that Ice Cream is a major food group? Most probably he’ll agree!!

And yes, we’re not Americans till we have a patriotic rubber duckie!! God Bless the USA!!

jaye... I believe the magic wand! Can't wait for the ginger to grow and flower. I don't have a white one. I have a peach and a couple that I started from ginger I bought in the store. I'm so excited for my gingers. That is something I wanted to get several of!

Wow, neat boxes everyone has received. Kathy, the bottom of the flower pots are finished with a chalk board base so you can write on them with chalk. I was looking for some r,w&b chalk but no could find.

Getting ready to go see Mom. Kim and I have the late shift today 1 until...
She actually seems better, obviously still weak and fraile, but more resigned to where she is and realizing there is no way we could bring her home and care for her. Eating like a pig!! LOL

Have a safe trip Maid M!! Hope the storms don't follow you.

This is amazing!!! The first year we had this swap, many of us were kinda 'lost' in finding RWB stuffs.
We're now in the 3rd year and many of us had turned pros and seem to find the same chain of Name Your Price shops!!! Lolol!!
Watch out next year, I have the utmost confidence there will be more RWB goodies that we haven't seen so far!!!

Fantastic collection there Julie. Yep... I agree with Patti. Love everything Di had gathered for you. Love that pail!!!
Is it only me that can't find RWB socks?????
We can't get enough of kitchen towels.
Julie dahlin, which one is the table runner?
Great job Di. Pat yourself on the back, you're an outstanding Patriot!!

Patti, thanks for thinking this swap is great. Me too!!!! Lolol. What better way than a RWB swap to bond our love for USA.

God Bless The USA
by Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I'm proud to be and American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

God Bless Canada too!!

Glad you liked everything and they seemed to make it thru your 90+ degree weather. I was really really worried. We were cool here but you sure weren't. Hope everything grows for you and helps feel in your new hosta bed...whew I can do a sigh of relief..never mailed in pots and they sure took up alot of room or I could of stuck more plants in there.

We are suppose to be hotter than a fire cracker around here, which will feel hot since we woke up to 63 degrees this morning! Tomorrow heat index over 100, amazing 35 degree swing in less than 24 hours. Hey Okie Crit one of the division managers called me from around there and said it was a true 114 degrees where he was! OMG! That is awful! Hope you aren't that hot!

We are in the country on a hill and we can see fireworks from all over. We have had rain so the fire possiblity is low thank goodness. Feel for you all where it is hot and dry, fires could be a real problem! I have gone up on the roof in years past and laid back and watched. Love fireworks. I don't like to set them, just watch them.

I may get some energy and have friends over. Maybe cook some hot dogs, hamburgers, simple good old stuff.

Being that you won't be needing your RWB this year, is it safe to get your box out after Monday? Trying not to overwork Canada Post there!!!

Hot dogs?? Anyone mention hot dogs??

I'll be grilling on my own come 4th of July. It will be Ekrich brand of hot dogs or either good old Hillshire Farm polish sausages!! Maybe some grilled zuchinnis too.
Kel's working that day, so there are plenty for anyone that want some.

Wow, Joyce, that's HOT!! I used to work in a dye house, and the machines can make the whole dye dept. register at 118*.

Cindy, did you make that 3 layered candle? I bet it smells good.
Love the spinners. I see that you have enough to share Judy :D

Now, where did you find that fabric Cindy? Don't cut it up Judy, it's too pretty and can be laid beautifully on any dinner table... me think.

Judy, don't you worry.. your buddy is a very patient lady.

Donovan is cute!! Bet he loves being around you!

happ ... we broke our record of 102* yesterday, we were 106*. Have no idea what the heat index was!!!! I know it was freaking HOT though. Could fry an egg on the sidewalk HOT. Then about 7 o'clock the wind switched to the north and it cooled down quite a bit pretty quick. Had a rain cell go through here this morning, but we only got just short of 1/4". Not enough to do anything. More chance tonight and in the morning. Hope we get some more. It rained really hard at work and looked dark up this way, but where I live was right on the north edge of it.

Judy ...Great RWB box you recieved! I LOVE that beach towel. I love spinners too, I think they are realy neat. Good job Cindy!

Bet that won't taste good, Joyce!!! Poor Patti with the heat issues.
I'm in that club too. It's been in the 3 digits and this morning, it's already in the 80s. Dare I hope the temps won't soar?
Unless it rains...

Cindy, do your WM still has a fabric dept. We only get the pre cut fabrics and the selection is truly pathetic.

Hint.. hint eh? Lolol Synda... guess she told you!!

This is turning out into one incredible RWB swap. I never imagine the wide range of goodies out there and especially the home made ones.

So far, only 2 names left to get theirs. Good thing about these gifts, they don't have an expiration date... oh well.. unless they're food items :D

Liz sent me some RWB goodies!!!!!!!
Thank you so much Liz. Kel was next to me when I pulled out the gifts, and he immediately told me that I'm lucky.
Yes I am :-) Thank you, thank you, you don't have to. But I appreciate everything you made and I wore them last night.
Will be wearing them to church too!

I wish my camera is still good for taking pictures, but it's kaput.

Anyway, Liz made me a bracelet, just like the one she made for Pegi. A pair of earrings and a ring too. All with Patriotic buttons and charms!
Liz, I fingered ALL the charms on the bracelet, and I love them!!
Can't get over the cute blue teapot!! Thank you for using a magnetic clasp. So convenient.
I can't imagine the hours you put into making these pretties.
Yayyy... now I have my own RWB jewelry, plus the pendant you had made for me..

Jaye, meant a great deal when I read your comment about we're sisters as heart, some knowing each other for many years and have witnessed good times and some not so good..

As I walked around my garden tonight I came back in the house for my camera, too many photo's to post individually so not as visable, but in each of the collages are items received in swaps or maybe birdhouses we shared patterns and made, just too many too mention..you may see some hidden in the photo's..

Jaye, should challenge you to see how many you remember, some are from you, some from Judy, Liz..things bought at Joyce's..you might remember our trip to the beautiful gardens Joyce took us to..I have a treasure that each time I pass it I think of our weekend together..I've travelled to Judy's, Liz met me there, picked up several items (I know, love the cracker barrel too much) I've been with Debbie on many trips and there are a few items purchased on those outings as well as a few Debbie gave me..Crissy as well..as I walk through the DG friendship garden and see sisters signs with mileage on a travel post I think of the many I've met and the many I long to meet

So a swap is not JUST a swap, it's making friends and memories..

Tonight as I see so much beauty, so much friendship, I think that behind the RWB is what our men/ladies fight for..the freedom to allow all to be equal..for all to cherish each others beliefs..we do have lot to be thankful for..

Omg Jaye, tell me it ain't so, somebody actually says that?? Perhaps it's me because I live in Canada and shipping is more..cannot imagine that it goes on!! Now you will say you are joking right?

Oh Jaye I'm so hoping you'll get to come..perhaps a bunch could travel together, furthest person picking up the other..be no hotels, room for everyone..

Now to tell you the truth this time I didn't go looking, you just let the ca't out of the bag. Lol.

There are birdhouses, windchimes, bird feeders, solar lights, stepping stones all in those photo's...all from swaps. And Jaye you missed the large rusted metal basket that I bought on our outing at joyce's

It's a perfect Canada Day here, just got in, of course in my travels I found a 4 ft metal bird with bobbing head and and floppy wings..it's

painted but I shall sand so it rusts just like all my other pieces, now comes where to put it..

Oh well Betty, blame it on Kel for drawing your name :P
I was sooooo wanting ehem.. I shan't say it.. maybe I'll get her next year.

He's so excited about having you, that for the first time ever, he himself got involved in the 'selection'. When you see it, you'll recognise his input!!

No dahlin'.. the cost of postage did not deter anyone here, even though it's to Canada. Remember, we all shop at the "Name Your Price Store".

It will be nice if maybe next year, I'll trek along with someone to Victoria Harbor. But I'm almost at the end of the eastern seaboard, and out of everyone's way. I'll just have to save my pennies for that air ticket!

That bobbing bird, if only it's not so tall...maybe you could paint it RWB. That will be a great swap present! Will look good in my garden!! Lolol!!

LOL went outside to see the bird and broke him down into components, yep, could very well paint him RWB but alas, want him to rust like all my other pretties...fade into the background, kind of garden art I like..lol

OMG I'm thilled that Kel has participated in my RWB..excited as can be..you just made my Canada Day!!!

While outside a few minutes ago I went into the secret garden, tell Kel to drive you and he and I can spend time hidden from the rest of you..lol
Tonight when it cools down, I must cut the shrub (one with little white flowers) grown far too large..see the walking stones leading into the hidden garden, well must say it is 'hidden right now'... Tell Kel I know there are 4 chairs in that hidden garden but I'll hide 2 just so there is one for him and one for me...

Thank you..might leave it in the garden this fall, wonders what rain and snow can do, usually by spring it's rusted..that being said I bought a 3 ft metal turtle when I met Debbie in NewYork for our bi-annual craft show, done in metal rubbing and nuts/bolts and it's been 2 years and it's just started to rust, they may have sprayed it with lawyer though..

Thanks for the tip though!!

Jaye, my dear, you would not be out of the way for us...me and Kim. We will just have to work on this situation during the next year.

Beautiful pictures Betty..of course the subject matter helps.

Betty, yes things like Jaye mentioned does happen with swaps! We had a new member on one of the quilting threads who jumped right in and organized a swap. I was really excited as it was a different
approach. Someone took it upon themselves to offer much criticism and now the swap has been cancelled. I do find this sad and unbelievable as most everyone who had signed up have done swaps together for several years. I can't help but think it is someone who has never joined but is lurking and willing to offer advice when none was required.

Good morning fellow patriots and USA lovers!

Charleen, stupid me!!! I forgot to say that I love the poodle!!! It looks laborious!! Stain glass effects are always a best seller at craft shows.
Do you sign your art pieces? I can see you becoming famous with your claycreations.

Robin, thank you soooo much for that link. Yes, there are a million and one reasons why we love America, and we must agree that one important reason is FREEDOM.
All states have unique traits in scenery or culture. We have become a melting pot, but still you see traces of the original settlers' culture that warms your heart to know that they're allowed to live... especially our Native Indians.
Robin, I'm yet to see the sun blazing on the plains of Nevada or the Grand Tetons.. or the Niagara Falls. But I can show you the Bayous and make you feel at home among the Cajuns.

Or I can introduce to you N. Carolina's vinegared bbq, and the mind boggling shenanigans of our politicians... oops.. that's happening in all states, right? Lol!!

Betty, Kel loves metal art/sculpture. His favorite "metal worker" (as he called himself) is David Smith.
It would be wonderful if Kel could come along and stop in NY along the way and visit Smith's museum and residence.
You're seducing him with the ponds, secret garden and long conversations already!!! Lolol!!!! And you haven't offered butter tarts yet!!

Aww thanks Marion! We got one year to plan that, I may not stop for Mickey D's mocha, but I'll take a carton of milk with that lemon pound cake!
You know how things are with Kel's family. The last time Kel had a decent vacation was for BJ's gathering. He is due for one. Unless things change at home, it will be a solo trip for me again. He would love to see you and Judy again.

What you've said about the swap that got cancelled... that's truly ridiculous!! Either you join, or if you chose not to, then keep your opinions to yourself. There's only one rule to a swap.
Fulfill your obligations.
Not your membership tenure, not your location nor how well you can write!!!
You got me curious now. It's been a long time since I visited the sewing forum.

Crit, I've been here 5 years and there were maybe two plants on the side of the house so I've been working hard.

My neighbor across the street whom I visit quite often had a B & B and gorgeous gardens, I sooo envied her..wanted mine now just as you say..

Friday she walked over to sit in my gardens and now I'm the one who does the odd B&B..we had a good laugh over that.

Kids tease me, say there soon will be little grass to cut, not sure which is easier to maintain, grass or flowers..

My gardens though are not manicured but has the wild look, more english country I would say.

Been sitting outside this afternooon, made food for 10 when I am the only one here so best I have my own little picnic..now if I can only NOT burn the steak!

While I wait perhaps I'll go out and photo specific flowers just to show you how much beauty there is, don't want anyone to think I'm boasting, just love to share my pretties...

My sentiments exactly, Betty.
We can't thank enough the sacrifices our service people and their families made so our daily lives will not be disrupted. It's already hard with the separation, yet having to defend our freedom on foreign soil.
We are fortunate that both our countries have never been invaded on a wide scale, but still have to remain alert for terrorists that can cause loss of innocent lives, and for that, we thank the other govt. security agencies for fighting that war at home.
Thank God, that Canada is working hand in hand with USA when it comes to border patrols and sharing of intelligence.

Happy 4th everyone!! Lift your glass to our country, and may we enjoy home peace for many, many years.

All my plants are in pots nothing in the ground yet. It's too hot and I have to get a truck load of soil to plant anything, hopefully next weekend I can get that delivered. I did have a cute little surprise a couple of mornings ago. He was just so cute I had to take his pic. He sat on my rocker on the front porch for another hour afterwards and I sat in a different chair just so I could watch him.

However, I did take swim breaks along the way. :-) Was nice being home by myself for a change, just doing what I want to do, when I want to do it. Still have a few things to do, going to add some more dirt to them and put mulch on them. But, it's 103* so guess I'll stay inside for a while. DH will be home soon. My back got some sun, even with spf 70 sunscreen on. I'll have DH rub some aloe gel on it when he gets home. That always helps.

Robin, Sis Kathy, this summer is truly a terrible summer for bronchitis, pneumonias.. any respiratory ailments.
I'm trying to heal from bronchitis and a bad sinus infection.
The smoke that hung over our area from nearby county wild fires didn't help much.

Betty, your gardens are soooo beautiful. I too am not a fan of a manicured garden.

Patti, I can testify to Betty's numerous talents. I am in posession of her artwork, which includes a beautiful birdhouse and a chalkboard. Besides her gardening skills, she can quilt, sew, knit, paint and do woodwork!
The only thing this lady won't do, is cook!! Smart woman!!

Am hoping to do so, only thing that might prevent it is the office move..about same time we are moving the Toronto, Barrie and Hamilton offices..why he'd chose to do all 3 at same time is beyond me!!!

Today I advertised for sale of office furniture in 3 publications and I'm in charge of that and telephone installations..the moves will be left to the men..

Will know closer to end of July!!! If I don't make it, be sure that I will drive over one weekend just to visit with you...

Betty, I do my nails with acrylic paints :) it only takes so long because each coat of paint has to be totally dry before you do the next step...

I do two or three coats of white,(both hands), then blue "field", then add the red stripes, then the white dots (stars), and have to be sure the one hand is all dry before doing same steps on other hand...
long long ago...I was in a car accident, did nerve damage to my whole right side, I was right handed...could not hold a pen / pencil...taught my self to print with left hand...was not very pretty, but it was readable. so I then figured I could maybe do some painting with left hand also...hence, flags painted on fingernails of both hands, just kept practicing!!!!

I can be VERY STUBBORN !!! sometimes it results in good things LOL

My post went to cyber grave :D

Betty, I hope your box will get to you soon!!! That Canadian friend finally got her card, and it took a month!!!! Hope it won't be the same for you.
I understand that the 'strike' by Canada Post, backfired, or are they allowed to work overtime to catch up with deliveries?
Anyway, I am so glad you're not depending on the box, since you've already had a well adorned RWB corner :-)

Thunder, did you paint your toenails the same way? Wouldn't that be cool to see RWB peeking out from your sandals?

Sales have already begun and I'm collecting for 2013!!!! LOL!!

2012?? what happened to that year or is that box full and you are now moving on to 2013

Kyle my grandson was over last night, bought a snowmachine and while showing me photo's he had a snowmachine done up in RWB for me to see...I'll have to get him to send me the photo so I can show you someone else who is truly proud to live in USA!!

Post office are not working overtime and they are working to weight..which means no extra's being taken for delivery..I'm in no hurry for my box, you could have kept it and brought it at the reunion in 2012..lol..one way to make sure you get here.

OMG when I turned 60 all the girls on the Best/Worse/What did I learn thread, unbeknown to me had planned for months. we kept saying sure wish they could be with me..lo and behold a box that would hold almost a refrigerator was delivered. layer upon layer, upon layer

Judy was the organizer..what a job she did..to this day I still show the planning manual..the canvas that was painting with a large table, so laughing looks like Lord and the last supper with me and everyone around the table, will have to show you that..there was everything from decorations for the house, to a crown and decorations for me..to a zillion things..I was told I could not open it until there was a camera, someone to take photo's and a step by step thread post..

Best thing that someone ever did for me

We had a family cookout this weekend and my sister in law (who always has fancy painted nails) had RWB...they were so cute. Then when we were in the pool and she was on one of the floats, I saw her toenails were the same way! lol

Cool tractor. I see big round hay bales painted up with the colors around here.

I have a great "name your price" store. Got some cool Easter stuff for 90% off this year for my next years box.

Betty ... what a "wonderful,/b>" thing for you!!! You are truly loved by one and all. That is just too cool !!!!!

We finally got a touch of rain. Not near enough but I thank God that he sent us a little something. Still asking for more that we need so bad. Had 1/4" yesterday and we have a cell over us right now that is dropping some raindrops on us! Still in burn ban and excessive heat warnings. Boy is it going to be humid today. Still going to have 100+ for the next 7 days, but it is only 79* right now.

Faye, great idea!! While we're waiting on Betty's reveal, let's play a game.
First correct guess of ONE item in her much anticipated RWB box that no one has, that patriot will receive a surprise from me.

Betty you are so loved!! You deserve all the smiles and oohs and aaahs as you are such an earthly angel yourself! Am so happy for you.

(Psst.. Sistah Judy... you forgot to include me in the surprise!)

Patti, WM lately had not made offers like that on their seasonal stuffs! They used to. One year, I was lucky enough to be at one WM when it had a surprise announcement of ALL toys at 75% off. It wasn't advertised, so there was no mad rush, and Kel and I practically bought toys that last 2 Christmases and a few b'days!!
We grabbed all the Bratz we could!

It was 102 yesterday with a severe thunderstorm that I couldn't get online.

Amended to note the right box!
