Found you all, gabbing while I take a rest...

Hmmm will have to go find that link or did Judy already do it..need a pick me up after all the office slugging I've done in the move, even filing cabinets falling on me..yikes...sooo tonight I'll go back and read that exciting time in my life..reading it you can just feel the hype that was going on..

Lordy, think they even did a search to find out who my neighbors were so they could call to make sure I got the box...lol

Now that's something right..

another load to new office, gab after.

Toilet paper it will be...

Betty, if you found that roll, hold it for next year's gathering, pls.
We'll need it to wipe our tears!

Patti, Synda got a flag, think it's from Judy. Try again, and toilet paper's thought of already.. sigh...

Yep Susie.
If you guess something that's not found in anyone else's box, and Betty certainly has the thing you guessed, you've won.

It was mentioned in the previous thread, and up above, one guess only.

The prize will be something you can use ^_^

Just had to come and say I was thinking of you all yesterday.

One of the largest Elvis festivals happens in my neck of the woods every July and I was lucky enough to attend again..yesterday left home at 7am for the Gospel Breakfast and stayed right until the crowning of 2011 Elvis..day of pure enjoyment..lordy, didn't get home until almost midnight..think it worked out to 16 1/2 hrs.

Anyway, I had shivers...

One of the Elvis's did an American tribute, ended the song with his cape draped with American Eagle and on the back screen showboard was the Canadian Flag flying high along with American Flag..just think I caught him when Canadian Flag was on and he was paying tribute with his cape.

The crowd stood up in honor of both countries...

Then came another, Chilean Miner #12 Edison Penna, who entertained the other miners with his Elvis singing sang for us...omg crowds went wild...

A grant was given to bring him to the festival..also visited Niagara Falls, etc.

Yikes, mind was reeling when I saw them size of the box, then came a wave of being overwhelmed, for someone to spend the postage our dear Jaye spent, not even considering what was it it, I started to cry!! The kindness was deeply felt.

LindaKay, haven't done well with my morning glories, let's hope next year with getting these RWB seeds that they will grown and be around to welcome you all...

Now how exciting was this swap..the one I most look forward to all year round..

Now when you were all guessing about what could be in the box or wasn't in a box, I took one guess which was way off target...

Thought there might be a RWB certificate saying I wasn now American by Honorary Declaration...was going to bring it when I cross the border to show those guys checking my status out...yep..I'm 1/2 American..lol that's ok, I'm sure they see how many times I cross over and seeing as they don't give me the what for, must mean they already KNOW you've made me so...

Well, other than saying I feel very blessed to have such friends, Jaye/Kel you've made me feel supper special for that I'm grateful (wipe a tear)

GOD BLESS AMERICA and it's PEOPLE!!!

So.. Joyce..you're committed to next year's?

I'm so laughing with happiness that you all had great boxes and are willing to take the RWB plunge next year!! Imagine, RWB is perennial and so many NYPS all around;)

If you should see my smile Betty, you would know how please I am that you are indeed happy with your surprise.
I can proudly say that when I pack each item, I know you will be thinking of your other American family, and that's us.

My heart drop when you adored Thunder's painted nails. Oh boy! I bet your eyes went wide when you saw those nail polish! Now can we consider that as 'paint'? If so.. Kathy won!!

The plastic bag holder bag was purchased when I was at Cookie's last year. :D Think Judy might recognise it!

To proof to you that I did shop this year, the two beach towels have "2011" printed on them ^_^ See... I did get you something fresh!! Lol!!!
You still hadn't guess what Kel chose. He's a flashy man, and it's that hat thingythatlights. Guess what? I'm fortunate to find that hat windchime to complement that! Ooops.. found it this year at the "name yer price store"!!

The fabric was a lucky guess. Just like we can't find Canadian fabric here, I thought you could use some RWB for future swap blocks;) Be perfect for binding, like Thunder suggested.

Good Lord, Marion.. I just realised that I'm the last one to get the box out!!!! Hmmm... actually I should thank Canada Post for allowing me to finish the runner!!

Thank you all for joining this swap. Thank you NEWBIES for taking the risk. I hope you all return next year!!

Betty, I must be psychic. You were posting that you'll love for Kel and you to be in your secret garden and just exchange minds.
Well, maybe that's why I packed the two plates and cups? How eery is that!! BTW, Kel would greatly enjoy being in the company of the Great Betty.

OK you guys, you've created a monster...

Bought a linoleum Friday morning as I decided I needed a new floormat for my back deck..forgot about all the humidity but did end up finishing it, 6 coats of flecto finish and it's ready for the back deck

It is 6' x 8' piece, decided because much of the back deck has red and white that I'd include it..checkerboard squares..side designs in tan..painting it, looked at it, and just didn't have pizzazz...

guess what color it is now?????

Sounds great Betty. You DO have the spirit.

Some may see this on another thread, and I'm sorry if you do, but:
On a sad note, I lost my best gardening friend this morning ... Polly. She had been sick since Friday. Went to the animal emergency room Saturday and back to my vet this morning. It wasn't 2 hours after I dropped her off they called to tell me they had lost her. They resusitated her once, but couldn't get her back the 2nd time. Blood tests showed stuff all over the charts from too low to too high. Kidneys were all but shut down and her heart just gave out. She would of been 8 in October. Didn't know if she had gotten heat exhaustion or what. She stayed in the house and had a doggy door to go in and out, but if I was outside, she was there with me. Several times I had to lock her in to make her stay inside. I brought her home and my DH dug a nice grave for her in this rock hard dry ground that we have. Every time I look out my back window or go to the back yard I will see it and think of her. Polly-Wog, Polly-Wog Dog, Polly-Wolly Doodle, Little Fat Dog... RIP my dear little fur baby. See the heart on her side? That is how big her heart was!!!!!!! The little grandkids could waller her all over and she just loved it She WILL be missed!

So sad to hear you lost your Polly, so hard to lose our furry friends. I was beginning to worry about my Molly, who is 8 or 9 (got her from the pound and they said she was 2). I have a doggie door too, but if I'm outside she is too. Well, just too hot for me so now she is laying beside my chair.

Felling your pain, Crit...I lost my Chinook just a few weeks ago, He would have been 7 in September...sometimes I think I hear him barking...It has been very "strange"...He was always at my feet...or at the doorway of the sewing room...under the desk, when ever I was on the computer...yup feel your pain.

Ok, went shopping today, actually just goofing around and what did I do but stumple onto some more rw&b marked down...heavens I am going to have this box done and ready to go a year ahead of time...wanna bet I still get it mailed late...rofl Computers are great but the checkers "ring" up everything so fast you can't see if you got the discount or not, so I checked everything off in the parking lot and I knew it, one of the items didn't get marked down! Hey I did get some socks made in America! I was so happy, said they were made out of bamboo (bet that produces a strange picture in your mind). This weekend is our sales tax free weekend for (school stuff), course you don't have to be in school, they call it that because of the time of the year.

I don't think you'll close that box, yet. Who are you kidding.. you're just like most of us here.. keep adding stuff till the box starts to groan!! Lol!!
Socks made of bamboo? Must be from the leaves and not the bamboo itself. Oh well, fiber is fiber right? If only technology can create gold out of sand, our govt. won't be in so much debt!!

It's tax free weekend in South Carolina too, and it benefits us to live in a bordertown. Alas, we don't have any kids, but DH, Kel is happy to get some sketch pads tax free!!
Think it's next weekend for N. Carolina.. we'll be in need of new ink for the printer :D

Crit you new sweetie is a cutie. Altho it will never replace your Polly, Bobbi has found a new place in your heart and Bobbi is so lucky to have found you...

One time my Mom set an extra plate at the table, when we came in we were confused, when we asked who that was for she said "Well 'Not Me' of course", then we all got in trouble for the breaking of the nic nac by bouncing the ball in the house...if you can't get the one who did it, gettem all...rofl.

My Mom was just full of stuff tho and this was the best, I had forgotten all about it, my Mom always worked (I was a latch key kid long before we had a name) and she had asked my older sister (7 years older than me) to do something after school (don't remember what it was), course my sister did it like any good teenager 1/2 way...boy Mom was hot, so we sit down to eat and my sisters plate was all prepared for her, half cooked mashed potatoes, half cooked fried chicken, Carol looked up at Mom like what the heck...Mom's reply was how do you like a 1/2 a____ job... I about choked... Course my sister stormed off to her room, but it did make an impression on me and my sister...no more 1/2 jobs...

ROFLOL. I think that was so clever. Wish I could have thought like that. Funny thing is, my DD who will be celebrating the 28th anniversary of her 21st birthday (how is that for not actually telling her age LOL) still bugs me in that she never closed a cupboard door. Did as a child and has continued. No clue why. I finally have given up after all these years and just come behind and shut them. Over all, she is very good..."every mother crow thinks her chick is the blackest".

As for doors not closing.. we don't do that around here anymore.. you guess it, too many cats, MaidM!

We were good kids, so not much to report on shenanigans when I was small.
But I had very stubborn god daughter who always threw her booksack on the kitchen floor when she got home. (She lived with me for a year). Tired of telling her to pick it up.. one day I threw the sack into the trash can! Told her since she treated it like trash, that's where it should be.
Since that day, she never failed to immediately put her booksack on her bedroom desk.

I got to collect Chrismassy RWB Thunder.

Ashley-Marie is 19 now Maid M. She learnt fast to behave around me.
Her problem stems from a passive mum and a non existent father. Guess, she had to show off in front of her younger siblings and hence forever pushing the boundaries.
When I moved here, and could no longer take care of her, her mum had to enroll her in a private Christian academy. It would have been cheaper if Ashley would have agreed to come with me.. wonder why... lol!!

happ...a thing like that happened to my ex's grandpa's family. Gr8 g'ma had made pies and put them on the window sill to cool. When she came back a while later, part of one was gone. She asked all the kids (there were 7 of them too) and no one would confess, so she was going to whip the lot of them. Finally one of the boys confessed so only he got a whippin'. A little while later, g'pa came back from where ever he had been working and told her that he had eaten some of it when he came by the house and no one was around, and he was hungry. Boy did gr8 g'ma feel bad, 'cause the one who fessed up just did it to save the others. lol The story about you sister is funny!!! Wish I would of thought of that when my kids were young!
My DH does the not closing door thing too. He also will start telling me a story then say "and", and quit talking. Drives me nuts. Finally I say "and what????" and he snaps back to. lol

I told my DD & DS one day to clean up their rooms. After about an hour they came out and told me it was all done. I went to the door of my son's room and looked in. Very nice I said. Looked into DD's room and said very nice. Then told them "One more thing". Opened DS's closet and as stuff fell out told him to put that stuff away "where it goes"! Then to DD's room and removed the blankets she had neatly stuffed along the bottom of her bed and said, now pull all that stuff out and put it "where it belongs". They just looked at me with their mouths open. How did you know? they asked. I told them I was a kid once and didn't like to clean my room either. LMAO. I went to the living room, poured a glass of tea and an hour later they told me they were done. They did it right that time!

PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!!! Praise God! Praise GOD!!!!!! We are getting some MUCH NEEDED RAIN. We are 22" behind for the year and things are burning up with the lack of water and 100*+ and 110*+ temps we have had this summer. I think I heard we have had 38 days like this already. Our normal for the year is 11 of 100+. Even some of my plants that I kept watered died just from the heat. I lost my Polly dog due to heat stress, even though she was a house dog, and only outside when I went out. :-( Temps today and tomorrow are only 90* and in the 90's all week. What a relief!

Thank you Betty!! It's a beautiful tree, makes me feel so proud this morning! I know Christmas is year round, but that RWB tree should be up year round!!
All we need is a Santa draped in a USA flag.

Lord knows we need all kind of help now!!

Thanks Betty.

Thank you EVERYONE for a grand 2011 celebration and playing along the waiting game!
Thank you so much for fulfilling your obligations and especially in making your buddies happy. I mean it.
Not one can say they had a disappointing box ^_^

Now, if only the 2 political parties can be motivated to get along well like us, and understand that it's not their own individual agendas or the lobbyists that are paying them, but collective PRIDE in USA that will repair this great country.
RWB should run in their veins as these colors run in ours.

That said, no matter what party you may belong to, please, SUPPORT our men and women who are laying their lives so our daily lives wouldn't be interrupted.

God Bless America!

God Bless America!!!! well said Jaye

Got to tell you girls, I got the box that keeps on giving..

Finally had enough energy (Judy and Steve wore me out last weekend) to go get my box of goodies and ooohhh and ahhhhh, the came the material Jaye had sent, told me there was another surprise within my surprise...

Got to tell you, Jaye went beyond the call of healthy swapping..I'm totally in awe, overwhelmed to say the least..

Jaye, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for not only including me, a Canadian gal in your USA RWB swap but showing me how lucky I am to have friends such as you all across the border...

Hoping you are all saving your pennies for the Canadian get-together next year..will be just a tad before July 1st and July 4th but we'll celebrate none the less with pride the United States Of America

Guess you all want to see my goodies...

yes happ, we have been getting some nice rains every night since Monday. 1/2" here 1/4" there. Have gotten about 1 1/2" so far this week.

Our State Office in Oklahoma City lost power and phones Monday night. We haven't had our internet at work since then. It finally came back up about 2:00 Thursday afternoon.

That is beautiful Betty!

Betty, I was hoping you'd see that panel first before you get to the completed runner. But the joke's on me :D I folded the two materials too well!!!
You can do anything with it, and the other fabric could be for the backing. I think it's so pretty as an informal flag.
No way you'd be excluded in MY swaps, unless it's plant related.

Alright Sis!! Your family and friends won't doubt that plaque at all!! Lolol!! They'd bow down to your 'better ideas'!
Tell Kaden, to send boy things, I got to have a boy. He needs to come over here :P

It's more than lovely, going to make a lap throw for the white wicker rocking chair on back deck..yes, this morning I did some measuring..have enough to make it work..

Calling for rain on Sunday..one just never knows what I'll get into..seeing as my radiator needs replacement I'll be using this weeks budget on it so will be housebound..lol

Came at a great time..between that and the last 5 blocks I need to get done there will go the weekend..

What a grand idea there Betty!! A throw for the wicker chair. Your home should be featured in BHG's July publication next year.

I'm still celebrating my b'day though it's over 2 weeks ago.
Yesterday, I had 2 packages from France, mailed 5 days ago.
Today, the mailman just handed me a box from Singapore, mailed on the 5th of this month! Plus these boxes went through customs.

Now, why oh why does it take longer from here to Canada??
Betty, you need to move here!

Our Wal-Mart stores never did do away with all the fabric. I used to look at fabric a lot when my mom and I shopped, she was very obsessed with fabric and never stopped sewing. Now, I don't even bother to look, some of the prints are so pretty too.

Sailor put in for leave to come home for Thanksgiving, don't know if he got approved yet?? and he will also be asking to come home for Christmas / New years :) hopefully the navy will think that is a good thing to do ??

Thank a Soldier today!!! and when ever you see them!!!

cute and quick little story...

I was wearing a hat with an Army insignia on it, and a young man came up to me and said "you know a rak?" pronounced rock...stands for Rakkasan one of the units my son has been in... I said Yes, my son..he then proceeded to tell me he had been a rak...got out due to injuries...well I teared up, and reached over and gave him a great big hug, and said Thank you very much, and I wish you well...he said thanks and walked away...a short time later his wife/girlfriend came back and said thank you, for saying thanks to him...you will never know how good that made him feel !!!!!

you may feel a little uncomfortable the first few times you walk up to a stranger and reach for his hand, or give a hug...but I have found that they REALLY appreciate it!!!! and you will feel so good, when you see their smile...they gave for you...give a little back..it is awesome...

Whenever I see someone wearing a hat or vest from one of the military branches, I always go to them and thank them for their service to our country. They are kind of taken aback at first, like 'how does this woman know that?????' lol then say Thank You. I often wonder how long it takes them to realize what they are wearing that tipped me off.

hats are a great "give away" that is often how I see a veteran I just ask?? what unit? is that an Airborne symbol? or some such??? then they tell me and I say "thanks"... I work in a retirement community, so there are a lot of veterans. and some of those old guys just love to have a bit of conversation!!! also helps that I sell Ammunition!!!! lots of vets shooting guns these days!!
