Here's the scarecrow I made today, Luau Larry, all ready to hit the links. Oh no, looks like our intrepid hero is already on the course and in the rough. Go back to gardening Larry, your golf game is horrible!

Pretty cool!! I love luau Larry. Will you change his clothes with the season? I see little statues on people's front lawns here, and they change the clothes and scenery to match the seasons and holiday. For easter, one lady dresses her dog statue up in an easter bunny outfit and make an easter egg tree and a basket of eggs. For summer, she sets the dog in a little kiddie pool, put shorts and a tropical shirt on it and a snorkel and sunglasses. It's fun to drive by and see what new outfit the dog will wear from week to week.

Did you know that you can make stiff clothes by dipping them in Elmer's glue? They'll last longer in the weather too. You can buy the glue in gallon jugs even.

That Elmer's glue really comes in handy. Gallons of glue, wow could I get in trouble. My mother used to decoupage with Elmer's glue mixed with water, don't think she ever did buy any Modge Podge.

    BC,

I have a blog @ http://mrbsgarden.blogspot.com/ where you can keep up to date on what Larry is up to, as he will definitely be dressing for the season, as well as for major holidays. Larry's a tightwad and buys all his clothes @ thrift stores for $3 or less, so weathering isn't an issue.

It's now September and while my thoughts are turning to my winter garden full of veggies and blooms, Larry, like many men from coast to coast, is preparing for a different ritual of Fall. No not football, but tracking elusive prey in the great outdoors. That's right, it's American Sportsman Larry, out in the field looking for game. Chuck's decided the safest perch is on top of Larry's head, and it also gives him a front row seat to the action.

It is fun, but also a lot of work trying to come up with new outfits while trying to keep the cost under $20 so my wife doesn't get too mad. Luckily there are several thrift stores nearby and I have a fertile imagination. Since he goes through 2 outfits in an average month, you can see where the difficulty lies. He goes through more costume changes than Cher does during a concert!!

I can't post comments to your blog while I live in Korea, so I figured I could post here. To keep cats from using Larry's new bulb bed as a potty; tear orange peels into ½" pieces and scatter them over the mulch. Cats hate the smell, I guess. It worked very well for my under-the-bedroom-window! neighborhood potty-spot. I had bought stuff at Lowes and Wal Mart that was supposed to work and it never did keep them away. It didn't take too long to cover the whole bed even though it was just an orange or 2 a day and I am still surprised that it worked so well.

Laying chicken wire flat on the ground keeps cats out of the flower bed. With the wire down they don't like to walk on it, much less scratch around. The cats will find another place to go quickly and their habit is broken.

Larry and Froggy have just way too much fun!
I too made a scarecrow for Halloween back when we bought our house out of the hedges I am trying to discourage-I will post his picture when I get titles, not just numbers, on the JPEGs. He filled out my Sweetie's plaid shirt and jeans and sat with his bottle of
Plant Food Brew, which label I designed and stuck on a beer bottle.

gee- i have no idea which image from Halloween 2010 I am sending, but I can't remove it. oops
