I live in the NC Blue Ridge foothills. Potted a pineapple top from the store and it grew well in my bathroom for > 1 year. Planted it outdoors in spring this year and it has not thrived. Summer here has been really hot, >100 for many days in a row. I grew ornamental and store bought pineapples for years in south Florida. Haven't had my soil here in NC tested yet, but I thought the pineapple would do well since lemon grass, Thai basil, and other Asian veg do great here.
