Perhaps because now that I am truly old my taste buds are worn out. It's either this or the new species of tomatoes and especially watermelons DO NOT taste the same. At first I thought, wonderful, seedless watermelon. But they have almost no flavor. I can only guess, but it must be a part of the process to make them seedless that makes them tasteless. The same thing with perfect shaped fruit and vegetables. Beautiful to look at but a distinct loss of flavor. Is there any way to get seeds for the old fashioned vegetables and fruit?
