Time to start a new thread. The thread we just finished contains some terrific shots. Here is a link back to it if you missed part of it: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1210279/

We went to Baltimore on Monday to visit my mother in law. I took my camera along and here are a few of her birds.

I particularly enjoyed watching this tufted titmouse, who was much more aggressive than those in my yard. Here you see him coming into the frame at top right, ready to chase the nuthatch.

Great photos in that last thread. Lily, congratulations on two beautiful lifers!

Sorry I've gotten behind. I've been busy with a special hummer at my house and I'm waiting for more info before sharing it.

Meanwhile, not near as pretty as Lily's lifers, but here's mine from yesterday, an immature Lark Sparrow that Resin confirmed for me.

Thank you Cousin Dave for a great start to a new thread. Love those shots of the Titmouse and Nuthatch too. I see lots of birds down here are showing signs of molting too. Some of them really looking ragged. It's so nice to see Great Crested Flycatcher, I saw them but once or twice in early spring, but that was it. Duc, thanks. Love your pic. of the Oriole and humminbird sharing a feeder. Nice catch Carla.

I was surprised to see the hummingbirds continuing to come to the feeder until dark, despite the strong winds and heavy rain. It is a wonder they didn't hurt their beaks, being blown about as they were. I had planned to take the feeder down but couldn't bear to since they seemed so determined to keep coming. Besides, I didn't want to get all wet.

Here are two, just before dark.

But this morning the storm was gone; no wind and the sky even displayed tiny patches of blue. By noon the sky was completely blue. Here is a shot I took this morning, probably one of the hummers you see in the previous picture. This was taken with the 100mm macro lens, from a distance of about 15 inches (through the window, of course).

I know this is a bird forum, but I forgot which one to go to identify this animal, is it a garter snake or something more dangerous? I took this close a picture and it did not seem to be agressive, so I am thinking it might be a garter, if so, he can eat all the crickets he can catch!

Lily, to answer your question on the white pelicans, some of them are here year round depending on how much bait fish are in the lake and we have read that the fish are just now beginning to show up. That means we'll be seeing more pelicans, egrets and herons-yahoo! Sorry I can't say exactly where these pelicans have been.
