Hope everyone in the East made it through the hurricane alright. We're still having strong wind gusts but so far everything is good.

| I was surprised to see the hummingbirds continuing to come to the feeder until dark, despite the strong winds and heavy rain. It is a wonder they didn't hurt their beaks, being blown about as they were. I had planned to take the feeder down but couldn't bear to since they seemed so determined to keep coming. Besides, I didn't want to get all wet.
Here are two, just before dark.

| Lily, to answer your question on the white pelicans, some of them are here year round depending on how much bait fish are in the lake and we have read that the fish are just now beginning to show up. That means we'll be seeing more pelicans, egrets and herons-yahoo! Sorry I can't say exactly where these pelicans have been.
The berries are beginning to turn colors on my Virginia Creeper and this Calif. Thrasher is taking advantage early.

| Great pics, all! I haven't been on DG much recently, nor have I been taking any bird pics in this triple digit heat. I'm heading back to the mountains this w/e. The San Juans of SW Colorado for 6 days and then a couple of nights in Santa Fe on the way home. Maybe I'll see something interesting out there.
Here's a ringneck from the archives. I processed it with Photomatix Pro and gave it a painterly effect.

| Wonderful, wonderful photos everyone. So enjoyed seeing all your different birds. I don't have many different birds now. The orioles have left. I saw one humming bird this morning, a tiny Caliope, still tasting the flowers and checking to see that there is still nectar in the feeder. thanks everyone for sending along the different bird photos.
