You can rub geranium leaves on yourself while you are working in the yard, and you won't be bothered by them either.

It works for me, they hate the smell.

Great testimony!
I've tried that with catnip leaves, and may get some benefit.
The oils in the geranium and citronella do seem to confuse the mosquitoes locating senses, but only if appilied to the skin.
