Let's see YOUR pictures of hostas beginning with "Lakeside"!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Lots of hostas beginning with "L". For today, let's focus on the "Lakeside" group.

I have several but there are many which I don't have.

We'll start with 'Lakeside Cranberry Relish' - this picture taken July 29. This was new to me spring 2009. In addition to the attractive leaves, there is a reddish cast to the petioles and flower scapes.

'Lakeside Cupcake' taken July 8. this plant was new to me spring 2007 and I really can't figure it out. The leaves this year are huge, but there are fewer than there were last year. I think I'll give it until next year to shape up or it's out.

I did catch this view of a 'Lakeside Cupcake' bud nestled amongst the leaves. Late July.

'Lakeside Elfin Fire' - a fast grower for a white mini hosta. A couple of years ago I divided it up to make a border, but 'Bridegroom' above it is threatening to swamp it. I think I'll put it back together next year into one clump. I've had it since spring 2007 and this shot was taken late June.

'Lakeside Mom' - new to me spring 2009, it is doing very well indeed although it did not flower this year. This picture from July 29. I am hoping to eventually have seeds from this one.

'Lakeside Shoremaster' experienced good growth this past year. Mine was new spring 2007 and this picture was taken June 29.

MY last Lakeside hosta is 'Lakeside Zinger'. This pic also taken June 29, but I've had the plant since spring 2006. this is a fast grower which forms a very tight mound. When I divided it last spring for a plant sale, I teased the entire mound apart and got many more plants than I expected. The remainder, I replanted in several groups which gives the effect of a larger plant than it really is.

Irregularity in my 'Lakeside Zinger'. It has developed this interesting eye and I'm keeping a good watch on it. It looks a bit like 'Lakeside Zing Zang' but we'll see. http://www.ilovehostas.net/lakeside-zing-zang.html

Irene - where did you find 'Lakeside Paisley Print'? I have to get one of those.

Ottawa, Canada

ViolaAnn, I got two at Budd Gardens @ $10.00 each.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

How'd I miss them? I wonder if they have any left. Maybe I should take a ride over there tomorrow.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I got by Budd's and got the last LPP they had. :-) 20% off; so only $8. Also picked up a 'Cherry Tart' and a 'Charlotte's Web'. All 20% off regular price.

Ottawa, Canada

ViolaAnn, good for you. I got to the 20% off sale and bought some that I'd been wanting- 'Grand Canyon' and 'Cup of Grace' as well as others. I didn't buy 'Charlotte's Web' because it lookes a lot like 'Dorset Clown' (at least to me).

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I trust you have 'Dorset clown'? I don't and came close to buying one, but most of them had limited streakiness. Then I saw the 'Charlotte's Web' which has been on my wish list.

Oquawka, IL(Zone 5a)

My 'Dorset Clown' is a darker green with streaking. 'Charlotte's Web' looks more like 'Sparkle' to me.

'Lakeside Dragonfly' was destroyed by hail 2 year ago, and still hasn't recovered. It is still less than 1 ft across. Must still be pouting!

'Lakeside Beach Captain' looks like a smaller version of 'Lakeside Shoremaster', don't you think?

'Lakeside Blue Jeans' is a pretty blue! Mine isn't filling out, but I still like the color.

Wow! Is it REALLY that purple? 'Lakeside Dragonfly' is a pretty plant. I hope it starts growing well again for you.
