Lots of hostas beginning with "L". For today, let's focus on the "Lakeside" group.
I have several but there are many which I don't have.
We'll start with 'Lakeside Cranberry Relish' - this picture taken July 29. This was new to me spring 2009. In addition to the attractive leaves, there is a reddish cast to the petioles and flower scapes.
'Lakeside Cupcake' taken July 8. this plant was new to me spring 2007 and I really can't figure it out. The leaves this year are huge, but there are fewer than there were last year. I think I'll give it until next year to shape up or it's out.
'Lakeside Elfin Fire' - a fast grower for a white mini hosta. A couple of years ago I divided it up to make a border, but 'Bridegroom' above it is threatening to swamp it. I think I'll put it back together next year into one clump. I've had it since spring 2007 and this shot was taken late June.
MY last Lakeside hosta is 'Lakeside Zinger'. This pic also taken June 29, but I've had the plant since spring 2006. this is a fast grower which forms a very tight mound. When I divided it last spring for a plant sale, I teased the entire mound apart and got many more plants than I expected. The remainder, I replanted in several groups which gives the effect of a larger plant than it really is.
ViolaAnn, good for you. I got to the 20% off sale and bought some that I'd been wanting- 'Grand Canyon' and 'Cup of Grace' as well as others. I didn't buy 'Charlotte's Web' because it lookes a lot like 'Dorset Clown' (at least to me).
