The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

Cutting for Stone

A Prayer For Owen Meany

Harry Potter Series

Shanna

Atlas Shrugged

The Good Earth

Dune

The Ice People

A Land Remembered

Not all "greats" but some entertaining, some attention holding, and some thought provoking or a mixture of each.

Only 10? LOL I mostly go for series.

Stephen King and Peter Straub, The Talisman.
James Rollins, Excavation. All his books are worth reading.
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, Riptide. The best pirate treasure story I've read.
Joan D. Vinge, Psion and Cat'spaw.
Orson Scott Card, Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow.
Anything by Terry Brooks. He has a few series.
C.J. Cherryh, The Snow Queen series, the Fortress series.
Marc Scott Zicree and Barbara Hambly, Angelfire series.
Markus Zusak, The Book Thief.

If you like any of these, I can list more.

I forgot another really great tale. The Glass Castle. True story. What a life this kid had. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, stamp or clap.

Titles always slip my mind but I can remember authors...

As someone said above-anything by James Rollins. I've read all of them. My number one of his is Amazonia.

Anything by Janet Evonavich. You will laugh out loud. I swear.

Elizabeth Peters. She has several series but my favorite are the Amilia Peabody books

Good luch and I think this is a great question. I would never have thought about a thread to help me find new great books. Robyn
