    This one will be pretty hard. I only took one photo, but I'm going to show the cropped and the uncropped versions. Sadly, his head is turned away. I'm hoping body shape, coloring and environment will be enough. This was at Sylvan Lake in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

    They're a very distinctive shape! The only bird it could be mistaken for is Common Sandpiper, which is Spotted's closely related Old World equivalent.
