It truly is a fun swap, thanks putting it together Bev.

OK, now that we have fixed the accidently cut water pipe (did I mention I got very WET while we were trying to find the emergency shut off and were without ANY water in the house until my husband could get it FIXED?? LOL), and the renter has arrived to occupy the studio that is NOT complete, I can post!!

Bev, my favorite fabric was the oversized piece with the BIG skeltons! Sooooo cute! all the charms were perfect but was my favorite of the charms you sent. THANKS!
Elaine, the skeltons & witches in bright boxes, how funny!!! and thank you so much for the tractors, that gorgeous orangish/rust color leaf with gold accent. THANKS!
Karen sent me this adorable TRACTOR print, chickens, and a FQ of a rich bird print.

Truly, I got an amazing collection of charms that I can't wait to start using!

ROFLOL, Betty you aren't the only one guilty of that!!! I am much worse since I have moved from Gainesville as my friend isn't around to "encourage" me not to start another project before I finish one already in progress. Think I will need to have her come stay a week with me to motivate me.

Barb, I love the charms you have pictured. The colors look so rich.

We're fine and the renter is very nice. For now we are just having him eat with us etc until we have his space finished. He is a very nice man and willing worker. I expect we will get along great. He likely will help me paint his studio this weekend!! I've taking a chain saw to 3 bushes to provide parking for him after work tonight (I hope).

    Morning all...

Thunder the pattern photo doesn't do them justice, not the nicest of angels but it reflects the primitive aspect of the quilt..bought embroidery thread for the hair..with cooking Thanksgiving dinner today not sure how much sewing I'll get done, was hope'ing to have the applique done so I can at least sit while the turkey is cooking and do the embellishments of each..just finished the 9 leaf applique..I'm hoping to have most of the cut outs to send your way..that's the easy part of the quilt..lol

Thanks everyone. Astrid, no I didn't make baby quilts for the 2 girls. My MIL always crocheted a blanket for each new grandchild and for some reason, in later years, she gave me the one she had used to do my son's blanket. So when the first grandchild was on it's way, I kept the tradition by crocheting an afghan with the same hook used for her Dad. Same for the second one and will do yet again for #3. I was living in Gainesville at the time and my 2 best friends made quilts for the girls. I am working on some for them now that they are older.

Yesterday was supposed to be the only nice day all week, but the rain started early and continued most of the day. I did quite a bit of sewing and embroidering so I'm getting caught up on requests, until I gain access to more of my patterns. Difficult having your "stuff" in two places that are far apart. I know i have 3 cat designs in CB. Just purchased a new vintage kitty, and appliqued calico cat with a cute bow around its neck. I also bought the companion gingham dog. I'm going to make a set of 12 combining them (The dogs and cats) using the mirror image. They should look really cute in a toddler scrap quilt . I use white tone on tone scraps for the background, any size pieces or patterns just to give me a foundation. Thanks, Barb for the gingham fabric.

Our weather is getting cooler, each day. I'm watching for flakes and praying I don't get a respiratory germ drop on by. Mom had her flu shot yesterday and had a small growth frozen off her forehead. Then they stopped for groceries., she came home put her stuff away and took a long nap.

I hope to get there today or tomorrow at the latest. I'm sorry I haven't gotten there sooner but I'll still get them out in time. Rain is due here soon too so I best get going!!!!

Rain is due here this afternoon and it will be much welcomed!! Not only the rain but cooler weather--down in the 40's at night--love it! Getting off of the computer and making a fast trip to the store before they start as they are saying it will be heavy storms. Oh well, that will keep me inside and I can finish cutting all my swap items.

Mittsy, I think of you daily with your Mom.

Betty, I don't have a new machine I bought a Brother SE350 second hand on Craigs List. The very nice person I bought from not only delivered but sat for several hours showing me and helping me with how to download patterns. She also said I can call on her any time. It included PED Basic. Not real fancy but very adequate for my purposes.

Thunder that is great news! Glad to hear that. Maybe we can meet up briefly on Friday because our friends from Scotland want to see my father-n-laws mural that he had painted on his wall. Otherwise we won't be back that way until November, unless it changes again. I am now on a mission for browns, tans and off whites, because they'd like me to make them a nine patch and of course, I have no dull colors, lol...

Sounds like a nice machine..Every time I look at new ones I think because of the $$$ I'd be throwing good money away..my Janome 9000 does everything I need and if I would take the time to learn the scanner which designs I would be happy/happy..I should advertise to see if I can find someone who uses it so I can take lessons..maybe you can teach old dog new tricks

We FINALLY got home from the hospital. The surgery was more involved that then the orthopedic thought it would be and recovery will be MUCH longer. I'm terrified to leave Ben home tomorrow but he doesn't think he "needs" anyone here and I have be at work tomorrow. Worse, I'm on call for the next 3 days. Today would not be a good day to rate my satisfaction with my job.

The surgeon did a "revision" on the stump. They took "only skin" and other tissue, no bone but the stump was a mess of excess, this should make fit and stability much better for him.

I'll be praying for a short recovering and brighter future. My advice is to take one day at a time and on the bad days, just 15 minutes if that is all you can handle. Here's a visual for you and yours, .Picture yourselves in the center of a group hug with all of us holding hands and encircling you both. I have had some really bad days this summer and it helps to get me through them.

Okay, so I didn't make it to the post office yesterday--leaving to go within the next few minutes. Ladies, if there are some "odd" things included with your charms, it is just me clearing out pieces that aren't my normal types of fabric. Just hope I included something each of you can work with and enjoy.

Pat, sending my wishes with all the others for a speedy recovery. Agree with Mittsy regarding one day at a time and the 15 minutes on bad days. Always sending hugs to you both.

Mittsy, I so understand about your summer. Seems like there is much progress being made only the next day to have a huge set back. Sending a hug and prayers.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Marion while sitting in the office waiting room waiting for my DH to receive his pain shot, I started talking to another patient. He had been through everything that we are dealing with and suggested some reading material that his wife found on the internet. It's a book by Colvin about the addiction to pain medications. I started telling him about DH's personality change and he said he'd put his wife through the very same thing. He credits this doctor with saving him, I told him it's too bad there's not a support group for families going through this and that's when he suggested I try and get the book. I felt so much better after talking to him, he gave me hope that things can get better.

Interesting information Mittsy. Some information I wish I had had 8 yr. ago. Dealing with much the same with Mom now. We have been able to get the amount of morphine they were giving to her cut way back and other meds (limited Tylenol actually) given for pains. It seem to be working. Of course there is not much we can do with the pains associated with her age and unfortunately from the handling she receives from the CNAs. That is entirely another story.

Let me know more about the book please. Always thinking of you!.

This is another from the same series, I'm not thrilled with it as the colors are all wrong. My son in KY has bluebirds at his bird feeders and they do not look like this. I was given the kit ($39.99), came with a 3 1/2" floppy with the stitch outs and precut applique pieces, look like they were cut from iron on patches material. Directions were not good, and only a line drawing of finished work, no large color picture.

I have the unit (if what it is you are speaking of) from Walmart that you can dip your hands or your feet..nothing feels any better than that..certainly helps my hands..reminder to self, 'plug it in when you get home' lol

when you dip your hands you do it 2 or 3 times, each time you dip it in it feels hotter, hotter the better then hand in plastic bag, I put oven mitts on to keep the warmth longer..when finished the wax slips off like a glove, put it back into the unit and it melts back into liquid...if someone is there to put the plastic bag and mitts on, it's wonderful to sit back and have two hand toasty as can be..

I'm so glad you tried the wax and it's helping, amazing how well some things work and others well... just don't.

Mittsy, I would love that block in exchange for all 4 squares. It is beautiful and I do have magnolias in my yard with plenty of cardinals.

A friend of mine in Gainesville was told to buy one of the wax units for her hands and she says she can't work with out it. She does lots of crafts and really bad arthritis in both hands. I, too, have had the wax treatment as a special treat when I had a pedicure a while back. Oh so relaxing and soothing!!!

    Mittsy, lesson learned..
When not in use do not put the plastic bags and mitts laying on the hardened wax with lid on...took mine out, plugged it in,,ooh oooh what a mess!! Know you are all smarter than that but thought id mention it...reason I'm now using oven mitts along with replacement bags..

Wax last for quite some time..might be something you want to put on Santa"s Xmas list!

Ooooh if it helps with the cramping, I would surely like that. So bad some days I can't sew.

All the Christmas charmes received so far are already in a quilt top..run to mailbox everyday..for the rest.
Photo is taken..but wait untill I have the top finished...but omg it looks amazing.
the other charmes..not sure what I'm going to do with them..but the Christmas ones..I do it all by machine(even the quilting part)..so it will be "done" before Christmas.
