milky rock in Tehama County, California

Corning, CA(Zone 8a)

This stone was found in the pasture in Tehama County California. We have opals in our county, stalagmite and stalagtite opals and gyserites.

Is it igneous, Metamorphic or sedimentary.

1. I think its a Metamorphic.

2. i do not see grains in the stone, they are more like quartz broken up or something. similar to chert but less glass like.

3. i broke the rock and it was somewhat transparent on some of the pieces that were thin, but its more milky color and opaque on the rest.

ideas?
