beautiful block Mittsy !! I would love a set of red cardinals mirrored images !!! and the chickadees mirrored any color, and any color fabrics you have that you think would show off the birds!!! or anything else you feel like creating...
you did not answer...do you want space for embroidery???
Karen, I found DG and the sewing threads the same way...looking for plant info...and now I have some very, very special new friends...
Thunder, I don't want to hijack this thread unless we are going to continue to inspire each other and have hostess permission. Lurkers welcome to chime in. Here until Thanksgiving. I'd love a log cabin block with 3 1/2" or 4 " square plain tone on tone center. I can put embroidery in the center. What color butterflies would you like? Will work on the Cardinals, and Chickadees mirror image, I need the size of the square with seam allowance. I'll search for more anchors. Most of the embroidery will be white tone on tone, whatever I can buy locally. I would love the block that looks like a gift with a bow. I could embroider the grandchild's name on the tag. Would need four of them.
Mittsy, I think I did the present block with the bow you are referring to. Funny thing after reading these post yesterday, I had planned to send you a message to see if that would work. You beat me to it. LOL I will be very happy to do the 4 blocks. I am referring to the block in James and Heather's quilt--is that the one you want?
Yes, yes, yes, "The Gift" I just love that block, Thank you Marion. I've been working on Cardinals all day. Just love them. I've been playing with the pattern and Tweaking it a bit so now I have pairs and can do them in three different sizes. Did them all as redwork on white tone on tone. Going to have to buy more white at this rate. They really pop. I think these are going to Pat, Elaine and Thunder. Marion, do you want Cardinals?
Thank you. I think the next one will have corner blocks with the black. Not sure yet but with all the 5" charms I have received just want to put into a quilt to remember my friends.Funny but I look at the blocks and can tell you who sent what.
Had a wonderful day at my sisters. I taught her the basics of applique, the way I do it on the embroidery machine. I brought home two cupcakes that will be turned into a pair of potholders for our niece, Lauren. Lauren has the set of mugs like we do, Barb. I have insulbrite and batting so will cut out and return to Mary for finishing. I was pulling scraps out of the wastebasket to be used for applique and she's saying oh no, I need to save scraps that small? I told her I keep a clear plastic bag just for that purpose, she says quart or gallon? I say, King size comforter bag. Then when I have two or three of them, I give one away to someone, (Thunder) who cuts them into one inch squares for charity quilts. We also managed to get my small patio umbrella taken apart and used it for a pattern to cut a new one out of a cool green shower curtain, I bought for half price. I think I'll try embroidering a few ferns on it.
I turned my spelling mistake into a usuable center for a quilt block and then deliberating made another. We'll use it in toddler quilt.
It is great to have someone to sew with. I find I get things done when I sew with Elaine too!!!
Those are adorable Mittsy. Now I have all kinds of animals dancing through my head with misspelled names!!!! I love it.
How clever Mittsy!! I so envy you having a sister that likes to sew and do crafty things. Mine is strictly and outdoor person--absolutely no interest in anything to do with sewing, etc. Now if we were to work in my yard all day she would help.
Would I ever like to be your sister--in fact, I would love being your sister. After all we both have good taste in regards to "eye candy"; we love quilting; buying fabric, etc.
So now this includes coming to visit some time.
Wowzer!!! thanks Lady M!!! we will get to visit one of these days...!! out to walk the Plaza here in KC today, won't be worth a hoot when we get back LOL
Can't wait to get back home to start the blocks for the other building... and Christmas stuff too - I could get lost in my sewing room...
I save my postal receipts until I see that my packages have been delivered. I haven't crossed off Marion, did you receive charm squares from me? I mailed them on the 20th of September. They looked like this.
All embroidered squares will be on 5" white tone on tone unless you ask for larger or different. Got you down for blue background for your snowflake, Pat.
Yes, Mittsy, it was here when I returned home. Things have been a little on hectic side since I returned and I am so sorry I haven't acknowledge the packet. I cannot believe the work that went into the ladybug jar and the ladybug!!! Love them, love them.
Hey everyone...sorry I haven't been with you guys much lately...Been trying to clean my house (not the studio) that's hopeless right now! My daughter's BD tomorrow and all the kids are coming including my 2 grandsons...CAN'T WAIT! But I am tired from all the cleaning...WHEW
I mailed out some packages with strips Moday...did anyone get them. Pat, you should be getting a box with the John Deere Fleece blanket. Hope everything got delivered.
