Recently, I've noticed that there are a lot of black spiders in the basement of my house.. can someone tell me if they are poisonous and what's the best way to get rid of them?
I have to tell you, I am a avid spider lover. The usually do more good than harm. But when you have 3 people get bit and doctor and hospital trips. We had to do something.
We have been using spider traps, this species seem very attracted to these, leaving them around any open doors or windows at night. Catching about 3 per night.
But we pick them up in the daytime, because we have had curious squirrels and birds and get them stuck on themselves.
I have not noticed any other spiders in the traps. (We originally purchased for the hobo spiders that we found
in there pretty funnel webs on the side of our house. And are very aggresive and after 3 bite we have had enough.)
We also sat a large watering dish beside the backdoor that the dogs use for drinking outside and just the black spider seems to go in and drown.
