chellflower / Chell...Jsxtiger/ Jax/ Joyce ... Are the last two of our folks to receive. I know they have been mailed so it is just up to the slow boat from China and USPS for now.

I will be closing this thread after they have gotten their goodies. I have decided that I will open another thread for folks who want to do a swap / trade for miniature items. I am not sure exactly how to do it. As I need to be able to follow the rules for Daves. Also I think maybe we can find a way around the picture issues I have here by setting up a photo essay in our members page

I just made one using the garden blog. Lets see if this will work.

http://davesgarden.com/tools/blog/index.php?tabid=16120

This seems to work, however I need someone else to let me know if the link works for them. Also we need to figure out a numbering system for the items and that way you know how to identify the item a person has for trade or wants.

Could everyone let me know if this is what you are wanting?

Laney, I'm very impressed how well you could incorporate the plants I sent you into your existing gardens! They look like they've been there all along! I would have made a miserable mess, lol!! Your miniature gardens are beautiful!

Kris, I thought at one time there was a toggle to make the Blog entries public or private, but I can't find it now on mine. I was thinking that might be the problem with your link denying access.

Laney, your mini garden is absolutely adorable. So is your mini pond, Elfie.

I played with my goodies a while this afternoon, still not satisfied with the outcome yet and am not sure if it's me, since this is my first mini garden, or the container. Will keep trying though.

Some of us have albums on free photo hosting sites like Webshots, Photobucket, Picasa, etc. We could always post a link to what we have if that would make it easier for you?

Bev, it's not my design... you just happened to send the perfect plants. But I am pleased with how it looks. Neighbors must think I'm looney cause I go out at night with a flashlight just to look at it once more.

Fruit, if you want, post pics of your container, plants and accessories again and maybe we can all put our ideas together and it might help you with landscaping your mini garden. Just a thought.

Kris, Some of the DG writers post links within their articles to pics in their Blogs (usually to a bigger version of the article pic). I do have things in mine marked private (notes, pics, and links) that others cannot access even with a direct link. Try reposting the link to your Blog, or to the specific Tab. There is probably something different in the link now that you've marked it public.

Laney, I guess it was just meant to be that I 'drew' your name to swap with, lol!! I've been known to visit my gardens and lil pond fish in the middle of the night too! I'm quite sure my neighbors think I'm a loon, or a drunkard, staggering around in my PJs with a flashlight and talking to everybody (plants and critters)!!

Susan, I agree with Laney, post pics and let us help! Personally, I'd start with the big stuff and what needs to be in the garden (plants and structures). You can fit the smaller things in later if the garden really needs them. Or, do as I do and just keep playing until your toads/trolls/fairies tell you what to do (or where to go), lol!

I use the heck out of Picasa mainly because I can control who sees what and when!!!! It'll even organize the pics on your computer as well as some editing and slideshow video creation gizmos!

Well we can take a vote as to where people want to post all of our pictures. I really like FB simply because I can organize , edit, tag, and other things there. It is simple for me. But I will go with what everyone else wants to do. After all I can do both, I just would rather not. sigh...

Look what I did using a tutorial that ridesaredmule / Charleen did for me.

I recieved my box yesterday from JAX...she sent 3 light up fairy houses, 2 tree peepers and the cutest fairy mailbox. I'll post pics ASAP. Thanks Jax for such a super cool box!!!

My laptop crashed last night (on Halloween...'spoooky!'). Its only 4mos old!! Spent my whole day off today trying to get it fixed...went to Best Buy and they said it had a virus and that my anti virus protection didn't recognize it to catch/remove it in time...whatever! so I tried to do the system recovery and my reboot disk wouldn't work; tried again with the VAIO recovery and that shut off somehow before completion, leaving my laptop in computer pergatory...ended up calling Sony cust. service and they spent over an hour via phone walking me through countless steps to figure it out but we got it restored like the day I bought it (...and yes, this time I had my files backed up on disk thank G'ness cause I JUST recently got almost all of my garden maps, inventories, etc finally redone after my old computer crashed last May ).

I like the idea of trading our goodies! I started a Facebook account, but my password quit working when I tried to get back on to figure out how to navigate the site. I've been meaning to get back on... (see Jax, you're not the ONLY one, LOL!)

We all seam to like Trees. Last year I visited a Monks Garden. The Garden was older than America. All the tree limbs seamed to be in the perfect place. Seams when the tree go dormant. (for most of us Dec.) They made a small nic. In the tree. Where they want the new limb. Using a blade. For us maybe an Xacto knife. When the sap rises . . . A new limb grows. They also trained the tree into the shape, they wanted. Using Pole Prop Ups,and truely "bandaging" in to the pole. Many of the trees looked like the ones from Alice in Wonderland.

Elfie I love the every thing you posted. The seahorse was awsome, the pumpkins were making me say awwww, and the rest were all so lovely. How I wish I could learn to do this, had better vision and a steadier hand. I would move to Montgomery just for the honor to be your student!

Give the kids a hug for me and tell 'em I said hey!

OK here's my first attempt at a mini garden. The scale would have been better if I'd used the large red wagon but there's nowhere to keep it inside.

Thank you again, CheerMom, for the plants and beach goodies. I used the Dracena spike in a friendship bowl since things were getting crowded. It would have been a cool "palm tree" though and may redo the whole thing next Spring. Also forgot to mention earlier you'd included a boat. It's up on a mound of sand like it's beached and is moored with a piece of rope.

The lighthouse is a glass Old Spice bottle I found at Goodwill. You can't really tell from the pic but it's sitting on a mound of aquarium stones to sorta simulate a rocky cliff. Should have brushed off some of the sand on the patio for it to show up better. It's made with ceramic tiles you gave me, Elfie, in the famous junk box swap, and most of the plants are potted in some of the little baskets you gave me.

So, here I am totally open to constructive criticism. What to do, what to do, what to edit, what to keep? Although I want to keep it all!

Fruit the Beach Garden is lovely! It is all great. (Constructive criticism?) The only thing I would change is I'd try to find or make a smaller boat as it is the only thing not in scale. I had seen a smaller boat somewhere but don't remember where. Your design and plants are awsome and you did an wonderful job placing them.

Hello everyone, sorry I haven't been on much lately. The weather has had my back and hips hurting so bad it has left me in a deep depression. First I want to say a big southern "Howdy" to Charleen, and say "I love your crafts." I'm feeling better today and felt like piddeling so I threw this mini garden together in one of those old blue speckled roasting pans. I wanted something to enjoy inside this winter so I used indoor plants. I still need to set the patio in concrete (which I'm out of right now), but I thought it turned out ok. Note the bird nest from the swap in the jade tree. Thanks Bev! Kris, tell the kids Hi and mention to Goober how much I enjoyed her outdoor mini garden.
