Elfie, I too love the Hemlock tree. I planted elfin thyme (which I love) under it and think of our Mudelf when I look at it.

chellflower / Chell...Jsxtiger/ Jax/ Joyce ... Are the last two of our folks to receive. I know they have been mailed so it is just up to the slow boat from China and USPS for now.

I will be closing this thread after they have gotten their goodies. I have decided that I will open another thread for folks who want to do a swap / trade for miniature items. I am not sure exactly how to do it. As I need to be able to follow the rules for Daves. Also I think maybe we can find a way around the picture issues I have here by setting up a photo essay in our members page

I just made one using the garden blog. Lets see if this will work.

http://davesgarden.com/tools/blog/index.php?tabid=16120

This seems to work, however I need someone else to let me know if the link works for them. Also we need to figure out a numbering system for the items and that way you know how to identify the item a person has for trade or wants.

Could everyone let me know if this is what you are wanting?

............that link says............access denied!

(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)

I get the same message!

Elfie @ Goodwater,, AL(Zone 7b)

Well that did not work.. I donot know what to do now..

(Bev) Wytheville, VA(Zone 6a)

Laney, I'm very impressed how well you could incorporate the plants I sent you into your existing gardens! They look like they've been there all along! I would have made a miserable mess, lol!! Your miniature gardens are beautiful!

Kris, I thought at one time there was a toggle to make the Blog entries public or private, but I can't find it now on mine. I was thinking that might be the problem with your link denying access.

(Bev) Wytheville, VA(Zone 6a)

Uh, found it! Click EDIT for a Blog entry, then there's a check box to make it public or private... see if that helps!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Laney, your mini garden is absolutely adorable. So is your mini pond, Elfie.

I played with my goodies a while this afternoon, still not satisfied with the outcome yet and am not sure if it's me, since this is my first mini garden, or the container. Will keep trying though.

Elfie @ Goodwater,, AL(Zone 7b)

I clicked to make public.. see if that worked?

I keep playing with mine too and am very unhappy with it,,sigh...

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

.................wat?..............an ya laugh at me lil elf?????

i's never beez the last one in a swap afore? i guess that goes to the problms i bez having! not with location or nuttin............jist the theme!!! remind me of that next time! make it easy on meself!!!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

access denied. BUT I just clicked on your user name, then Garden Diary, and it worked fine.

Some of us have albums on free photo hosting sites like Webshots, Photobucket, Picasa, etc. We could always post a link to what we have if that would make it easier for you?

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

Bev, it's not my design... you just happened to send the perfect plants. But I am pleased with how it looks. Neighbors must think I'm looney cause I go out at night with a flashlight just to look at it once more.

Fruit, if you want, post pics of your container, plants and accessories again and maybe we can all put our ideas together and it might help you with landscaping your mini garden. Just a thought.

Elfie @ Goodwater,, AL(Zone 7b)

I guess that could work. Wonder why it is so hard to do that here.

And also would you have to be on FB to view my pictures there?

Let see?

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

When I click on Elf's Diary I get a pic of the bird bath dated November 1st but nothing else. Do love the bird bath tho!

Elfie @ Goodwater,, AL(Zone 7b)

LOL,, That is all that is there!! So does it work now?? Humm may try to do more and see. I would like for Jax or Fruity or Lynn to see if they can see our pictures on FB without being a member there.

(Bev) Wytheville, VA(Zone 6a)

Kris, Some of the DG writers post links within their articles to pics in their Blogs (usually to a bigger version of the article pic). I do have things in mine marked private (notes, pics, and links) that others cannot access even with a direct link. Try reposting the link to your Blog, or to the specific Tab. There is probably something different in the link now that you've marked it public.

(Bev) Wytheville, VA(Zone 6a)

Laney, I guess it was just meant to be that I 'drew' your name to swap with, lol!! I've been known to visit my gardens and lil pond fish in the middle of the night too! I'm quite sure my neighbors think I'm a loon, or a drunkard, staggering around in my PJs with a flashlight and talking to everybody (plants and critters)!!

Susan, I agree with Laney, post pics and let us help! Personally, I'd start with the big stuff and what needs to be in the garden (plants and structures). You can fit the smaller things in later if the garden really needs them. Or, do as I do and just keep playing until your toads/trolls/fairies tell you what to do (or where to go), lol!

I use the heck out of Picasa mainly because I can control who sees what and when!!!! It'll even organize the pics on your computer as well as some editing and slideshow video creation gizmos!

Elfie @ Goodwater,, AL(Zone 7b)

Well we can take a vote as to where people want to post all of our pictures. I really like FB simply because I can organize , edit, tag, and other things there. It is simple for me. But I will go with what everyone else wants to do. After all I can do both, I just would rather not. sigh....

Look what I did using a tutorial that ridesaredmule / Charleen did for me.

I recieved my box yesterday from JAX...she sent 3 light up fairy houses, 2 tree peepers and the cutest fairy mailbox. I'll post pics ASAP. Thanks Jax for such a super cool box!!!

My laptop crashed last night (on Halloween....'spoooky!'). Its only 4mos old!! Spent my whole day off today trying to get it fixed...went to Best Buy and they said it had a virus and that my anti virus protection didn't recognize it to catch/remove it in time...whatever! so I tried to do the system recovery and my reboot disk wouldn't work; tried again with the VAIO recovery and that shut off somehow before completion, leaving my laptop in computer pergatory....ended up calling Sony cust. service and they spent over an hour via phone walking me through countless steps to figure it out but we got it restored like the day I bought it (...and yes, this time I had my files backed up on disk thank G'ness cause I JUST recently got almost all of my garden maps, inventories, etc finally redone after my old computer crashed last May ).

I like the idea of trading our goodies! I started a Facebook account, but my password quit working when I tried to get back on to figure out how to navigate the site. I've been meaning to get back on... (see Jax, you're not the ONLY one, LOL!)

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

.............well its about time it got there! was beginning ta think it got lost! Now i kin tell you bout the death of the mini hosta i wanted ta send! an that was the hold-up. kept waiting fer them to improve. lol So, in leiu of those.........ya have another box coming!

I hope ya like the peeps, they were my idea of what hobbits look like. Sure hope it's yours! as ya kin see by the note, i thought it would be soooooo cool ta half bury them in the dirt........look like the side of a mountain......whatdoyathink?

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

lil elf..............i kin see ya pics...................the fish, glazing balls, bowls, etc!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)

We all seam to like Trees. Last year I visited a Monks Garden. The Garden was older than America. All the tree limbs seamed to be in the perfect place. Seams when the tree go dormant. (for most of us Dec.) They made a small nic. In the tree. Where they want the new limb. Using a blade. For us maybe an Xacto knife. When the sap rises . . . A new limb grows. They also trained the tree into the shape, they wanted. Using Pole Prop Ups,and truely "bandaging" in to the pole. Many of the trees looked like the ones from Alice in Wonderland.

Elfie @ Goodwater,, AL(Zone 7b)

Well I am home. And there is nothing like going shopping finding tons of good deals and your darn cell phone dies and you are not able to tell anyone about them,,,,,sigh....

Here I am happier than a bear with a honey comb and no one to talk to. My phone is on the charger and I am going to take pictures of everything!! Be back in a bit,,,,,,

Elfie @ Goodwater,, AL(Zone 7b)

OMG!!! Forgot to tell you all,, RUN to Lowe's!! They have pots of Norfolk pines for only $6.98!! My pot had like 6 or 7 baby trees in it and I am going to plant a Christmas Mini- garden tomorrow!!!! Got tuns of cool pots, baskets and tins to make up mini-gardens in too!

Elfie @ Goodwater,, AL(Zone 7b)
