I am about to adopt a giant jenny form a neighbor who died recently, and I have had very little experience with donkeys. I know some of you are more knowledgeable and I was hoping for advice/warnings for this endeavor. Anyone?

PP-color me green! I would love to have a donkey, but would need a crack divorce lawyer if I tried.
See if you can track down a member named "Jayryunen" She used to contribute to this forum
occasionally and was also active on the "Homesteading" forum. I think someone will chime in
shortly to help you locate her-
Also, you might try a "donkey" keyword search of the forums.
Let me know how it works out and please post pics.

I just increased my mule experience by catching a neighbor's mule loose on the road. I still need donkey advice though.

I know they are stubborn and very smart. I've heard they make great guard animals against coyotes and other threats.

Here is some info for you from a donkey site.

Thanks Pepper. I learned that my future donkey is what is called a red dappled roan, also I liked the phrase that "donkeys tend to do what is good for the donkey" (!) Not stubborn, just self-preservation.

I liked that phrase too. Got a kick out of that. lol.

Can't wait to see pics of your new donkey!!

Well, did you get your new charge yet? Pound for pound donkey's are far stronger than horses. Decide what you want to accomplish and then figure out a way to make her think it's her idea! LOL

Here is a little bit of trivia for yall.

What is the only animal in the world that if it became extinct
Humans could bring it back to life ?

It starts with 'H'.

Or humans. Only two I can think of.

Wrong and wrong.

The second letter is ' i '.

Yes Porkpal,
You are right.

Technally you were right the first time as well.
But I was thinking of the Hinny.
The much rarer successful mating of a male horse and a female donkey produces a Hinny.

So there is my contribution to the Ass/Donkey/Mule Thread. ^_^

Once again I have to take my hat off to PP!

I do have 3 or 4 pictures of Aussie Hinnies.
But they are not mine so I can't put them up here.

PP, Did you get your Jenny home yet ?
If so, pictures please. ^_^
