    A new bird on one of the ponds this a.m. and it's something I've not seen before. I've looked through my Sibley's and I'm not seeing anything that fits it. Has a yellow eye, scoter-like. Taken from some distance.

    Thanks for your help, Resin. I have a local expert who thinks it's a molting male Goldeneye. I'm conflicted.

    Wrong head shape, and much too long a bill, for a Goldeneye (they have short stubby bills).

    I'm with you guys on scaup. Just never seen one with this much white on the lores.
