Do you mean "potted plants", or cannabis? I think the administrators here don't want us to discuss the later.
I would expect Magnesium silicate to be very insoluble, so that it would not release any Mg to the plants.
I usually use "Epsom Salts" (Magnesium Sulfate) if I want to add Mg. Or Dolomite lime (MG - Ca - Carbonate) if the soil would benefit from being less acid.
I used to foliar-spray MgSO4 or chelated iron when certain plants showed red petioles and some pale leaves I don't know which deficiency it was, but I knew how to cure it.
