I've been drooling over Michael's begonia list for some time now, first at Antonelli's then Pedrick's Corner. He's going to be coming out with a catalog of his begonias and fuchsias shortly. I can't wait. But just to tease, here's some of the ones he will have (he read me the list as he walked through the greenhouses.)

It's going to be a print catalog. I hope at some point he puts it on the web. I've asked for several copies. For this spring, he said to make my choices and mail a list with a check for the plants to him. He's a friend of Catherine's at Pedrick's Corner, which is why she has his info on her site. I recommend calling to speak with him about an order. The contact info is on Catherine's site: http://pedrickscorner.farming.officelive.com/MichaelsFuchsiasGalore.aspx

I will watch for the catalog closer to the spring. Right now it is too cold to even think about adding a begonia or two to my group.
Thanks for the information.

From your cane list, you might consider B. 'Di Anna', I've had it for years, it's an oldie, hard to kill, doesn't get too large, the best thing about it is that it is a good bloomer, those reddish flowers will turn orange when the light is not too direct. I've ordered from Michael before, glad he has returned. If the society is to survive the more good dealers we have the better!

He's charging $6 for a 3" pot plus shipping from California. His prices will be going up, but since he quoted the old price he will honor it for now. Of course, with taylor you get the free shipping, but the prices are higher. Different varieties - I will be ordering from both this year.

Yes there will be, but it is delayed. Have you tried Florida growers? Your shipping will be much more reasonable.

Hi db,

Thanks for the reply and update. I will look forward to seeing the catalog! Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Yes, I have ordered from Florida growers. I just received a shipment of two begonias from Gardino's Nursery. It seems to me that shipping is $12-$20 no matter where you order. I priced begonias at about five different places using a spreadsheet and the shipping usually runs around $15 for starters no matter where. Heck, even on eBay they want $10 these days. I guess it just costs that much to package, use a sturdy box, secure the plant, and ship Priority Mail. Gardino's, which is only a few hours away, still cost me about $13. The plants were gorgeous and in wonderful shape, by the way. I took photos and will post when I have time.

I have drooled over the photos you have posted in the past of all of your gorgeous begonias. In fact, your photos influenced my purchases. You sure do have a way with both the plants and with plant design.

Thanks for the kind words. I do enjoy growing begonias - such variety!
I was wondering if you had ever ordered plants from Greg Sytch. I find that his plants are better grown than most nurseries, and reasonably priced. And on ebay, PJ's Violets has a good variety that they purchase from Harmony.

Does Greg Sytch have a website or a list somewhere? I am fortunate that I live close to Baker's Acres, which has a respectable selection.
