I've been successfully using the same seed starting methods, but the cats were eating my seedlings -- so I thought! I had a mouse; despite the 3 cats! I now successfully grow my seedlings in my daughter's old gerbil cages that I found stored in the garage. I put the bricks inside the gerbil cages under the tray of seedlings. I rest a grow light on top of each cage. This method has worked well for me. Since I grow my seedlings in the basement, I've found that keeping a small portable fan blowing on the trays prevents dampening off. I appreciate all the many labeling tips since that has always been a problem for me too! Thanks to everyone.
