We are wanting to install a wood stove in our kitchen. We have a 2 story cape cod home so the flue (or chimney) will need to run up through the second floor. Is this feasible?
How wood I penetrate the upstairs floor and ceiling? Can I encase the flue pipe?
Yes it is. Building code in your area may determine what is allowed. A masonry chimney would be one way. Metalbestos is another. The masonry chimney could be covered with drywall or plastered. I'm assume the metalbestos could be surrounded with a drywall enclosure. You would have to research the clearances needed.
