2nd-4th Best Planting Days For Aboveground Crops, Especially Peas, Beans, Cucumbers And Squash, Where Climate Is Suitable. Plant Seedbeds And Flower Gardens.

5th -8th A Most Barren Period, Best For Killing Plant Pests Or Doing Chores Around The Farm.

9th -11th Favorable Days For Planting Root Crops, Fine For Sowing Hay, Fodder Crops, And Grains. Plant Flowers.

12th -13th Excellent Time For Planting Root Crops That Can Be Planted Now, And For Starting Seedbeds. Good Days For Transplanting.

14th -16th Poor Planting Days.

17th -18th Any Root Crops That Can Be Planted Now Will Do Well.

19th-20th A Barren Period, Best Suited For Killing Pests. Do Plowing And Cultivating.

21st -22nd Favorable Planting Days: First Day For Beets, Carrots, Radishes, Salsify, Turnips, Peanuts, And Other Root Crops. Good Day For Transplanting. Last Day For Aboveground Crops. Both Days Good For Planting Cucumbers, Melons, Pumpkins And Other Vine Crops, And For Setting Strawberry Plants.

This is a good time to sow vegetables that produce internal seed bearing fruits. Tomatoes, beans, peas, peppers, chillis, pumpkins,

Biodynamic:
Moon in Taurus: Earth sign . Do sow Root plants like Carrots, Chives, Early Potatoes, Onions, Parsnips,Shallots. Do not sow Flower vegetables like Broccoli .

Sidereal:
1- March 2012 Moon in Taurus: Sow Root vegetable crops especially when hardiness in drought conditions is needed.

2 March 2012 Moon in Gemini: Barren and dry, and yet good for promoting flower growth.

Moon in Leo: Fire sign. Sow Fruiting plants likeEggplant, Beans, Cucumbers, Peas, Peppers, Tomatoes. Do not sow Leaf plants like Lettuce, Spinach. Fruits harvested now should be eaten straight away.

Sidereal:
Moon in Leo: Dry and barren. Do garden maintenance.

Note: I do not sow ANYTHING with Leo around. With many years using the Zodiac and biodynamic, I don't risk it. If you sow todat, germination will happens well because it is Full Moon but I have experienced along the way, that the plants may have problems, infectation by insects, any disease or will have too much foliage, small or few produce.

Thank you so much for sharing that info with us. I am still quite new at seed sowing so I need all the help I can get. Last year I followed along with you doing the Farmers Almanac. I am glad you have taken the time to share with us the biodynamic calendar, and your experiences as well.

Moon: Last quarter

Synodic:
Cultivate, weed and harvest from the garden. Start building a new compost heap.

Biodynamic:
Moon in Scorpio: Water sign. Sow Leaf plants like Cabbages, Celery, Dill, Lettuce, Spinach. Do not sow Fruiting plants like Broad Beans , Cucumbers, Peas, Tomatoes.

Sidereal:
Moon in Scorpio: Scorpio second best water sign for planting, germination and strong sturdy growth will result.

Note: Bolting can often be avoided if lettuces, cabbages and others are transplanted in the 3rd or 4th Quarter on a Leaf day of Scorpio Moon, as today, this annoying event can often be avoided.

My apologies to everybody, only now I am able to get into DG. My mum is not well and this 2 days I have been away.

Sidereal:
Moon in Sagittarius: Dry and barren. Good time to plant onion sets and bulbs.

Moon in Capricorn: Earth sign. Sow Root plants like Asparagus, Beetroot, Carrots, Chives, Horseradish,Jerusalem Artichokes, Leeks,Onions, Parsnips, Potatoes, Radish, Shallots, Spring Onions. Do not sow Flower plants like Broccoli, Cauliflowers, Globe Artichokes.

Sidereal:
Moon in Capricorn: Potatoes and tubers planted now will have a strong growth.

Note
The earth signs:
Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, are also fertile signs.
Planting and transplanting during this time will encourage root development. Below ground growth is associated with earth signs. Root crops are best when planted now and transplanting during this time will encourage root development.

Moon in Aquarius: Air sign. Sow Flowering plants: Broccoli, Cauliflowers. Do not sow Rooting plants Beetroot, Carrots, Chives,Leeks,Onions.

Sidereal:
Moon in Aquarius: Dry and barren. Garden maintenance.

Note
The air signs: Libra, Aquarius and Gemini
The Moon to harvest and cultivate, if you keep produce by canning, drying or any other preserving method this is the time to do it, it will keep well for a long time.
Air sign are in general considered to be barren and dry. An exception to that rule is Libra which is considered to be semi-fertile and good for planting blooming flowers, ornamental bushes, trees and herbals.
But plant melons in Gemini, and onions in Aquarius for a bountiful crop of these.

Sow leafy vegetables and annuals that produce above ground. Lettuce, Spinach, Asparagus, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Sprouts, Sweetcorn, Cucumber. Grains are good to plant now. This is a good time to pick vegetables if they are to be stored.

Biodynamic:
Moon in Aquarius: Air sign. This is a good time to sow Flowering plants Broccoli, Cauliflowers.
Do not sow Rooting like Beetroot, Carrots, Leeks, Potatoes. Fruits harvested now will store well.

Sidereal:
Moon in Aquarius: Dry and barren. Garden maintenance.

Sow leafy vegetables and annuals that produce above ground. Lettuce, Spinach, Asparagus, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Sprouts, Sweetcorn, Cucumber. Grains are also good to plant now. Vegetables harvested today will keep well.

Biodynamic:
Moon in Pisces: Water sign. Do sow Leaf plants: Cabbages, Celery, Dill, Lettuce, Rhubarb, Spinach. Do not sow Fruiting plants like Broad Beans Cucumbers Peas, Peppers, Tomatoes. Fruits and vegetables harvested today will store well.

Sidereal:
Moon in Pisces: This is the best sign for planting soft fruit. It is a time when plants have a maximum water intake.

Note:
The water signs:Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio.
This is considered to be the most productive signs, even more so than Earth sign.
During a conjunction with the moon these signs encourage the growth of above ground leafy annuals and it is the best time to plant them.
Very good time for fertilizing and irrigating. Start composts heaps. Don't harvest now, crops will decay too soon.
Plant melons, grapes, any fruit with high water content will do well at this time.

Leo, when it is ruled by the moon, is a good sign in which to do your weeding and cultivation, but when Leo is around I do not sow, transplant any seed, bulb, tubers etc. Only I do garden maintenance or destroy any weed or growth that I do not want to keep around.
Also, harvesting during a fire sign will help prevent spoilage.

Gosh, Cristina...this year is just flying by. It is almost April! We had springtime in winter, and so far, we are having winter-like weather in spring. Still, we need the rain here in California, as we were headed for drought, and are not sure to be out of it yet.

evelyn that photo loos great! Love the house, but I would not like to live in so harsh winter!

The weather all over is very unstable and unpredictable.

You will have to wait a bit to move your seedling into the garden beds, hope you have some rain and not snow.

You cannot post until you register and login.
