| When this just came up I thought it is lantana. But it is not.
what is this plant with fluffy rough leaves and red/burgundy stem. It has some short of fragrance/smell I am unable to describe.
Vibernum? Cornus drummondii? just a weed?
Thanks.

| I don't know what your plant is, but I think I can say what it is NOT.
Your second image seems to show that the leaves are arranged in an alternate fashion along the stem, so this plant can't be a Viburnum species or Cornus drummondii which are opposite in leaf arrangement. |

| This might sound odd but it reminds me of a Kiwi seedling. |

| @ViburnumValley, thanks for clearing what it is not.
@ wormfood, I did not plant anything with wishbone flowers. It must be the birdie!
I had 2 varieties of chanille earlier so no the foliage is not that specific.
@growin, when I looked up kiwi seedling on the net it does look a lot like kiwi but the kiwi leaves look much smoother and shinier?

| If it is Actinidia deliciosa I would be pleasantly surprised as it not at all common here!
When I look up images on net I find very hairy leaves and mine does not look so but I found there is hairless variety too. Stem has very fine small hairs though.
I made all my family members smell it And now conclude that it does not have any smell. Though it is 8/9 inches only; to me it gives appearance of a shrub (but will have to wait and see).
One more pointer I saw a shrub (about 4 feet tall) locally with darker leaves and small pink-purple flowers?
Thanks. |

| That's interesting. A couple of websites said poisonous but this site says yummy, as in quick growing shade tree and food for birds.
