| I think it is plantago. I'll leave this open a little longer to see if somebody can ID which plantago. I think you can ID by the flower thingy (see 2nd pic above). I tried but no luck. |

| i've yanked it from shady spots as well as full sun spots. seems happy in either location

| I have that as it is a food source for the buckeye butterfly and mine has broader leaves and the same type of inflorescence/seed stalk. It is definitely Plantago and probably majus. Growing conditions influence its appearance to some degree. |

| With the lobes on the leaves, it looks a bit like Plantago coronopus, Buckhorn Plantain.

| I thought of that, but every photo I find of P. coronopsus has much thinner longer leaves. |

| The more I look the more I keep coming back to P. major (not sure where I came up with majus). There is som variablity in its leaf structure. I'm not at all certain though. |
