The neighbor ladies that I hang around with in our court passes magazines around for others to read after we have finished reading them. Yesterday M..gave me a Southern Living magazine Oct. 2011 issue..pg. 68-71.. It shows Viola that are planted in a terracotta strawberry pot. I planted pansies last fall in a plastic flowerbox and a urn. They bloomed all winter and are still blooming. I am saving this article and pictures, so when the Fall comes and violas are at the garden centers/nurseries..I'm buying myself some to put in one of the strawberry pots that I have. Granted, we had one of the mildest winters I can remember in a long time..probably a total of 2 or 3 weeks of what I call cold weather..hardly any snow; maybe 2 in. total. I know pansies usually don't like hot weather and don't hold up to summertime temps..I don't know if Southern Living will have this article on their website, but if you don't have access to this issue..maybe you can search their website..

I'm making a note to myself to copy this combination. I was going to buy some sunflower yellow spray paint to paint the terracotta pot. Wouldn't those shades of purple violas look great in that sunflower yellow pot in the winter months?
